Physics Benchmark: Pink Diamond

Artist Statement:

This sculpture is a reference to the show Steven Universe. I made a pink diamond because in the show you learn from a character named Pink Diamond that not everyone is as they seem. This applies to my real life experiences because of so many predicaments I come across where people pretend to be one way but end up being another. This project symbolizes me learning from my past mistakes.

My artist statment
  • I chose to make this sculpture because, one It was really convenient with what I decided to use for the sculpture. As well as the fact that I think that it would look really cool once it is done. Also, I think that is says that I am going through the hardships that go along with having a broken arm as well as. My drive to make sure that it does not hinder me to much and that I will definitely make it through having a broken arm ok and stronger than I was before.

Quarter 4: Electric Art Project

The reason why I chose to do this sculpture is because I live on this planet. Even if it is full of annoying people, it is still where I live. It is still a place I live on and that I call home. Earth is a place where it provide everything I need. Oxygen, food, water, the Earth provides that. I had put the lights around the Earth because people don’t sometimes think of the Earth that much. Meaning that they should

Fast Plant

Our F2 plants looked nothing like I nor my group mates predicted. The parent generation grew faster due to the fact that the F2 generation didn’t grow. We knew that there would be some possibilities as to why they didn't grow being not enough water, too much water, not enough sun light, too much sunlight, etc.

Genes have a greater indicator on how an organism will appear. Organisms look the way they do due to their parents genes. Organisms will receive half of their genes from their mother and the other half from their father.  I wasn't very educate on plants but that they taken in Carbon Dioxide, and they go through photosynthesis, so basically knowing very little. I learned about how many factors affect plants in their growth, but like instead of just knowing that they are the factors, I learned why they are the factors.

Leo, Lea, & Other Fast Plans

When we first got this project I was excited to grow plants and take care of them. Then once I figured out we would also be doing two generations of plants, mixing between the types that got me even more pumped for this. Our first generation of plants did good. I think they took longer to grow then our second generation of plants. Our first generation of plants was ST & NP. I predicted that the next generation would be a mix of purple stem with green leaves or vice versa and that’s how they were. I would say that our plants being moved really hindered our plants’ ability to thrive. People kept moving our plants and this, at one point, lead to them dying and made us have to start over. Genetics will provide and organism with the genes they have which will then provide an organism with their phenotype. However, an organism's environment will determine whether it lives or does not. If there was no light for our plants, they would die. This is evident on when our plants were moved by others. Since other people moved our plants from under the light/from the water our plants died. This shows that the environment does matter for the growth of an organism. I think the thing that stood out to me the most during this project was the genetics portion. I think actually playing with the DNA and genetics of the plants was fun and interesting. We got to see how genetics work. That was the most interesting part of this project.

Fast plants final reflection

The F2 generation did not look how I predicted to look. I thought that they would grow much quicker and look so much better but in the end they grew very slow and not all of them even grew. The parent generation grew faster and more healthy. What hindered our plants  to thrive was the fact that we didn't take as much care of them. We didn't water them as often as you wanted the parent generation so maybe that affected how they grew. Genetics is the greater indicator Because it has the genes of the parents which will be incorporated in the newer plant. During this course, learning about how plants make more plants really interests me.

fast plants

Throughout the journey of growing our plants it always felt as though the plants were growing very fast over the time but in my opinion it felt like parent seeds grew faster within time and that’s probably because I paid more attention to them than the others but still. I think we could’ve taken better care of them and they would’ve been healthier than before. With this course the thing that stood out to me the most was the way the plants grew under that little light in the back. How fast the progressed over time was really amazing
