Human Body Video

Posted by Mark Palmer in Anatomy and Physiology · Aziz · D on Friday, June 2, 2017 at 1:55 pm

The reason why we put the things that we put into our video is because we want those who are watching our video to have a good insight about what it is that we are trying to teach the viewers. All of us that are in this group have are in some sort of sports activity so it is kind of directed to us and those who can relate to us. Because of the fact that our topic is Nutrition, physical activity and obesity is our topic that we are supposed to be doing I tied the nutrition into the scene by making us talk about how the foods that we eat can still affect our body even if we are still physically in shape. The way that I tie physical activity into the scene is because we are running on the track and all of us are in shape to the point where we all look fit and we can be good actors for the scene. The way that obisity ties into this scene is that I made another scene where me and mike are in the future and we get fat and jenna just says I told you so and we didn’t listen to her. Provide a reflection on how you contributed to the project and the role you played in the group. The role that I played in this group has been larger than anyone else because of the fact that everyone else has done a pinch of work and it’s kind of frustrating to work with lazy people. I will not be affected by their laziness.

Quarter 4 Anatomy Benchmark: Teenage Pregnancy.

Posted by Mikayla Brailsford in Anatomy and Physiology · Aziz · D on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at 7:58 pm

Teenage Pregnancy is a public health issue, that has seen a surge in recent years. While you watch this video, you will see a girl, who has fallen victim to becoming a teenage mother, and the reluctant father.

For my final benchmark for the course Biology Human Body, my benchmark was a Public Service Announcement regarding Teen Pregnancy.

The reason why I chose the topic teen pregnancy was because it was the topic we were given to talk about, in addition to the fact that Teen Pregnancy is a public health issue. There are too many teenagers out here that aren't taking the necessary measures to prevent themselves from becoming parents. They have to put their dreams and aspirations on hold because they have to care for a child.

When I reflect upon how I contributed to the project, I contributed quite a lot. I had wrote the majority of the script, and had even starred in the video, as the pregnant girl. The role I played in the group was the organizer and being the person who contacted the different organizations, as I kept all of our information in order, as well as contacting the people we were supposed to email.

I think that overall we did extremely well on the project. Our video came out nice, and we had good interview questions and answers, as well as the fact that our group had a wonderful dynamic. We laughed together, but when it came time to get work done, we got it done. I think that if we could do this project differently, I think we could have started the interview process a lot earlier, as we didn't secure an agency to interview until the last minute, as previous agencies just kept hanging up on us, or sending us to voicemail.

The most meaningful part in creating this PSA for me was the learning aspect of it. From conducting interviews, and doing research I learned that the importance of pregnancy prevention programs are more crucial then they've ever been, and that they should not be defunded by the new administration because then the rates will shoot through the roof, which is ridiculous.

The factors which relate to teen pregnancy are economics, politics, in addition to society. The role that I believe that society plays a role in teen pregnancy because if the environment the teenager is growing up in is surrounded by pregnant teens, then they'll feel compelled to do the same thing, and they have no proper guidance as to why this isn't the way they should go. Politics and economics plays a major role in teenage pregnancy because politicians in the Trump administration are working to defund Planned Parenthood, or reduce funding for other pregnancy prevention places, instead of seeing all of the good that these places offer.

Quarter 4 - PSA Benchmark - Teen Pregnancy

Posted by Alexis Ngo in Anatomy and Physiology · Aziz · D on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at 7:00 pm

In our video, we discussed the topic of teen pregnancy. We wanted to inform others about why teen pregnancy is such a big issue as well as how it can be prevented and the resources available for those struggling with teen pregnancy. During this project, I was in charge of video production (i.e filming and editing). The role I played in the group I beleive was no greater or less than that of my groupmates. I think that we worked together well to try and find someone to intrview, however, I felt as though we could have added a little more info into our video. I think that the most meaningful part of creating our PSA for me was learning more about teen pregnancy. When I started I personally did not think much about the topic however having to take the time to research and learn I never know the impact that it made on our society politically. I think that during these times as well and becuase of the impact of the most recent presidential election that might have put a negative impact on the possible support there is going to be for those struggling with teen pregnancy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4ZjS1_tueI

HIV & Aids

During the Quarter 4 Benchmark in Anatomy and Physiology the topic that was given to my group member and I was HIV. This topic plays a big role in a lot of peoples lives who live in world. It is extremely important that we read and understand this disease. I was able to help my partner Wayne with filming and I was responsible for checkpoint 2 as a whole. The biggest thing I learned from thi s has to be that there are people out there who live with this and only they understand how they feel. I also enjoyed hearing Ms.Lees point of view on the medical field.

Alcohol Abuse & Public Health

Posted by Serenity Harris in Anatomy and Physiology · Aziz · D on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at 3:00 pm

Overall, I enjoyed this project however the process was very stressful. Starting with the interview, it took a while for people to get back to us because they were so busy. It took us a few weeks until we were finally able to get the interview. When we did, we were able to ask Dr. Catherine Williams all the questions we had a phone interview which was over a half hour long. After finally getting our interview we then worked on filming other clips for our final piece. That was moving very smoothly until we had some problems with getting the footage off the cameras. From this project though we did learn a lot about how alcohol abuse in one person can impact many others.

Motor Vehicle Saftey

Posted by Ryan Swann in Anatomy and Physiology · Aziz · D on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at 8:55 am

Our society is becoming more and more dependent on technology. A huge factor is the way we travel. Our primary source of travel is by car, which is at times is incredibly dangerous. It was something I thought would be interesting to research. I was able to look at upcoming solutions to past danger concerns. I did research on the way some car manufactures are looking into creating robotic solutions to add to their car models, in order to make them safer and less likely to crash. I don't think I did anything very well, however, I know I can work on being more involved and communicative with my group members
I think an important part of creating the PSA was being able to understand the issues in our traveling systems and look into the best possible solutions. I also looked at the issues that could arise out of those possible solutions. If the solutions were worse than the initial problem than it would cause more health issues, larger death count, and a huge amount of financial loss. With a financial loss comes damage to the economy and the ability to provide health care. An increase in injuries and death, and a decrease in healthcare stability is the conclusion if a car modification fails. This is why jobs in car manufacturing are important to health and the economy.

Q4 Benchmark - Lex Martinez

Posted by Lex Martinez in Anatomy and Physiology · Aziz · D on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at 8:29 am

The content of our video is a reenactment of Lex’s interview with Wendy Burke, a nurse who works at Jefferson Hospital in Abington. This video is a reenactment because I was unable to record her voice or video record during my time in the hospital, the staff there felt uncomfortable. Instead, I wrote a transcript and tried to think of a creative way to show the interview which involved Olamide and Jame. It was a very interesting interview because I learned a lot on how people are fighting the battle of addiction and I learned how she deals with people that suffer from an opioid addiction that enters into her hospital. We also chose this because it was very different than advocating for cigarettes which I am very used to after my experience.

I think we edited the video very well, used our time very well, and attempted to tell a meaningful story. I think we could have portrayed the characters in the interview much better and their performance could have been much better...but looking at the cards dealt, we produced the best work we could have.

The most meaningful part of the creating a PSA is trying to tell a story and the call to action that you want the millions of people to take after watching your PSA. Trying to tell that story is the best part for me.

There are many factors that contribute to public health but some of the major determinants would be income, employment, housing, education, and social support.
These play a major role in the healthcare system because these are the major categories in which our determinants of health fall under. There are so many determinants we need categories to seek what we can do politically and how we can change our economy and social elements.
The process of research has a focus on a set end goal which we actually didn’t do. Instead, we used the research to invoke emotion and to tell a meaningful story by creating our PSA.
There are many careers which apply to both fields, you could be a researcher that seeks to find the effect on public health situations on the body and etc.

Wayne & Jada's Hiv PSA

Posted by Wayne Stackhouse in Anatomy and Physiology · Aziz · D on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at 8:29 am

This project is something that mme and Jada collaborated on and created together. It's about Hiv and a skit and interviews of people who have it andpeope who help people who have it.

The topic that was given to us was HIV. I kept things on track and made sure that the project got done. The most meaning part was completing the project. The was a serious factor of public health because HIV can be given trough blood and any fluid type of transfer among someone who has HIV. The society we live in today don't seem to care as much as they used to about HIV, there are people with HIV in politics and people who are economically wealthy and can buy things are usually not affected by their HIV for example Magic  Johnson. The process of research since the 90's have rapid increasing after people got a treatment scientists have been working on more treatments and a cure for HIV. The CDC, is something that applies because they control diseases so everyone can be healthy and not allow diseases and viruses like HIV spread.

Heart Disease and Stroke PSA

Posted by Javon Michaels in Anatomy and Physiology · Aziz · D on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at 11:03 am

My topic for the project was Heart Disease and Stroke. We had to make a video and our video included and interview, skit, and facts. We didn't get to choose the topic we wanted we had to pick out  of a container and whatever we pulled out is what our topic was and we got Heart Disease and Stroke.

In the group I helped with checkpoints. I came up with some the interview questions. I help record the video. I also helped with the research and facts during this project. I think we could have communicated a little more throughout the project but I am content with the final submission

Although I am glad it is over I learned new things especially from Jennifer which was the person we interviewed. I am glad we came together and got the job done.
