Ivana Gutierrez's Capstone
As the year ends we are close to presenting our final project for the year! For my senior capstone I decided to be a bit more creative with myself. I chose to do special effects makeup (sfx), because of my capstone I believe it allowed me to demonstrate of what I am capable of doing and also I believe it’s a fun way of being creative. What I did for project was make two videos, one of the process and the other of all the final looks. Each look took me about an hour and half to create. In the video everything is sped up so it wouldn’t be a long video when someone is watching it. I created three different looks but similar at the same time, they were all horror and gore. The first one I created was a scary clown and I used my brother as the model for it. The second look I created was a torn off face and the last look I created was monster with scary teeth. Both those I created on myself. From creating this project I learned that there is another side of just using regular makeup, there is also other ways to be creative and that hopefully this can inspire others to try something different.

Q2 Water Pollution Benchmark
Our video is a PSA of water pollution. It’s basically me and my group members speaking on the topic and how it can be resolved. We chose this topic because we believed that water pollution is an important factor that we should know. We use water everyday and we can die if we don’t have it. Water is important to everything that is living.
What I contribute to the project was by giving ideas and editing the video. I believe we could’ve done better in recording more for our video and adding more information. The most meaningful part of this experience of creating the PSA is learning about water pollution and how it can affect us and ways we can prevent it.

Natural Disasters and Earth System Research
Our project was easy to do because we found the information we needed right away. We did a website for this project because we thought it would be easy to do and it would creative. I learned more about the 4 basic elements which were Hydrosphere, Biosphere, Geosphere, and Atmosphere. Also, I learned how hurricanes start and how they end. When all the earth's systems affect each there's a process that moves matter and energy from one sphere to another.

PROJECT STATEMENT:
For this quarter 3 project I decided to create a video. I worked with another student in my class who is Sakura Seals. We came up with the idea to make a comedy video, which was asking people riddles and see what their response was going to be, if either it was going to be wrong or correct. My goals for this project was to finish it and to have fun and to have a laugh while doing it with my friend. I learn that I like to edit and record videos, i find that fun. The tool that I use to create the video was WeVideo and the tools that I edit the video were graphics, transitions, audio, and text. The process of creating this project was pretty easy, we just looked up some riddles that would’ve been easy but hard at the same time to answer. Next, we asked people in our school if they wanted to be asked questions and they agreed. Then, we recorded it and put it on the editing software. Finally, we edit it and published it. We encounter like a several couple of failures while recording some of the clips. One of them was there wasn’t enough space on the phone to record, the second one was some of the clips were blurry, and the last one was we had some background noise but we overcame it. The way we fixed our problems was erasing some of the content on the phone, we recorded some of the videos over again and lastly we found a place where there wasn’t a lot of noise in the background. I learned something new about myself through creating this and it was that I like working with my friends and that while doing it, you have fun creating it even if it’s for school. If we were able to do this over again I think I would ask better questions and tell people to speak louder but other than that I wouldn’t change anything.
This Q3 video project inspired me to do more videos like this. They are fun to do. The tools that I used to create the video help convey the message of the video by giving me the option to pick what I need to make the video flow together and for it to make sense.Q2 Graphic Design Project
For this project we had to create a road sign that represents either a real or fictional situation or directions. We were not the able to describe what is happening on the road sign but just phrases. For example like “Beware” or “Stop”. We had to use images and or symbols to convey our message. We did this project to convey our creation. My goals for this project was to create something that I see frequently in the scary movies. I wanted to create a beware sign. So in the my creative piece I wanted to car and a person in front of them. My message is to beware of people running in front of your car in the middle of the night asking for help. I learned that throughout this project it’s hard coming up with a sign and sketching the sign. The website that I used was pretty hard. So I had a hard time looking for a website to design my road sign, but I ended up using pixlr.com, I found it pretty hard to use. With the design I had time as well. At first I wanted to make a person running through the forest but it was hard to create that so I ended up with doing the car and someone in front of them. The failures that I had was getting a website to use. I found it difficult to create what I had in mind with the tools they had. What I learned about myself is that I can achieve something even though it's hard for me at first. That I can overcome it. If I was able to do this project again I wouldn’t do anything different.
Q1 Project: Website Design
On my website you are going to see some part of life. I was to make a website to showcase myself. There is five pages. The home page, About me page, Resume page, My work page, and the contact page. My goals was to finish the website and show a part of life that I feel that is interesting.
The process of completing my website was first by looking for a website builder. Next picking a theme and thinking of what I want to showcase about myself. Then I had to step up the website the way I like it. It was difficult because I had to play around with the website and decide what fit best to my liking. Finally I had picked what theme I like and I started to type in.
I had some trouble competing this website because every time I would do something on the website it would delete and the reason for that was because I didn’t save it every time I did something new.I didn’t realize that I had to save.
What I actually ended up learning while completing this project was that it’s hard creating a website and coming up with ideas of what to say. It’s takes a while to be sacrificed with your website. I ended up changing things over and over because I didn’t like it. I feel like I really didn't learn anything new about myself but I learned how to make a website.
If I were to do this project over again I would add more things and change the theme, make it a little more interesting to the viewers.
If you were to get to do this project make it interesting and bright.
For this project my message is dedicated to my medium.Travel Project

Oral History Interview ( Ms. Rosa Nixon) By Ivana Gutierrez
Abstract,
In this interview my interviewee is talking about her being happy graduating from high school when she was younger. I ask her if she could tell me how is it different from back in the day from today. She said lived in a African American community. How her house was when she was younger. She talks about her not going to a segregated school. I ask her if she was ever discriminated About her race or skin color but she couldn't remember. I also asked if she had white friends but she didn't. And my last question I asked was why she came to Philadelphia from North Carolina and she said because there was more jobs in the north than the south.
Research
The topic I choose is when Mrs.Nixon migrated from North Carolina to Pennsylvania. She migrated in 1966, she was 23. The Great Migration is when more than 6 million African Americans relocated from the rural South to the cities of the north. From 1916 through 1970 it had a huge impact on urban life in the united States. Driven from their homes by bad economic opportunities and harsh segregationist laws, many African Americans headed north, where they took advantage of the need for industrial workers that first arose during the First World War.During the Great Migration, African Americans began to build a new place for themselves in public life, actively confronting economic, political and social challenges and creating a new black urban culture that would exert enormous influence in the decades to come. Shortly after the Civil War, large numbers of newly freed men and women left the plantations where they had served as slaves and moved to new areas, but most remained primarily in the South. In the south they had driven in a part of economic concerns. Many african americans didn’t have jobs and they were having a poor living condition, so that lead them to move to the North but they needed help to get there. Also the south was losing people and they were probably losing money. (b) In the North many african americans were looking for jobs because they heard they had more jobs than the south. Many of them were still in poor living condition because they still had a low fare waged.

Humans Of SLA@Beeber
What’s your earliest childhood memory?
“My earliest childhood memory was like 5 or 6 and I was at NC and it was a tornado on the highway so like my mom was like driving and then all of sudden it seemed like the tornado was coming towards us but it really wasn’t so but I really didn’t know what was going on so then my mom started to backing up down the highway like really really really fast and but I ain’t know what was going on all I know is that it was thundering, raining everything was blowing everywhere. So that was my earliest childhood memory”
Who’s your biggest influence in your life?
“ okay um my biggest influence is my mom because um when she was younger she did a lot of um bad things and then as I grew up she told me to stay in the right path and not to do anything wrong because... because I won't get anywhere in life. Even though sometimes she makes wrong decisions. I do follow after her too so I really look up to her."
Where do you picture yourself in ten years?
"Okay, I picture myself in ten years as um a salon owner because when I get older I really wanna own hair salon and everything and I picture myself you know working in a salon whatever and you know doing whatever when I get older."Humans Of SLA@Beeber: Ms. Jones
What is your best childhood memory? “ My best childhood memory.. Let’s see… My best childhood memory is going with my father to the university of Pennsylvania museum that is located in Philadelphia and.. and he leaving my sister, brother and I in the mummy area um where it was really dark and trying to scare us, but why it’s a special memory to me is because my father was a police officer and he didn’t take us many places, we usually we went with my mom. So to go with him somewhere alone and you know or to go with him anywhere was very cool. So and I think that’s where I get my love for museums, for being scared at the museums by the mummy’s.”
Ivana- Oh, That’s cool, cool, cool. So um my second question is
Did you always wanted to be a teacher? “No, when I was growing up, well not even growing up. I went through a lot of things when I was growing up. but when I got to be a teenager I wanted to go to college I wanted to be a Biomedical engineer, I went to school for that and realized that my drafting class, that I couldn’t uh actually visual see in 3D or to draw it so I knew that at the point I was not going to be an engineer, and then I went back to school to become a history professor in college so I think that started me wanting to be a teacher at the point. then I was able to home school my youngest, who had some speech problems and I realized then that I really like teaching, by homeschooling him.”
Ivana- That’s really cool. So my last question is
What made you choose SLA@Beeber? “I must say I did not realize that SLA Beeber was even in my neighborhood but I requested um through my school to find a school that I can walk too and I was told that SLA Beeber was here and they were taking uh student teachers and it worked out.Tips For Teenagers!
Tips for Teenagers
By: Amani, Darian, Daina, Ivana, Amna.
Based on the I-Search papers that we completed on teenage development, here are some tips for teenagers to help them be happier and to help them develop in positive ways.
A tip I can give would be that teens or children never should blame themselves for their parents divorce.
A tip I can give is think about your behaviour before you complain about you parents’ choices of disciplining.
A tip I could give to a child or teenager It’s best to listen to your mother and father because they can lead and guide you to a better understanding of the world point of view because their is many people today that don’t understand how the world really works and they are still trying to find out at the old age which could be a problem for them and others that would need help from them.
tA helpful tip is, stay away from drugs and alcohol no matter who around you does it.
A tip I would give to teens is that you don’t have to shroud your true potential to fulfill the stereotypes of that in which the world has broadcasted on television. You can be better than the stereotypes and propaganda that adults and society has created for you.

~Artist Statement~
The reason why we have pick out the sculpture we had made which was the “ Android” was because we thought it would be cool to do a thing that looks like a robot and we also decide to make it out of clay because we wanted it to be easy to make. We choose to make the “android” also because we both have android phone. #TEAMANDROID
What our sculpture says about us is that we both have android phones. Android phones help us out.
