Color Wheel Project

Posted by Bahiyah Corbin in Art 2 · Hertz · b1 on Monday, October 31, 2016 at 10:21 am

Color Wheel is a circle with different colored sectors used to show the relationship between colors. For this project I chose to do a ballerina’s dance with two layers. I created this work because it was very unique and different. Also, I was able to put my own spin on the design and background.Overall I think I good job and took my time on each color to create the right tints. I chose to do an light purple and black round to complaint the color wheel of the ballerina's dress.

I expected my audience to help me make my art work better. My partner gave me both positive and negative feedback about my artwork. My current work relates to one of my previous projects when I had to create a pattern of colors. My art work fits in Modern Day art when it comes to different types of contemporary art.

A source that was inspiration to my artwork was a similar printing by another high school student. An artist that I have been influnced by is my current/ past art teachers. Their art work has shown me how to put my own twist on artwork that I create to be more unique. This work fits into a series of work because I am able to use what I learned about the colors in father more projects. A certain technique that was important was the type of paint brush and amount of paint I used for each color. A new technique that I learned during this process was using.

Q1 | Color Wheel | Blog Post

Posted by Jada Reynolds in Art 2 · Hertz · b1 on Monday, October 31, 2016 at 10:17 am

I created a generic color wheel. My overall vision for this work didn’t come out the way I expected it to come out though. It looks okay but I feel like I could have done so much better. I also think the people who look at it will just see it as another color wheel and not something extraordinary. I thought it would’ve looked nice if I made the primary colors have triangles in it.

My current work relates to my previous work because I used colors in all my other artwork and I used all of these colors in those as well. My work also relates to historic work because they probably only used primary colors and had to make other colors to get the work they wanted to achieve. I created this work because I thought it would look nice. I think what ruined my work was going over the colors over and over again. That’s why it looks messy.

Artist Statement

The object of the project was to see how colors mixed and see how three primary colors could mix into many different colors. We could have done an ordinary color wheel, but I decided that I wanted to do a dream catcher because it had a lot more parts and it was more complex than a regular wheel.

My overall vision when I started the project was to do something different and unique, but make sure it was easy enough to incorporate all the colors of the color wheel. Some of my colors like blue-green and yellow-green came out looking a weird looking gray. I think my audience will react in a positive way because my drawing was very unique and where I placed the colors was thought out. My current work relates to my previous work , because in 2nd grade we used to do free sketches , and when we started our project in this class, we had the choice to do any kind of sketch that we wanted. My art fits in with the history of contemporary art because the color wheel was how artists around the world learned how to mix colors. Also, people get dreamcatchers tattooed on themselves in the modern world. One of my influences in the art world is Frida Kahlo. She’s an artist that I really paid attention to, so when I do do an art project, I compare my art to hers. I feel that this was portrayed in my dreamcatcher.

I think my art doesn’t fit into my group of art projects because I’ve never worked on something with so many components and room for error. All of my other projects were simple. A new technique I learned from this project was how to mix colors to make new and mix colors that aren’t into a new but are met at the middle (ex. Yellow-green and blue). Overall, this project was a success and I learned new techniques and a little bit about the history of color mixing.

Color wheel

Posted by Samantha Green in Art 2 · Hertz · b1 on Monday, October 31, 2016 at 9:38 am

The work I created was a color wheel , I choose to make mine like a umbrella with a person standing under it in the rain because I thought it was creative and cool I like how the circle was a cool idea to make as an umbrella. This work was created to show the difference between primary , secondary , tertiary and tint colors. To make sure I know the difference and how to mix colors. My Overall vision for this was to Just get a good grade and make sure I have a complete understanding for mixing paints and to know  the difference between all colors and what they change to once you mix them.

What I expect from my audience is that they won't necessarily look at the umbrella portion but they will look at the paints and understand that I only started off with certain colors and had to mix them to get others. I think once they understand what I had to go through to get the other paints they’ll think that it’s really cool and not so much difficult you’ll just have to know what you're doing This current work relates to my previous work because I started off with certain colors that’s all I could use to get my work now with is mixed with multiple colors. My art fits the history of art practice because you had to keep going through trials to get the right color for example starting off I only had blue red and yellow I had to mix a few colors to get green and purple. The inspiration I got from my project came from Mrs.Hertz I really liked hers so I decided to do mine like that I thought it was really creative.

A certain technique to this art that is important is that you may mess up  a few times but you have to keep trying until you mix and get the right color it's all about PATIENCE. The only artist I will ever be influenced by is Mrs. Wonderful Hertz because she gives me all my ideas and I go off of that. A new technique I learned is in making white colors when you add white to the color , it comes out really light and pretty which I like . A technique to this work is important because if you don't know how to mix paints you won't get the job done or so it correctly. This can fit into a series of longer work because once you know how to mix paint when you create something you can do anything and make it art by adding this and that! So in a nutshell I chose to do my color wheel as a umbrella I thought it was creative cute and straightforward to get the job done especially because a umbrella could be cut into to certain parts with different designs that  gave me the choice of putting my colors how ever I wanted as long as they were on there
