PSA - Heart Diseases and Strokes

Posted by Asmar Beyah in Biology of the Human Body · Aziz · E on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at 7:18 pm

For this project, we chose heart disease and strokes because of how huge it is in the world. Heart conditions and diseases are one of the leading causes of death worldwide, so we thought that we could get a lot of information on this topic. Each of my groupmates contributed with the research, making of the video, and editing/finalizing the video. We spent so much time on editing and making the video and I believe that it was good on how much effort we put into it, I just think we should have done it earlier so it could be less stress. I would have personally not procrastinated with this project so I can have a better process grade. The good thing about creating a PSA was the way our PSA can reach the SLA audience and community. This PSA can start nothing but a chain effect to whereas though people outside of the SLA community will see and use it.

For my capstone, I wanted to focus on African American hairstyles and hair care because of how much i care about my own hair. I wanted to make a video and inform my peers on the history of African American hairstyles and hair care. The video contains content about the struggles of “black hair”, where we get our inspiration from with our new hairstyles and products, and also how has hair and hair products evolved. I also talked about people who influenced our hair. The video is a digitized timeline where I date back information as far as the 1400s. I feel as though this is important because a lot of people in SLA@Beeber have now been taking care of their hair and it is starting to become a trend in our school. You can walk down the halls and hear females students talking about different hairstyles they want or different hair products they use. For the young men in our school, a lot of them have been brushing their hair or wearing a durag, not as a fashion statement but as a way to care for their hair. I want people to know where their hair products and hairstyles originated from. I feel as though that will make people will appreciate their hair more if they learn the information I will give them.

Q4 Benchmark

Posted by Asmar Beyah in Intro to Design and Multmiedia on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at 3:02 am

Slide 2:

Here goes my Quarter 1 project

Slide 3:

The project was a website design project where you design your own website about your academic and overall life. The goal for this project was inform people about your life, both academic and everyday life.

Slide 4:

What was successful about my website was my “About Me” page. I feel as though I gave enough information about me and gave information about my personal/academic life that people should know.

Slide 5:

Here goes my Quarter 2 Benchmark.

Slide 6:

The project I decided to work on was the 3D modeling project. I had to choose a design that I wanted to focus on, such asa  house. I chose a house because that’s where I am most comfortable at and I feel as though other people can connect as well.

Slide 7:

What was successful about this project was the garage design of the house. I made the car fit the garage proportionally better and always improved on the car’s design.

Slide 8:

Here goes my Quarter 3 Benchmark.

Slide 9:

The project I decided to work on was the Image editing project. I had to choose a certain image or certain images and change the aspect and design of the photo(s). I had changed my whole design because I felt my first design wasn’t as creative.

Slide 10:

What was successful about my project was the drastic change in design, at first I wanted to make an eyeball with fire in it but I had a different choice in design.

Slide 11:

Here goes my revised project that I chose.

Slide 12:

I chose this project to revise because I felt as though I had the most success on. I went from the fire eyeball, to the cat and the forest, to my Quarter 3 project, to my revised project.

Slide 13;

Here goes two images showing the changes of before I started this project to After I was finished.

Slide 14:

I enjoyed seeing the changes I made from the finished Quarter 3 project to my revised Project, I feel as though there is a major change and the image looks totally different.

Slide 15:

My area of growth is creating designs, not for just my revised project but also my Quarter 2 benchmark.

Slide 16:

A skill I used to have when I was younger was drawing and coloring. I know it sounds childish but I feel as though that I was good at those things and that would be helpful when it comes to image editing.

Slide 17:

One project idea I have is to cooperate your own artistic design of any kind and use computer editing to design the picture even more. I don’t know what program is needed for that but I feel as though that would be a great idea.

Slide 18:

My first tip is to use as much time as you have to think about putting creativity in your project and don’t make it bland or dull.

Slide 19:

Another tip is that if you don’t like your design, you can always change it to make a better design that you and others will like.

Slide 20:

My last tip is to don’t be afraid of putting your personal aspects in your project. Make your project have a personal connection to you so it will make it easier for people understand why you chose your certain project design.

Image Editing

Posted by Asmar Beyah in Intro to Design and Multmiedia on Friday, March 24, 2017 at 1:58 pm

My project is IMage editing, where I took a certain picture and changed it to an image that is different. The tool I chose to use was Pixlr. I wanted to change the scenery of the image. The image I chose to use is cat’s eyes. The original image was very light and bright. I wanted to totally change that around. I wanted to make the image dark. So I darkened the image and changed the image to green. I chose green because cat’s can see in the dark and the color they see is green. I also added another picture on top of the cat’s head of a dark forest. I felt as though this gave the picture a dark and mysterious view. The last tools I used was the brush and the eraser. I used the brush to make the background black and the eraser to smooth out the additional image. I actually changed the image I decided to focus on at first. It was also an eye but I felt as though I couldn’t really do anything with it. So I changed the image and the goal I planned on completing when I started this project. I learned that Image editing is more than just adding a filter and being finished. It takes actual skill and precision. I also learned that I actually have skills in image editing. I did way more than I thought I could do such as adding an image inside an image and making the image fit. I would use my time in class more efficiently next time because I could have done better if I put in more time. I would advise anyone to plan out exactly everything you want to do and not wing it. This project inspired me to look more at image editing and try to do some on my free time.

I will insert the final image, the image that I first started out with, and the additional image that was put in the project.

3D Modelling Project: Q2

Posted by Asmar Beyah in Intro to Design and Multmiedia on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at 10:53 am

My 3D project shows a home. I decided to design that because I feel as though that is where everyone feels or should feel comfortable there. Houses come in many different designs but I chose this one because I like the way it looks. At first, I had to figure out how to use Tinkercad and it’s different tools. I was required to complete three lessons that was given to me on the Tinkercad website. One of my failures was scaling the car and garage. The car was way too big to ever fit in the garage so I had to make the car smaller. I didn’t have any other failures, other things were tweaks to make the design look better. I learned that making a design on any website or designing program is not simple. There is a lot of measuring and you can never make your design perfect on your first try. You will need to edit and tweak some things to make it look nice in your eyes and other people’s eyes. I learned that I tend to not try my hardest when I think a project is simple or not complex. I misunderstood the level of difficulty of this project and didn’t try my best with the design or with the process of this project. I would spend more time actually perfecting the design if I was able to re-do this project. That would give me the time to be more creative with my design and make it look way better. I would advise that no one should underestimate this project, especially if you are working on 3D modeling. This project didn’t give me any inspiration, it just showed me what it’s like to work on a project that has to do with computer modelling. This tool let me show visually that you should always feel comfortable at home or know that there is no place like home. I designed a home so the thought of someone being comfortable at their own home. Hopefully this inspired them to design their very own house and whenever they need to make themselves feel comfortable, they look at their design.

  • A (brief) description of your project and project goals, including what you hoped to learn through completing the project.

In this Project, I had to create a website that was mainly about my academic and personal life. There were pages that including information about me, a page about my academic career, a project that I completed, and a contact page so people can contact me if they have any problems.

  • A (brief) description of the process you went through to complete the project.

I had to complete several checkpoints. They were made to complete the project the project at a good pace and help you check for any errors.

  • Any successes and/or failures you encountered. If you describe a failure, explain how you overcame or worked around that failure.

Success: Completed the entire website quickly so I can go back and fix any errors.

Failure: I had some grammatical error that were noticed by one of my peers.

  • What you actually ended up learning through the completion of the project.

Nothing

  • What you learned about yourself through the completion of the project.

Nothing, everything that was presented was information I already knew.

  • How you would do this project differently if you were to do it all over again.

I wouldn’t do anything different.

  • Any tips or hints for others attempting this project.

Just pace yourself

  • What this project inspired you to do next.

Nothing.

  • Proper citations for any work that is not yours

  • In this project, did the message dictate the medium or did the medium dictate the message?

The medium dictate the message because the portfolio that I provided was a big part of my website.

Asmar: What is your earliest memory?

Ms.Noel: My earliest I can think of is my kindergarten teacher. I remember her doing the alphabet, like stuffed animals, and learning the alphabet in my kindergarten class. That’s my earliest memory.

Asmar: What was the happiest moment of your life?

Ms.Noel: Probably when I had my kids. When I had Brody.

Asmar: What are you proudest of in your life?

Ms.Noel: My kids. My kids definitely.

Asmar: If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

Ms.Noel: I would travel to Hawaii because I think it’s a beautiful place and it’s warm and tranquil and I don’t think I will ever leave.

Asmar: How would you like to be remembered?

Ms.Noel: I would like to be remembered as a kind and loving person.

Mobile Phones Infographic

I chose this Infographic topic because I feel that everyone feels that their cell phone is the most important thing in their pocket or purse. Cell phones have been the most interesting thing and most focused on thing on the Earth today. Billions of people have cell phones today and that number will increase as long as our population of humans increase and cell phones will evolve as long as humans evolve.

In this Rule Of Thirds photo, the young woman in the front is one of three people to be cyber bullied. She is very upset due to all the harmful things that the two people in the back have said to her electronically. 4,400 people die each year due to suicide because of cyber bullying. No one should be bullied online or offline. Make the number 4,400 turn into 0.
