Caylin's Survival Guide

Online I’m just me, I don’t have to act a certain way or try and fool people because that does no good for me. I appear to be a normal teenage girl who just posted stuff just to post them. People perceive me as who I am a fun nice regular person who posted pictures of food, what she’s doing, and probably invisible sense when I searched my name i didn’t pop up. Now when I post I don’t just do it carelessly I always think to myself would this offended people?  would this hurt me? would this create a bad reputation of me or affect what people think of me? I watch what i post before i actually post it. The Lack of Control, Permanence, Immediacy has impact on our online lives because now we know what you post can’t actually be deleted online cause others can take a screenshot or share it and they now have the copy so it’s hard to get rid of the post. My thoughts on social media backgrounds checks by potential employers is that I’m actually surprise and shocked. I feel this way because when they go to an interview they act differently than what they post and you usually don’t expect that kind of behavior or actions to that person. Free speech is something that gives people the right to say what they want online, In my opinion nothing is protected online once you post it than everyone can see it. An Internet troll is someone who harass people just to get them mad. The goals of an internet troll is to get them angry. We can stop trolling by keeping blocking them and ignoring them so they can’t bother you. Pros: People don’t know who you are Cons: If you say something horrible and someone calls the cops they can figure out who you are. Don’t post anything you will regret, Don’t post anything offensive, Ignore all trolls.

I love that you can be yourself online and that it seems as if you do not just try to fit in with the crowd. Not a lot of people can truthfully say that they posts things that reflect who they truly are and that they aren't just putting it out there because others are. I also liked that you added questions in between your blog post. Lack of control, permanence and immediacy can also impact our later lives because when if applying for a job after college they usually run a heavy background report and if the employers find something that wasn't very appealing to how you are and that may affect their decision on if they would want to hire you or not. Have you ever been an internet troll?
