During the Quarter 4 Benchmark in Anatomy and Physiology the topic that was given to my group member and I was HIV. This topic plays a big role in a lot of peoples lives who live in world. It is extremely important that we read and understand this disease. I was able to help my partner Wayne with filming and I was responsible for checkpoint 2 as a whole. The biggest thing I learned from thi s has to be that there are people out there who live with this and only they understand how they feel. I also enjoyed hearing Ms.Lees point of view on the medical field.

When it comes down to summarizing the completion of my senior Capstone project I wouldn't know where to begin. Last year Zoie Jones and I ran an ILP that went by the name of girl talk. While that was pretty successful we wanted to delve deeper into things and understand the young women we worked with on a deeper level. With that in mind we kept the same foundation but changed the message. Our message this year was for these young women to find beauty in everything and ultimately feel beautiful about themselves and the people that they are. I think it is extremely important that young women feel beautiful from the inside before they feel beauty outside. Our product was a video compilation of all the things we did and   some of the reflections we had after sessions. This video is full of selfies that all of our girls have taken and pictures of things they find beautiful,

Election Volunteering

During my election day volunteering, I walked around my neighborhood before going to my polling place. I heard a lot of megaphones, promoting the candidates that were running, and it kind of reminded me of the Hunger Games, the way the car was riding down the street, yelling out the big important message. I then went to a recreation called Dorothy Emanuel and it is located in the 50th ward. There are quite a few polling places around my house. When I got there I looked around at the giant pieces of pink paper on the wall. I also spoke to some of the people who were outside of the polling place promoting the candidate of their choice. I met a lot of everyday people, who are interested in the common good of their community. The experience I had kind of took me by surprise, honestly because I didn't really think that people took voting that serious unless it was for the President of course. It made me feel important to be involved in an election in Philadelphia. My experience was also a learning experience. I definitely learned that not everybody wants to talk, even if they are sitting around doing nothing. I don't really have any questions about elections, but I would like to know why can't people vote from home. Why can't they download an app or call in there votes. I think that would be an interesting way to advance voting technology

Poesía Proyecto

Posted by Jada Thomas in SPANISH 2 - Moran - D on Monday, April 13, 2015 at 3:03 pm

  • Nombre: Jada Thomas               Clase: D band

El  Poeta: Jorge Luis Borges

Roto. Sin esperanza. No hacia ningún lado.

"EVERY MAN WILL BE EQUAL", "Is all I can remember"

Reasearch:

One topic that my grandmom kept on discussing was the fact that she was not able to go and eat with white people and resturaunts were segregated. I didnt find this that interesting but she did so we continued to talk about. She expressed to me how when someone would come in town they would hang the hotdogs outside of the window? Im not sure how accurate that is, but she felt strongly about it.

In comparision to the research I did based on it it sounds about right some sources I used were

Abstract:
Shirley will look back over some of the rough things she went through and be very hesitant to speak on them she was kinda indenial and really didnt want to go into to detail she believed that she was given a great education and that she did great in life, when she moved uo north. I know that there were a-lot of gruesome detail’s that she could have recognized but she explains after the interview that she really couldnt bring her mind to that place. She describes how the bathrooms were arranged and how life itself was.

Transcript:

JT: Good Afternoon Shirley how are you doing this afternoon

SB: Fine.

JT: And how did that make you feel?

SB: It really didnt bother me

JT: So you were okay with being treated not equal?

Let it Shine

Posted by Jada Thomas in Physics - Gray - E on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at 10:18 am
Through the process of this Physics project me and my partner Aaliyah have had a very hard time putting our ideas into action. Our first Idea was to build a microphone and make it light up to how powerful a microphone can be for music and for your own voice. The we moved onto crystals and that didn't work to well. Then we were left with a flashlight. Flash lights light up on their own and we were well of that. There is more than one way to make it shine. So this project shows that when things get hard you keep trying work with what you have and make it shine. This project shows that you light can still shine even when everything you do is leading you into the dark. This project actually means alot to us because we worked hard not only with our hands but we worked with our hearts so this project means more than everything to us. It may not be the best but we tried and at the end of the day that's all that matters.
