Tyheim Price Capstone

Posted by Tyheim Price in Senior Capstone · Reed · ILP/TFI/CAP on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at 7:41 pm
For my capstone Kevin and I labelled the lights, gave directions on how to use them, and worked the school lights for Science Leadership Academy @ Beeber's first play, High School Musical! Kevin and I choose to do this because we knew that Ms Hare was going to need help putting the play together and since we were exposed to the play often during the week in theatre class, we decided that setting up and figuring out how to use the lights should be our capstone. We found out which switches do what and how to turn on certain lights while turning other lights off, the capability of extension cords, problem solving skills, and team building skills while working the lights during the play. It was a great experience and I'm glad I was apart of the first play at SLA@B!

♥ Strokes Ain't No Joke

Posted by Tyheim Price in Biology of the Human Body · Aziz · C on Sunday, April 14, 2019 at 10:33 pm
In the video my group mates and I talk about heart disease and strokes, which are the leading causes of death world wide. I also interviewed a physicians assistant at the Heart Care Consultants in Philadelphia. We found out what a stroke is, what some of the main factors of a stroke is, and how to prevent getting heart disease. I choose this topic because heart diseases are common and I think the way my life is going I'm going to get a heart disease or two. Hopefully this project will prevent me from getting any... or just to get one.
I personally think that I did almost everything for this project. I did checkpoint one by myself, I helped with checkpoint two, I did the interview by myself, I helped to record and edit as well. Jada and Caylin did help as well so credit to them.
I think the interview went really well, I just wish that the project video went better.
I think the most meaningful part of the experience of creating the PSA was the interview, however I think that the video we made for the project did not do the interview justice and I do regret that. However, we did learn a lot doing this project and I don't regret that.

Schizophrenia and The Brain

Posted by Tyheim Price in Biology of the Human Body · Aziz · C on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at 5:21 pm
My group did a project on schizophrenia and how it affects the brain. I did not know much about schizophrenia besides the fact that it's an illness. However, after this project I learned more about it like what happens in the brain of someone with schizophrenia and the medication that people with schizophrenia take - also that the medicine comes with some drawbacks. I learned a lot about which neurotransmitters are affected by schizophrenia and which parts of the brain is lost with someone with schizophrenia. I learned about how people with schizophrenia cope and what they have to deal with. I learned how/why people with schizophrenia are sensitive to touch and "over-exaggerate" pain - or feel nothing. It was a good project, even though it was hard to understand at times.

Football (Soccer) Time!

Posted by Tyheim Price in Biology of the Human Body · Aziz · C on Friday, February 15, 2019 at 9:59 am
My group decided to do a project on the effect of playing soccer. We wanted to see what injuries were common, how they could be prevented, and how a person needs to train to become a good soccer player.

Leo, Lea, & Other Fast Plans

Posted by Tyheim Price in Biochemistry 2 Honors on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at 11:31 pm

When we first got this project I was excited to grow plants and take care of them. Then once I figured out we would also be doing two generations of plants, mixing between the types that got me even more pumped for this. Our first generation of plants did good. I think they took longer to grow then our second generation of plants. Our first generation of plants was ST & NP. I predicted that the next generation would be a mix of purple stem with green leaves or vice versa and that’s how they were. I would say that our plants being moved really hindered our plants’ ability to thrive. People kept moving our plants and this, at one point, lead to them dying and made us have to start over. Genetics will provide and organism with the genes they have which will then provide an organism with their phenotype. However, an organism's environment will determine whether it lives or does not. If there was no light for our plants, they would die. This is evident on when our plants were moved by others. Since other people moved our plants from under the light/from the water our plants died. This shows that the environment does matter for the growth of an organism. I think the thing that stood out to me the most during this project was the genetics portion. I think actually playing with the DNA and genetics of the plants was fun and interesting. We got to see how genetics work. That was the most interesting part of this project.

SPREAD THE WORD!

Posted by Tyheim Price on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 10:31 pm
Bop
Bop

For our project we decided to focus on overpopulation and the causes it has on the world. Something that surprised me was how overpopulation is a big topic full of many little topics. There's over consumption, pollution, global warming, and many more. Because there are so many of us that means there more mouths to feed and water that is needed, which leads to the over consumption. Many people are not growing up to be farmers though, so the amount of resources we have are not equal to or greater than the number of people that need it. More people means more energy that needs to be used for things like heat and electricity which means more pollution. This pollution leads to the rapid increase of global warming. I wonder what will we do to fight against overpopulation. I think more education on parenthood and more programs to educate young people on sex is needed. We barely had a health class in this school and I doubt any other public schools in our area have a good health class. I think we need to put more time, energy, and money, into educating people about sex and sex control.

The Nervous System: Worm, Frog, Cat, and Human

Posted by Tyheim Price in Biochemistry 2 Honors on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at 7:40 pm
The nervous system of a worm is different from the nervous system of the other three animals. The worm does not have 4 lobes like the other animals do, for the worm is just a simple animal. The earliest ancestor of a worm, that had a nervous system, is the Urbilateria. The worm has descended from an organism called Urbilateria. Urbilateria has since died so scientist studied a “living fossil” which is the Platynereis dumerilii. This organism lives in the same environment and has the same features as the Urbilateria. Scientist studied the regions of embryos that gave rise to the central nervous system. They found that vertebrates must have inherited the organisation of the nervous system from the Urbilateria. This means that the worm, and most other vertebrates, have the same nervous system setup. For the other three animals, the nervous systems has not changed much. The spine, the brain, and the nerves still make up the nervous system. The brain and the spinal cord are connected to each other and relay information to one another.
From this project, I have learned more about the nervous system and the brain. I did not know about the different parts of the brain and what they did. I am happy I did this project and learned more about the anatomy of the human. I still wonder more about the brain of a cat and a frog and how they work.

This is my Vision Board. It's not 15 post, I'm just going to say that now, but I believe in quality over quantity. I liked the thought of this project but the execution could've been done better.

Media & Design Ignite Presentation

Posted by Tyheim Price in Intro to Design and Multimedia on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at 1:05 pm
For my Media and Design final project I had to put all of the projects I did in my class and put them in a slideshow to present to the class, but the slides will only be there for a few seconds at a time until the auto change. As part of this project, I had to write a reflection for each project. My reflection is as followed:

For the first project in Media and Design class, I had to create a website that has a portfolio about me along with other things about me. The goal of the project was that the website would be a portfolio so when we could send this to colleges we are applying to and they can learn a little about us. My own personal goal, however, was to have a place where I could have some memories and remember. I believe that the project was very successful. I still update the website even though I’m not getting a grade for it anymore. The website gave me a place to look back at and be proud of. I have my own website that I made myself! It’s wonderful. I love how I set it up and the pictures I used.
For the second project in Media and Design class, I had to make a video that would express myself. The goal of the project was that when someone watched the video they would learn something and take away a message from it. I believe the project was not very successful, it could definitely have gone better. During this project, I kind of rushed it. I also did not take a lot of time, at the beginning of the project, to make sure YouTube Editor was the best software to use.
For my third project in Media and Design class, I had to photoshop two images together to make a new picture. The goal of the project was to learn how to edit pictures and to use pictures to convey a message, a picture is worth a thousand words after all. I believe this project was successful but could have definitely been better. I was able to edit the two pictures together, but making it look real was very hard. When I cut pictures out there was still some edges which made it look boxy.
The project I have decided to revise was my website project. On my website, I did
not have much on there about me and I felt like that was wrong. So I choose this
project to edit for two reasons. The first reason is that I want people who come on
my website to know who I am. The second reason is that when I come back to this
website in the future I will remember some things I may forget later on. I added two
paragraphs to me About Me page. I wrote about how I’m a procrastinator and about
my favourite place.
A high point of this class was making my very own website. The website, TBExtraorinary, is the best thing I did in this class and I am very proud of it. I think it looks amazing and it’s so cool to have something up that everyone can see. An area of growth for me during this project was making this slide. Being able to put everything together, have it organised, and see everything I did in one place is a really cool thing to me.  I used the skills I have learned in this class outside of class during my Spanish Project. For my Spanish project, I was in charge of making a website and I was able to make a pretty nice looking website using the skills I learned in this class. An idea I have for next year’s class is more presentations maybe? I myself like to talk and presenting lets me do that. But also, presentations allows people to share the work they did with everyone else in the class. Not everyone has to present, just people that would like to.
Three tips I have for anyone taking this class:
This class is an easy A if you just do the work. Since it’s in checkpoints it’s really easy to keep track of everything, even if you miss a class. This class is very easy, just do the work.
If by chance you miss a class and you find it a little hard to catch up, just submit whatever you have. A 5/10 is better than a plain 0/10. Ms Hertz is very understanding so if you just talk to her or send her an Email I’m sure you could figure something out.
Finally, just have fun. This class is a very fun, relaxed, and chill class. If you just stay on top of everything you can have ten minutes maybe just doing whatever you want, whether its other classwork or watching videos.

To Be Extraordinary - My Website Project

Posted by Tyheim Price in Intro to Design and Multimedia on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at 9:31 am
Hello, for my Digital Media and Design class I had to make a website explaining who I am and the things I have done. When I first found out I had to do this project I thought it was going to be boring and I did not want to do it. But while I was doing this project and putting some information about me on it, I started to enjoy this project. Now looking back at my completed website I feel good about it. It's cool to look at a website I made about myself that everyone can look at. I think it's kinda neat!
On this website I have five different pages. The first page is the homepage, this page welcomes the viewer to my website. The next page I have is the About Me page. This page gives the viewer a little information about me so they know who's website they are on and what I'm about. The third page is the Things I Have Done page. On this page I tell the viewer what extra activities I am participating in, and I tell them about extra activities I participated in in the past. The fourth page is my Projects page. On this page I tell the viewer about a few projects I have done. And finally, my last page is the Contact Me page. On this page I give my E-Mail so the viewer can contact me if they have any questions or just want to talk to me.
I think the message of this project dictated the medium.  I think this because I would have still written down the same things, and done it the same way, without the website. My message would have always been the same. The message, or purpose, of this website is to give the viewer a little information about me and who I am.

"There's no one I'd rather be..."

Posted by Tyheim Price in ART 9 - Hertz - a2 on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at 2:59 pm

This is about how I would never change myself so I can be ‘popular’ or ‘cool.’ I’ve seen people change themselves so they can fit into another group of people and I don’t see how they change so quickly. I would never want to do that. I would rather find someone who likes me for the way I am now. I shouldn’t have to change myself so I can be friends with people.

The Labyrinth

Posted by Tyheim Price in ART 9 - Hertz - a2 on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at 9:55 am
The meaning of this art work is to get people thinking. I want them to interpret this picture in whatever way they'd like.

A few books that I read made me think of doing this.

I choose the location I put it in because I want it to be in a place that people only see in the corner of their eye, something that's there but isn't really noticeable. When they do see it I want them to be interested. That's why I put this art work where I put it.

This project didn't change my perception on Art much, if at all.

This project makes me want to notice more art work around the city. I know that Philadelphia has a lot of street art on walls and I see a lot of them, but I want to see them better if that makes sense. I notice them, but I never really see them.

Social Media Survival Guide

Posted by Tyheim Price in TECH 1 - Hertz - a1 on Friday, November 20, 2015 at 10:32 am

I think I am still me when I am online, I'm seen as a boy who likes The Hunger Games, Divergent, The Maze Runner, Spongebob, Doctor Who, and many others. A Fanboy.

I don’t know how people perceive me, if I was to guess I would say maybe a geek? I don’t know.

Before posting online I think about who’s going to see it currently. For example, my friends and family. I don’t think about who might see it in the future.

The pros for sharing online is it’s easy for people around the world to get information faster and you can have fun with friends and family members. The cons for sharing online is everyone can see what you are doing, little gets deleted and your things can get hacked.

Lack of Control, Permanence, and Immediacy have an impact on our online lives in many ways. One of the ways is that anything you post will stay on the internet forever. So anyone can see what you did and they can judge you by the things you have posted. People can look at things you posted and your profile and think they know you. They will think about you based on your internet reputation even though that’s only half of who you really are most of the time.
