Aliya's Media and Design Project

Posted by Aliya Rouine in Intro to Design and Multmiedia on Friday, May 26, 2017 at 10:51 am

Q1  project - My overall vision of my project was to make a site to inform people about me. My overall vision of my project was to have pictures to show off who I am and that went along with the pictures.   I feel the website was successful.  I think I had good pictures to represent what I had to say.

Q2 project -  Image editing.  For my quarter two project I took a picture I drew and changed it around.  I wanted to make the pictures pop more than it did before to have a cooler effect when your looking at it.  If I had to change it I think I would be more organized with making it.  I had another idea before but changed it as I was struggling with it.  I would ask for more help this time.

Q3 project - 3D modeling.  I used to use it at my old school and wanted to try it again.  I made insects out of it and wa going to print it out and give it to my sister as a gift.  If I had a chance to do this again I would do a much more detailed thing as I like exploring new forms of art.  I was not working to my potential I feel, but it was fun to make.

Revised projects

For my website I felt like nothing needed to be edited.  I feel like everything that I wanted to add got put into the project.

For image editing I did not add any revisions.  In the future I would choose a different picture to edit and make it more unique to myself.

For 3D modeling I did revise the project.  I felt like I didn’t add enough so I added more to the design.  I added her name, and a few more bugs to the image.

My high point of this course

My highpoint of this course was learning new techniques and skills I did not know about before.  Before the class I did not know about making my own website and I have never tried image editing.  The one thing I have done before is use tinkercad for 3D modeling, I did the project again because it has been a while since I did it.

An area of growth

I feel an area of growth for me would be learning more about image editing.  The website I used confused me a bit so I didn’t add/change as much about the pic that I wanted.

A skill I used outside of class

I used the skills I used from using Wix to make my biochem project this year.  It was really helpful to have already done it before and it was really fun.

An idea I want to pitch for next year’s class

I want to see more creative film projects.

Q4 FINAL PROJECT IGNITE PRESENTATION

Posted by Sakura Seals in Intro to Design and Multmiedia on Friday, May 26, 2017 at 10:51 am

Quarter 1 project type/ The overall vision and goals) of the project

  • The purpose of this project was to create a website that showcases who I am. The project is supposed to include  3 pages. The pages you have to have on the website is an about me page. A page with your resume and a page project to show what you  completed inside or outside of school. For the process of this project we had to complete certain checkpoints throughout the quarter to check on what we have completed so far on the project. My overall vision for the project was to create a website that was simple and intriguing for people to look at. Also to make the website look somewhat professional for colleges to look at so they can learn about who I am.

Quarter 2 project type/ The overall vision and goals) of the project
  • For my Q2 benchmark I chose to do a graphic design project. For this project you had to create a road sign that represents a situation that is real or fictional. The road sign should have words on it the message your are trying to convey has to be told through the image. The message I had  for my road sign is ‘’Thinking outside the box’’. My overall vision for this project was to make a caution sign for cars to warn them that pedestrians they are walking without the use of words.

Quarter 3 project type/ The overall vision and goals) of the project

  • For my project for quarter 3 I decided to do a video project. I couldn’t complete this video without my partner Ivan Gutierrez. For our video project we decided to do a comedy video on asking people random people in our school videos. The goal for the video project was to create a video that can be a powerful messenger and a quick way to share a laugh, an idea or make a statement. In order to complete our video project me and my partner Ivana had to first come up with a concept for a video that we would both enjoy doing. To complete this video we used a video editor called wevideo. It was hard for us to come up with a video Idea at first until we saw some videos on YouTube about riddles. When watching the videos we thought it was a great Idea for a video because the purpose of a riddle.

Media and Design Ignite Presentat

Posted by Anaya Thomas-Gomez in Intro to Design and Multmiedia on Friday, May 26, 2017 at 10:50 am

Anaya Thomas-Gomez

  • Slide One: My name is Anaya and I will presenting my projects for my media and design class. In this class I create different things using different media tools. The projects I did this quarter was I first created a website. After I created the website I used the 3D printer and created a name tag. The last project I did was I made a road sign.

  • Slide Two: This is my webiste that I made in the beginning of the school year. These are screenshots of the main page of the website and the all about me page.

  • Slide Three: For the first quarter I had to make a website. The website had to be about me. In this website I added things such as an “about me” page and a “project” page. The goal of this project was to make a website that we could use as a portfolio.

  • Slide Four: During the process of this project I found that it was quite successful. I found it successful because I didn’t really run into any problems when creating the website. Also I used my class time wisely so anything I had a problem with I could communicate with my peers and teacher for help.

  • Slide Five: These are photos of what I created on the 3D printer. The first image is a screenshot from the online software I used which was tinkercad. The second image is what I printed from the 3D printer.

  • Slide Six: For this project, my main goal was to learn how to use the 3D printer. During the process I found out that the 3D printer is easy but the difficult part was creating the image on the online software. Since I was new to 3D imaging I decided to make something simple, I made a keychain.

  • Slide Seven: This project ended up being successful. My project was successful because I followed all of the checkpoints. In the beginning of the project the checkpoints was to watch tutorials and practice them. This helped a lot.

  • Slide Eight: This is an image that I created using the website pixlr.com.

  • Slide Nine: For this project I was to make a road sign. I had to use  a graphic design browser. For my project I wanted my a sign that symbolized watching your mouth since a lot of people in our generation don’t do this.

  • Slide Ten: This project ended not being successful in my eyes. I say this because it ended up not looking like a road sign and a poster instead. Also my project wasn’t visually appealing. Although I worked hard on this project the website that I chose to use wasn’t the easiest and didn’t have a lot of options.

  • Slide Eleven: For my revisions I took out the downloaded documents and put in the text entry. I also added questions to my about me page that described me. Along with this I added a slide show for the project that included 1 or more pictures.

  • Slide Twelve: I chose this project because this project is basically an online portfolio and I thought it was important to edit it. I chose to do the slide show because when I first did this project it was difficult to do so since I had more time I did it.

  • Slide Thirteen: This is what it looked like after I made my revisions.

  • Slide Fourteen:  When I started this class I was unsure on what to expected. I just wanted to know what exactly media and design was and I assumed it would help my technology skills.

  • Slide Fifteen: An area where I showed growth was being able to follow directions. I say this because with most of the projects that I have done this quarter I was unfamiliar with and was able to do this projects with the specific directions from the checkpoint.

  • Slide Sixteen: A skill that I used was tinkercad. In ninth grade I used tinkercad in one of my mini courses to build a desk. I was still unfamiliar with the tool so the project I did this year helped me with that tool.

  • Slide Seventeen: An idea I want to do is the coding project. I want to try this project because coding is something you can use a lot, we live in a pretty advanced world.

  • Slide Eighteen: A tip for someone who is taking this class is to not procrastinate. Procrastination will hold you back.

  • Slide Nineteen: Another tip is to follow directions. Directions are pretty clear and will help you.

Slide Twenty: My last tip is to come to class on time and to communicate if you are absent. Missing class without communication will hurt your grade and leave you with a lot of catching up to do.

Q4 Benchmark: Ignite Presentation

Posted by Andre Thomas in Intro to Design and Multmiedia on Friday, May 26, 2017 at 10:49 am

Slide 1
So this is my presentation on my Media Design projects from all the 4 quarters.

Slide 2
Here are two screenshots of my website, I did not add more so there is not clutter. On top is my homepage, inspired by Megaman, on the bottom is my project page.

Slide 3
I want to work in the field of computer science so for me the project was about learning to design a high-quality site.

Slide 4
I believe the project was successful as I learned to think the way a designer would and not as a viewer would.

Slide 5
Quarter 2 I did 3D Modeling, I could not decide what to do at first but in the end I created this.

Slide 6
This is a knight piece. I saw custom chess boards at tournament and online a while ago and decided I wanted to make my own.

Slide 7
As far as success goes this is closer to the inspiration than I planned on getting so I am very content with this result.

Slide 8
My Quarter 3 project was a homage to other artwork I did.

Slide 9
I was not too proud of the final result as many of the minor mistakes I made added up to alter my vision of the final product.

Slide 10
I actually asked Mrs. Hertz if I could revise this for my my last project or at least redo it over again before I knew it would be assigned anyways.

Slide 11
This is the revised version of my Quarter 3 project

Slide 12
I had to recreate the image from scratch, since it was impossible to delete everything except the background

Slide 13
The image on your right is the new final image. I am very proud of how revision ended as opposed to when I began.

Slide 14
Failing this project felt like a job but I learned a lot about knowing your material before you dedicate yourself to a work using it

Slide 15
I want to expand upon my 3D modeling skills so I can accurately create more complex designs

Slide 16
Image editing and 3D modeling are both really useful for other school projects and the fields of work I want to go into

Slide 17
Next year I would like to see more in depth film projects and maybe animation tutorial projects

Slide 18
Use tutorials for your tool, you don’t want to be stuck looking up answers to everything the whole project

Slide 19
Use your time wisely so that you do not fall behind and end up spending all your time catching up

Slide 20
Use what you learn in this class outside of class and vice versa

Media and Design Ignite Presentation

Posted by Rymir Vaughn in Intro to Design and Multmiedia on Friday, May 26, 2017 at 12:44 am

Slide 1: My name is Rymir Vaughn and this is my Media Design Ignite presentation. I'm going to talk about my projects from this year as well as some tips.

Slide 2: My Q1 project was the website. I didn't have a lot of trouble, but I did have a problem with the site builder and I ended up switching from Wix to Weebly. To make it better I added pictures

Slide 3: The pictures made it more visually appealing and easier to look at. I didn't just do this for the grade, but for future applications. I'm hoping to stand out by submitting a website instead of a normal resume.

Slide 4: My project was successful because I think I got my point across and uploaded my best projects over the past couple years. My grade was also decent and I might keep adding to it.

Slide 5: My quarter 2 project was the computer science project, I enhanced the knowledge I already had of coding. At end I needed to apply my knowledge and complete an activity. I made a screen cast of that activity

Slide 6: My goal was to get better at coding. I learned more about coding and different ways to make it easier and faster. Especially, since I've done some before, but not a lot

Slide 7: It was a king of a success. In the video there were noises in the background and I didn't like that, but besides that it was good. Also during the coding I ran into a lot of problems

Slide 8: My quarter three project started off as an advanced coding project that we would be entered in the TEC COM, but it didn't work out, so I ended up just making edits to the project we were going to make the edits to.

Slide 9: The goal was to not only make it better, but have it correspond with a light system that'll tell you if it wrong or not.

just changing the game site.

Slide 10: It wasn't a success in my eyes because of the fact that we didn't go through with it completely. We ended up scraping it and really just making changes to the game site.

Slide 11: The project I decided to revise was my quarter 3 project. All I did was change the colors so it looked better. It looks more visually appealing now with more consistency and has a color scheme.

Slide 12: Cyrus shared the code with me and all I did was change the color scheme of the level.

Slide 13: As you can see the color scheme wasn’t bad, but I wanted to change it and make it better. So, I changed the colors from blue and yellow to blue and silver/grey.

Slide 14: I would have to say quarter 2’s project was the height for me. I learned a lot from the computer science project and I enhanced my skills as a coder and programmer.

Slide 15:Something I could have improved in is getting my checkpoints in on time because that killed my grade last quarter.

Slide 16: I could use the computer science. I say this because I could possibly enter a career in electrical engineering. So this could help me possibly later in life.

Slide 17: I would have liked to do image editing. There were just other things that I wanted to do that I was more interested in. I probably would've done it for Q4 if this wasn't the project we had to do.

Slide 18: I would say that the first thing is submit your assignments on time. My grade took a hit because of not submitting the assignment at all. So, if you want a good grade submit.

Slide 19: Don't be afraid to ask question. If you don't get something ask. This could also help in other classes.

Slide 20: If you do something you like doing you'll actually do it. Like if you do image editing, edit an image you like or make it like something you like. You're grade will reflect it.

Q3 Benchmark

Posted by Brandon James in Intro to Design and Multmiedia on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at 11:11 pm

My project was Video Editing where you basically record something of your choosing and edit it. So i choose to do a game play for the game Assassin's Creed The Ezio Collection. A success i had while doing this project was recording it because it was very simple to do. A failure i had was actually trying to play it due to the fact I only play my game on the weekends. Also another failure was uploading it to youtube because for some reason it would never work right. I overcame both failures, 1. by bringing my game system to school I could record here as well as at home. 2. Doing a live broadcast of my game play and recording the audio on my phone. Something I learned about myself while completing this was project was that I am somewhat good at doing commentary and that I might be able to do this for real.

Game Maker

Posted by Jordon Gillies in Intro to Design and Multmiedia on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 8:57 pm

For my project I created a game on a website Game Maker. I hoped to learn how to create the foundations of a videogame.

I completed each step to create a game starting from a sprite which is the character. I encountered a failure because the computer shut down when I was almost done my project and I lost all my stuff. I had to restart all over again. To overcome this problem I just did my project on creating a sprite, which is a character that you can control in the game.

I learned a lot through the creation of this project. I learned the basic structures of how to create a game. I learned how to be a better problem solver because I definitely came across a lot of problems.  I learned creating a little game is not as difficult as one might think.

I learned some things about myself also while doing this project. I learned that if I’m determined about completing something then it will get done. I learned that I really do like coding and creating games and I might consider going into that field.

If I could do this project differently I would've created the whole game and submitted me playing it. I would also have just created a game with more detail than what I have planned, but I don't know how that would've worked out with  me meeting the checkpoints.

Some tips for people using game maker is to go on youtube for help. There is excellent on there. I really want to do a game in more detail after doing this project. With multiple sprites and colors, with missions.

This game helped me explain that creating a basic game is possible for someone my age in just a few weeks. I would have been able to do it if I didn’t run into the problem I had. If I can do it anyone my age can do it. It's not hard at all.

Q3 Benchmark Image Editing

Posted by Andre Thomas in Intro to Design and Multmiedia on Friday, March 24, 2017 at 11:07 pm

20160620_131547
20160620_131547

This project is a compilation of some of my previous works. I started with two photos I took of the city and used that as my background. Once I finished that I used the wand tool to segment off pieces of a painting I did to decorate space before moving onto the next large piece I inserted. I meant to expand the topmost photo so that it fit the page but I could not because I had saved the file, which means doing it over would require redoing everything that covered the photo as well. For the same reason of not redoing everything, I never added my third city photo to the bottom of the page. This means my final project has two major flaws that I did not intend to be there but I cannot really redo without erasing my other work. I covered the space the bottom photo left out by adding in pieces of drawings I did. I was never able to fill the empty space around the top photo in a way that makes sense to me.

By the end of my project, I realized that saves always count as one photo so it’s best to finish all the work you have on one layer before moving on. In my case this affected the background but that’s my only issue with the final product. If I were to do this project over, I would make sure my background was completed in the way I wanted it to be. Next I aim to do the same project, but polish it by going in and redoing what I dislike about it.

Using Pixlr was very confusing which is why my background ended up being unsatisfactory but that would not have been a problem if the editing tools were not as hidden as they are. I had to Google a lot of how-to’s for the platform. My advice for others doing the same project is that some of the most basic editing tools (like rotating/cropping) are hidden under the “edit” tab so check that out before thinking you are unable to do something.

Q3 Final Benchmark

Posted by Egypt Bracey in Intro to Design and Multmiedia on Friday, March 24, 2017 at 10:59 pm

The project I did was the Video Editing. Autumn and I created a news segment. I hoped to learn how to edit videos with different tools that I haven’t used before. We took class time to record and added other people into our video for extra characters. Some failures that I faced during this process was coming up ideas and places to record, but we ended up  finding a place and coming up with ideas to make our video look more like a crime scene and a news station. I still don’t like the way we did the video. If I was to do this project over then I would make it more organized and pick another place to record, also I wouldn't put it on WeVideo. I would totally do this project over, I feel I was unorganized and didn't really get a chance to edit it the right way. What I learned was I need to not procrastinate in class and spend more time editing next time. I feel like we were in a rush to get stuff done and didn't think things through. So next time I'll do a whole lot better.

Q3 Final Project

Posted by Ivana Gutierrez in Intro to Design and Multmiedia on Friday, March 24, 2017 at 10:33 pm

PROJECT STATEMENT:

For this quarter 3 project I decided to create a video. I worked with another student in my class who is Sakura Seals. We came up with the idea to make a comedy video, which was asking people riddles and see what their response was going to be, if either it was going to be wrong or correct. My goals for this project was to finish it and to have fun and to have a laugh while doing it with my friend. I learn that I like to edit and record videos, i find that fun. The tool that I use to create the video was WeVideo and the tools that I edit the video were graphics, transitions, audio, and text.   The process of creating this project was pretty easy, we just looked up some riddles that would’ve been easy but hard at the same time to answer. Next, we asked people in our school if they wanted to be asked questions and they agreed. Then, we recorded it and put it on the editing software. Finally, we edit it and published it. We encounter like a several couple of failures while recording some of the clips. One of them was there wasn’t enough space on the phone to record, the second one was some of the clips were blurry, and the last one was we had some background noise but we overcame it. The way we fixed our problems was erasing some of the content on the phone, we recorded some of the videos over again and lastly we found a place where there wasn’t a lot of noise in the background. I learned something new about myself through creating this and it was that I like working with my friends and that while doing it, you have fun creating it even if it’s for school. If we were able to do this over again I think I would ask better questions and tell people to speak louder but other than that I wouldn’t change anything.

This Q3 video project inspired me to do more videos like this. They are fun to do. The tools that I used to create the video help convey the message of the video by giving me the option to pick what I need to make the video flow together and for it to make sense.
