While doing the info graphic, there were a lot of things that popped out to me. we decided to study Hunting Park and found out some interesting facts. The main thing that stood out to me was the prevention of lead poisoning. You can prevent lead poisoning by replacing any plumbing that contains lead. I feel as though as a city we have to do better for our safety.

EPA Sustainability

Posted by Chelby Elam in Environmental Science · Aziz · E on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at 11:45 pm

The industry that my group and I decided to research was the Fashion Industry. After researching, we decided that the Fashion industry is not sustainable because its one of the leading industries in the world causing pollution and climate change. All of the earth systems affect eachother because they are connected so if something bad happens to one it'll happen to the other. To create a sustainable future we can decrease how we live and do things to lower our ecological footprint.

Automotive Industry

The earth systems affect each other because they are all connected. A lot of materials flow through all the spheres. For example water goes in all the spheres but it takes on different forms. Along with carbon and many other things.

If you know how a natural disaster works and what systems it affects you will be better equipped in what to do when said event happens.

We can all try to decrease our ecological footprint because we use a lot of earths resources everyday. This way we can slow down.

Brevity Lathers (Short Wash)

Posted by Ayanna Russell in Environmental Science · Aziz · E on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at 10:50 pm

The carbon footprint for a load of laundry is 3.3 kg was at 60 C in a washer-dryer combined machine. If multiplied by the number of people in America that use washer and dryer machines, we’d have a dissatisfying number of carbon tons produced daily and released into the air. As a solution my group and I came up with a plan to reduce the use of water used while washing clothes by using solar powered machines. I learned that washer-dyer machines contribute to greenhouse gases which lead us in the direction of global warming. Less water usage will save at least 40 gallons of water per wash. Solar powered machines will also have a longer life expectancy because solar panels usually degrade about 1% each year.

Brevity Lathers

The industry that me and my group did was the fashion industry. We chose to do it because we all love clothes, and dressing up and looking nice. Sustainability is everything we need for and well-being and also create and maintain the conditions under which humans and nature can exist together. Our industry is sustainable because when it comes to fashion people can maintain what material feels right for them such as some people do only like clothes made out of cotton and some only like their clothes made out of wool. To sustain our business we will assign each other roles to keep everything intact. To lower the eco-footprint of the business we will wash and dry our clothes less .

Sustainable Business

Posted by Nathan McGill in Environmental Science · Aziz · E on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at 10:39 pm

The different earth's systems have different impacts on the world. When it comes to how they all affect each other they all create the next step to the next earth system. By all of the systems affecting each other, the earth can flow smoothly and the cycle can continue from there. There are certain things that humans do that can interrupt the cycle as well. So as a population we would have to do better with, water usage, poverty, and other issues in order to have a sustainable future.

Changing The Rideshare Industry

Posted by Samuel Igiozee in Environmental Science · Aziz · E on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at 7:51 pm

The earth systems affect each other with CO^2 emissions in the atmosphere will not only plague the air but will affect biosphere as well. When oil fracking from geosphere leak into the water (hydrosphere) which will affect the aquatic life and the polluted water from the hydrosphere will affect land animals and humans in the biosphere. The efforts we can make to create a sustainable future can be using fuel-efficient cars in order to reduce CO^2 emissions and creating cars that don't rely on fuel.

Sustainable Business and Resource Management

Posted by Miki Huang in Environmental Science · Aziz · E on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at 9:38 am

Link to our Website: https://sites.google.com/slabeeber.org/cafe-asam All of the earth systems - lithosphere, biosphere, atmosphere, hydrosphere are interconnected and dependent on one other. This meaning that if something happens to one of the spheres it would affect all the other spheres. For example, if our hydrosphere and atmosphere was contaminated with toxins released from mining in the lithosphere it could harm those in the biosphere. I think that there are several things we can do and need to do so that we can create a more sustainable future. One of the things that I believe that we need is to stop deforestation and start re growing trees and other plants. Another thing we need to do is be mindful to where our food is coming from and to lessen our in take of meat. This is because the feed conversion ratio for these live stocks are not efficient and these livestock are one of the highest contributes to global warming.

Tornadoes in the Hydrosphere

(i posted on the wrong class blog page)

The hydrosphere is the flow of water, and all the water on the earth’s surface. The hydrosphere covers about 70% of the earth. After researching tornadoes and it's different affects in earth's systems, i found out that tornadoes in the hydrosphere were waterspouts. waterspouts are referred as tornadoes of the sea, because that is essentially what they are. While they hardly have affect on America, I was able to find that they affect Italy, where there are around 71 waterspouts per year. They aren't as serious as a tornado on the geosphere, but they do start chain reactions for whirlwinds, heavy rain, flooding, and hail.

I found waterspouts interesting because they have never directly done a lot of damage, since they take place in the ocean, but there is a beauty to it. Waterspouts can hit peninsulas (like italy), but it is a rare occasion that they do tremendous damage.

there isn't much we can really do to stop a waterspout, as much as we can stop a tornado, it's best to just not be by the shore. They're like a hurricane- tornado hybrid.

For this my group decided to create a tornado with cotton balls, tin foil, and a few miscellaneous objects. After a few glue burns to the fingers, we created a tornado on the geosphere with safety tips, as well as slides with each of our parts describing how tornadoes affect all of earth.
