Iman Sadat Hurricanes

Posted by Iman Sadat in Environmental Science · Sasso-Chryst · A on Monday, October 23, 2023 at 10:27 pm

How do the earth systems affect each other?

The Earth’s atmosphere is important in the creation of storms. A hurricane gets its energy from warm ocean water. When sea surface temperatures rise, evaporation occurs and latent heat energy is released into the atmosphere.

How can an understanding of environmental science aid in handling natural disasters?

Understanding environmental science may help in dealing with natural disasters by monitoring natural phenomena such as weather patterns, ocean currents, and river levels in order to predict natural disasters such as tsunamis, earthquakes, floods, and, of course, hurricanes. Because of the early warning, communities can prepare and evacuate, decreasing the loss of life and property.

Lynsay: Intro To Hurricanes

Visual Component:

During our presentation, we will showcase a poster on how to be prepared for hurricanes.

How do the earth’s systems affect each other?

Hurricanes develop by starting in the hydrosphere as warm air and ocean tides interact. Weather and climate also play a big part in how these systems interact. Tropical areas are more likely to be the perfect place for Hurricanes to develop through the earth’s systems.

How can an understanding of environmental science aid in handling natural disasters?

In environmental science, by studying natural disasters, we can better understand how these disasters work and how to properly prepare for them.

Through this project, we were able l to research interesting facts about Hurricanes and we can’t wait to share them with the class on how many people are affected by hurricanes and how to prepare.

Faliku S - Hurricanes

The Earth’s atmosphere plays a critical role in the formation of hurricanes. Warm ocean water provides the energy source for a hurricane. When sea surface temperatures rise, it increases evaporation and releases latent heat energy into the atmosphere.

Understanding environmental science can aid in handling natural disasters by monitoring various natural events, such as weather patterns, ocean currents, and river levels, to predict natural disasters like tsunamis, earthquakes, floods, and obviously hurricanes. This early warning allows communities to prepare and evacuate, reducing the loss of life and property.

Sa?d Natural Disasters

VISUAL COMPONENT

At a random time in our presentation, we will make loud noises; maybe with the tables, chairs, and/or other items (illustrating an Earthquake). Students/audience will then perform the safety precautions we will explain during an earthquake.

How do the earth systems affect each other?

Earthquakes start out by a disruption in the Geosphere. This usually directly affects the atmosphere by releasing methane into the air and the hydrosphere by causing huge waves.

How can an understanding of environmental science aid in handling natural disasters?

In environmental science, by studying natural hazards, we can better understand how these phenomena work and the threats they pose to humans and the Earth systems.

Wildfires are most commonly started inside of a forest due to the vast amount of dryland. It is very flammable and can spread as quick as a few minutes.

Earth systems can affect each other in drastic ways. When a wildfire happens, not only does the geosphere get burned, but this has a direct impact on the biosphere as well as the atmosphere. Elements of the hydrosphere can be used to put out or control wildfires.

Learning more about our environment can help aid in the prevention and preparation for these natural disasters.

How do the earth systems affect each other?

Earthquakes start out by a disruption in the Geosphere, this usually affects the atmosphere by releasing methane into the air and the hydrosphere by causing huge waves which then causes pollution in the biosphere.

How can an understanding of environmental science aid in handling natural disasters?

I believe that it can help with preparing for future events that may happen and find plans for health to help with survivors who may have been injured in a crisis

At a random time in our presentation, we will make loud noises; maybe with the tables, chairs and/or other items (illustraiting an Earthquake). Students/audience will then perform the safety precautions that we will explain to them in the circumstances of an earthquake.

How do the earth systems affect each other?

When earthquakes begin to happen, a disruption happens in the geosphere. Methane is then released into the atmosphere.

How can an understanding of environmental science aid in handling natural disasters?

We can learn different situations and it can help us prepare for these natural disasters.
