Lucas Borschell Capstone

Posted by Lucas Borschell in Senior Capstone · Elish · ILP/TFI/CAP on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 10:55 pm

My capstone is a book, which contains several short stories. The stories are made to represent themes and ideas from people close to me in the senior class, as well as their feelings about the school. Throughout the process of meeting with my mentor and altering my plan, I have been working on these stories and adjusting them to make them the most meaningful sendoff to our class possible. Most of the early difficulty was making a plan that I liked and that worked, one that encapsulated all I wanted to do with the project as well as make a final product that I could be proud of. This included format, presentation type, quantity of stories, and outlines. The next difficulty was then asking around to those in my senior class that were close to me and getting prompts from them. This took some time management to do, and an issue with it was that the people who would submit prompts varied as well as when I would be able to see them and ask. This project has taught me a lot about my writing style, common mistakes I make, how to properly plan out stories, as well as given me experience on how to make well established pieces based off of specific themes or parts of life. It has helped me to improve and further integrated my application of literature to real life situations. I enjoyed my time working on this capstone, and I'm proud for what I've accomplished.

When i was four years old my mom bought me my first gaming console. A man down the street from my house was selling a Playstation 2. That's where my love of games began. Now my only goal is to spread to the joy of video games to others. That's why I have decided to make my capstone the creation of my first game named "The Restraint of Carlos".

Based on the popular games "The Binding Of Issac" and the original Legend of Zelda games, it is a top down survival game where the objective is to defeat as many enemies as possible before all of your health is depleted. The images you see are some I took during the creation of the game. During my presentation People will be able to the firsts to play the game.

Nahja Lewis Senior Capstone Project

The idea that I had for my Senior Capstone was turning an idea that I had into something bigger and better. The.Pillowtalk was an idea that I had for a pillow company with my target market being college students or people that just wish to add an accessory to their home decor. However, as I worked throughout the year, I had the idea of making a care package for those in need. I experienced some difficulties along the process, for example, finding what materials work best for
pillows, how to incorporate lining, the best way to create a care package, and making sure the pillows look presentable. I had the opportunity to create pillows and care packages for 22 women.

I am most proud of the process of making the packages. Cutting fabric, making sure it was accurate, stuffing them with poly fiber filling, and hand sewing them closed was a long process. However, I received a lot more practice with one thing that I consider a hobby. I am also proud to have done something positive for others. In the future, I hope to improve on my skill while also doing a great deed.

Jack Kleiner Capstone Project

Posted by Devra Kleiner in Senior Capstone · Elish · ILP/TFI/CAP on Monday, May 14, 2018 at 10:26 am

It took me a very long time to decide on a Capstone idea and actually stick with it. I realized I had been reading a lot in 2018 and finally stuck with reviewing some of the books I’ve read. Out of the 15 I read, I decided to review 10 of them as I thought that these were sufficient to review. Each book took me anywhere from a few days to a couple weeks to complete.

To meet the presentation requirement of the project I decided to post all of the reviews on a blog linked in this post. Each post includes the book read, the author(s), the number of pages, time spent reading it, a rating out of five stars, and a couple paragraphs with my thoughts on the book (the review). Each book review is generally written using the following outline:
  • Who is the author? What is the book about?
  • What was it like reading the book?
  • What are your overall thoughts about the book?
  • Would you recommend this? To whom?

The part of this capstone that I am proudest of is having read so much in general. Reading is one of my favorite few hobbies and I’m so glad I could read so much and put a dent in my incredibly long reading list.
