The Turtle In Orange Water

Posted by Nigeria Parker in ART ADV - Hertz - b2 on Friday, May 8, 2015 at 9:17 am

This is my turtle in orange water. It is clearly a turtle in orange water. It didn't take much time to paint and draw this but I had fun doing it. My goal of this painting was to use only three colors. The colors that I used were blue, red, and yellow. I've learned that blue and red do not make purple. I thought that was kind of funny. I learned that the different shades of colors never end. My favorite part in doing this painting was maxing paints and creating bight orange and a dark greenish blue. If I were to do this project over I would change a this except the colors I used.

Quarter 4 Project -Eliza Meketon

Posted by Eliza Meketon in ART ADV - Hertz - b2 on Friday, May 8, 2015 at 8:41 am

1) Describe your project.

I made a duct tape purse of one of my favorite cartoon characters named Nibbler from the show futurama. It is made just based on his face and everything is made out of duct tape. The purse strap is the only thing not entirely out of duct tape and is in fact an old jump rope covered in duct tape.

2) What did you learn while completing this project?

I learned that duct tape can be hard to predict how it will react and how flexible and adaptable it really is.

3) What was the hardest part about completing this project?

The hardest part of this project was figuring out how I was going to cut the pieces and make them into the shape that I wanted.

4) What was the most fun/exciting part?

The most exciting part was when I finished the bag and got to see all the hard work that I did finally paid off. I really liked my final product.

5) If you were to do this project over again, what would you do differently?
I would definitely try to make sure that I did not waste as much duct tape as I did. I think maybe I should have made  more precise measurements when cutting the tape.

Art Project 3

Posted by Cameron Lockett in ART ADV - Hertz - b2 on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 12:10 am

  1. Describe your project
I made a drawing of a bird that I first sketched then painted over.

  2. What knowledge did you already have about the project before you started?

I had made sketches for my last two projects. I had little knowledge with painting for this subject.

  3. What new skill did you want to learn coming into the project?
I wanted to learn how to paint over sketches seamlessly. I want to be better at painting, so I started out with sketches first and then painted over them.

  4. Did you accomplish this goal?
I did since I made a painting through sketches and painting techniques.

  5. How do you know you accomplished the goal? If you didn’t accomplish the goal, why do you think that is?
I know i accomplished the goal since I made the bird painting to my liking. The paint clashes somewhat and isn’t the neatest, but it was something knew that I tried. I feel like it turned out ok.

  6. What other skill(s) did you learn along the way?
I learned different techniques for painting. Such as how different strokes and dexterity of the water change the way the painting turns out.

  7. What are you most proud of in this project?

I’m most proud of the way the bird turned out. I like the color scheme of it since the blue makes a sky like feel and brown is seen common on birds.

  8. What would you do differently if you had to do the project over again?

I would change the background. The background doesn’t fit as much as I would like it to with the bird.

I didn’t accomplish my goal. I wasn’t able to get all 12 pages.

  1. How do you know you accomplished the goal? If you didn’t accomplish the goal, why do you think that is?

I didn’t accomplish my goal, because I redid all the pages I had already done.

  1. What other skill(s) did you learn along the way?

I learned how to do the shading in this style of manga.

  1. What are you most proud of in this project?

I think I was able to make the artwork look very professionally done.

I wouldn’t have redone some of my art, so that I could have done more pages.

  1. Describe your project

I drew different kinds of eyes with lots of detail.

  1. What knowledge did you already have about the project before you started?
I knew how to draw still life objects and have experience drawing things while looking at them.

  2. What new skill did you want to learn coming into the project?
I was never particularly good at drawing eyes, I believe them to be the most difficult human feature to depict. I wanted to improve my eye drawing skills, with humans as well as animals.

  3. Did you accomplish this goal?
I accomplished this goal by taking my time and practicing drawing not only one kind of eye, but three different variations, including a human eye, a cat eye and a lizard eye.

  4. How do you know you accomplished the goal? If you didn’t accomplish the goal, why do you think that is?
I know I accomplished this goal because I compared my eyes to the original eyes that I modeled mine over and I think I drew them just as good, if not better.

  5. What other skill(s) did you learn along the way?
I learned sketching skills with pencil and improved on drawing objects while looking at them.

  6. What are you most proud of in this project?
I am very proud of the accuracy of my drawings and how realistic they look.

  7. What would you do differently if you had to do the project over again?

If I were to do the project over again, I would allot more time to my project instead of

focusing on the accomplishments and the goals and proposals and such.

Abstract Art

Posted by Ashley Bailey in ART ADV - Hertz - b2 on Friday, April 10, 2015 at 9:18 am

  1. Describe your project

My project is a form of abstract art. You see a stream of crayola crayons dripping down the canvas with the word grow highlighted at the bottom. To me it’s sorta like the crayons dripping are continuously growing and me as a person I feel like I am always continuously growing. Even at the roughest times, I always want to grow in some kind of way.

  1. What knowledge did you already have about the project before you started?

I had just knew that the crayons were made of of wax and once anything wax getting heated it starts leaking. Also, I knew what materials I needed and what techniques to test out so I could have made up my final decision come time for the final project.

  1. What new skill did you want to learn coming into the project?

Going into this project I wanted to learn how to be in control of the crayons. What that means is the way the crayons dripped and how much they dripped I wanted to be determined by me. I did not just want to make a blob of colors.

  1. Did you accomplish this goal?

Yes, I have accomplished this goal and I loved completing this project. If, I could I would do this again.

  1. How do you know you accomplished the goal? If you didn’t accomplish the goal, why do you think that is?

I am very pleased with what I created and I’m not just saying that as a settlement. I really love what I have created. I love the feedback that I have been getting as well. When you look at something and really admire it that’s how you know that you have created something well and I feel as though I am going to actually use this piece and hang it somewhere.

  1. What other skill(s) did you learn along the way?

I learned that when melting the crayons it was better not to hold the heat gun too close to the crayons because this would created blobs of the colors to come out. Whereas what I had to do was hold the heating gun away and on an angle to get just drips to come out of the crayons.

  1. What are you most proud of in this project?

I am most proud that I have completed the project only because it seemed like I kept hesitating about my ideas. I knew that I wanted to do something with melting crayons, but I was so unsure about the concept behind what I was actually going to do. Now, that I have created this piece I am so proud that I finished it, it’s on time, and I am so proud of what I have done.

  1. What would you do differently if you had to do the project over again?

If I had to do this project over again the only thing that I would change is maybe trying to do a different picture. Maybe, I would try to make an actual picture instead of just lines. I would learn how to use a different method in regards to making the crayons move different ways.
