Global Water Crisis

Posted by Emma Wright in Environmental Science · Sasso-Chryst · A on Monday, April 4, 2022 at 8:34 am

I think that yes, global water crisis is an environmental justice issue. It affects the amount of water available for consumption and use, and that affects everyone. Therefore, everyone should be equally involved in the decision making surrounding it, and be given equal access and right to it.

Global Water Crisis

Is global water crisis an environmental justice issue? Why or why not?
I would say yes, it is an environmental justice issue. Seeing how much we, as humans and other living organisms depend on water to survive and function, when these global water crises happen, they can greatly affect water, which also greatly affects us because of how we borderline use water for almost everything and need it to function.

Nathaniel Echevarria Natural Disasters

Posted by Nathaniel Echevarria in Environmental Science · Sasso-Chryst · A on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at 9:34 am

The atmosphere brings back rainwater to the hydrosphere. The atmosphere provides the geosphere with heat and energy needed for rock breakdown and erosion. The geosphere, in turn, reflects the sun's energy back into the atmosphere. The biosphere receives gases, heat, and sunlight (energy) from the atmosphere. Understanding environmental science can aid in handling natural disasters because you can learn the good and bad about them. Allows you to be prepared for any situation in a natural disaster. Single-use products, particularly plastic ones, tend to end up in landfills and the ocean, causing harm to wildlife and the environment. Prevent this by choosing to use reusable and eco-friendly alternatives instead. (Wont let me add the video)

Charles Hart Natural Disasters

1. Earth systems are just a way to organize our world. By nature of that fact, energy and matter are transferred between them. Energy can enter into one system and then through the functions of that environment, it can enter into another system. For instance, plants receive energy from the sun(exosphere), these plants are then eaten by larger creatures who die and decompose to become part of the soil. Processes similar to this one are repeated all throughout the Earth. 2. By understanding the potential downstream effects of a natural disaster, we can find ways to alleviate some of the damage that it does, even if we can't stop the natural disaster itself. This is especially important given how global warming exacerbates natural disasters. 3. I think the first step would be to live sustainably. Better technological advancements can help us make a better future. I don't know much about these technologies, but I assume that this is the only reasonable way forward

1. How do the earth systems affect each other? Earth systems interact by filling each others' needs with solutions. For example, a lot of things in the biosphere need to drink water to survive. That's where the hydrosphere provides them with water. 2. How can an understanding of environmental science aid in handling natural disasters? An understanding of environmental science aids in handling natural disasters by giving us more background when dealing with climate issues that come upon us. 3. What efforts can we make to create a sustainable future? Some efforts we can make to create a sustainable future are educating ourselves on climate change, lowing our carbon output, and cleaning up after ourselves.

Ukaegbu Natural Disasters and Earth Systems

1. Earth systems affect each other due to the fact that they make up the main components of the Earth, this influences them to be susceptible to interacting within the environment. Multiple spheres interact simultaneously in various natural disasters. 2. The ability to comprehend environmental science allows one to possess context of why natural disasters maybe occurring as a whole, as well as conducting a solution that can be applied. 3. As the human race, we can collectively make an effort to understand how Environmental Science affects the world that we live in.

1. Earth's systems all interact with one another. By understanding them we can use thek in energy and food production. 2. These disasters are based on the earth's systems. By using environmental science we learn how to harness and protect ourselves against them. 3. We could use cleaner, more efficient energy. We could also find ways to preserve air quality

Essential Questions 1. The earth systems affect each other by causing chain reactions between each other. For example, when water is evaporated, clouds are formed in the atmosphere. When the clouds are too full of water, it precipitates water back to the biosphere and geosphere, creating a cycle. 2. It can aid by showing how it affects the environment and people. It can also aid by showing how we can reduce the damage of natural disasters 3. We could try to reduce waste and start recycling more

1.) Because it is the earth systems that make up the earth itself, they often interact. Whenever water evaporates or when moles dig in the ground or when large storms tear down trees, multiple different spheres interact. 2.) By understanding environmental science you get more context for what causes natural disasters and how they affect almost everything around them. 3.) By making sure the factors that cause natural disasters are limited and their effects are properly prepared for then the environment can be protected better. I always learned about what causes and effects are related to natural disasters but never considered what we as a society can do to prepare for them.

Droughts- Rose, Gigi, Emma, Dylan

1. The earth systems affect each other in numerous ways, be it destructive or constructive in a way, like with drought, changes in the atmosphere can severely affect the geo and biospheres. 2. An understanding of environmental science can help us in handling natural disasters as we can know the effects and what we can do to help those affected by it. 3. Being that a lot of climate change is happening due to humans polluting the planet for one reason or another, efforts for mass clean energy would be a start and helping places humans have already mostly destroyed to recover would be incredibly good for everyone. (Hopefully soon, things like mining can be done via asteroids, but that's a long time off.)
