What value do we see in the biodiversity and natural resources of the earth? Healthy ecosystems help to maintain the Earth’s natural processes

What human actions are associated with altering earth’s natural systems? Burning fossil fuels, cutting down forests and farming livestock

How can individuals, communities and or nations live more sustainably? The more time you spend outside each day, the more likely you are to behave in environmentally-friendly ways, such as recycling, riding a bike, buying eco-friendly products, and so much more, This project help deepen my understanding of sustainablity is that now i think our society’s ability to exist and develop without depleting all of the natural resources needed to live in the future. Something that surprised me was the cost of solar panels i forgot much they went for. The things i help with on my project was the check points and creating an 3d print which was my first time so it was fun and cool.

Ecowheels by Luvly Johnson

Unit Essential Questions:

  1. The biodiversity and natural resources of Earth provide essential ecosystem services, such as pollination, water purification, and climate regulation, which support human well-being and economic activities.

  2. Human actions such as deforestation, pollution, overexploitation of resources, land use change, climate change emissions, introduction of invasive species, and alterations in water management significantly disrupt Earth’s natural systems, leading to biodiversity loss, habitat degradation, and threats to ecosystem health and human well-being.

  3. Engaging with topics like biodiversity and natural resource conservation deepens understanding of sustainability by highlighting the interconnectedness of ecological, social, and economic systems. It underscores the importance of responsible stewardship of natural resources to meet current needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

Reflection Questions:

  1. This project deepened my understanding of the buses being sustainable. Before this project, I did not think that was the case.

  2. Again I would say the buses.

  3. I participated in everything except for putting the slides. I was sick and couldn’t do it, but tasks 1,2,3 and 4 were all done with my help. I am proud of how it turned out with the physical copy of the project.

Unit Essential Questions:

What value do we see in the biodiversity and natural resources of the earth? Biodiversity and natural resources are super important because they bring so much value to our planet. They help keep our environment balanced, give us things we need to survive, support different economic activities, and have a big impact on our culture.

What human actions are associated with altering Earth’s natural systems?

Humans can change the Earth’s natural systems through things like deforestation, pollution, and overfishing. These actions can mess up the balance of ecosystems and have negative effects on biodiversity and natural resources.

How can individuals, communities, and or nations live more sustainably?

People can do things like conserve energy and water, recycle, and use public transportation. Communities can promote green initiatives, like community gardens or recycling programs.

Reflection Questions:

How did this project deepen your understanding of sustainability? This project made me realize in some ways sustainability can be an easy process to follow but at the same time, it’s a lot of work in certain areas. Some of these ways make it easy for humans how to get things done easier or faster. For example, a car is not as sustainable but it gets us places and another way to consider a sustainable way is a bus which can be difficult for some people.

What information about your chosen industry surprised you most? Why? My group and I had the restaurant industry and I found the food industry is responsible for a huge amount of the greenhouse gas emissions. This was surprising because we often don’t think the environment is affected by the food we consume.

How did you contribute to your group’s project? Provide specific examples. What were you proud of, in terms of your overall project?

I helped with the website we created, I was responsible for making 2 pages and having info on it for the website. I also helped with all the checkpoint assignments and the feedback, I also helped with making the model. I was proud of the model we created I think it was nice and something I was proud of overall.

What human actions are associated with altering earth’s natural systems?- Actions such as Burning fossil fuels, cutting down forests and farming livestock are ways that humans can alter the earths systems.

How can individuals, communities and or nations live more sustainably?- They can live more sustainable by reducing the amount of waste you produce by choosing products with less packaging, reusing items as much as possible, and recycling anything that you can’t reuse.

Reflection questions:

How did this project deepen your understanding of sustainability?- When creating our ideas for our company and prototype, I got a better understanding of how the world can actually help sustainability and improve products for their consumers.

What information about your chosen industry surprised you most? Why?- I was suprised to learn about how much fuel and material is wasted on vehicles and the carelessness that contributes to the production of cars.

How did you contribute to your groups project? Provide specific examples. What were you proud of, in terms of your overall project?- Within our checkpoints, my group split the amount of questions up evenly, so I completed my questions. On top of that, I had full ownership of the physical model. I constructed it, colored it and completed it. I was super proud of drawings because I am not a good artist.
