skull lock box

There are multiple reasons why my sculpture is unique in why I chose it and its significance to me personally. The sculpture I chose to use is a "edgy" black skull pencil case.I chose this item because it is a non-transparent box so it will be able to conceal the circuits and hard wiring on the inside, and when the teacher is ready to examine my work he can just open it and grade. This piece was also chosen to show i like to think out the box (even though it is a box) due to the fact that it has a skull on it it expresses the edgy side of me people do not usually get to see of me.

the item i chose was a PS3 controller because i play a lot of video games and this controller was just lying around my house. i felt like this was the perfect opportunity to make use of it.

The sculpture we decided to light up was a phone case. We live in a world that is operated using technology, and we thought this was the perfect way to represent our love for it. We both like technology and we like finding new ways to accessorize our phones especially since we're using them every single day. So we took a phone case that we thought was very edgy and unique, and we put a circuit inside of it.

These bulbs are on a HEAD tennis racket. I play tennis competitively and I also practice to get better. Tennis is one of the sports that I love to play and still continue to play ... to this day. I put the lights on it because when I am focused and or working and playing hard my coaches call me a god . And god does light right ? Finally tennis is something that I will never get tired of and can see my self playing it as a career.

Warmth in the snow

We chose to make this sculpture because it represents our warmth in the time of when your cold. When it’s cold out people wear gloves to keep warm right? This sculpture represents our hidden warmth through the glove and the shining light bulbs. This sculpture describes us because it’s about how hidden strength and warmth when it’s a cold time for us. We stayed warm and protected ourselves throughout the cold times.

For my physics project , I have created a series of lights on a top of my favorite perfume which is , Lola by Marc Jacobs. I always believed a woman'd perfume tells more about who she is. I took classes on learning to create and be in my own business to be an entrepreneur. Not only because the investment , I always like the different fragrances and different ways you can make your own.A scent reflects who you see yourself as and how you want to present yourself.

We choose to do Lights In The Skies because we love to look at the sky and look at the beauty of the world. Also we choose to do Abstract art because when looking at the art peice we question what is cold be . What this says about us is that we are adventurous and we like to go above and beyond.

Nick and Kevins bat

Kevin and I decided to use a baseball bat for the foundation of our project because we both really show a strong passion for baseball. This is our main sport that we play and we are very good players. We chose to use a bat because it has to do with baseball and we like to hit. We decided to make the bat light to make it look colorful. This is a sport that we both play all year around.

Jordan & Zoie Light Up Racquet: Physics Circuits Project

The item that we chose to light up is a squash racquet. I (Zoie) chose to light up the squash racquet because I will soon be trying out for squash. I think that lighting up the squash racquet was a great way for me to get excited about playing squash.  This project also helped introduce to me what a squash racquet is and how it works.
I (Jordan) chose to light up a racquet because I already play squash and squash is a big part of my life. I have been playing squash for two year now and I attend squash three days a week. So That takes up majority of my time. When I first heard about the project the first thing I thought of was something that connected me to squash so that's what I chose.

Glowing Boxing Glove-Semaije and Idamis

Idamis and I decided to work together because we are like best friends and we both love boxing. So we put both of our ideas together and came up with something great. Also because this project what make something light up that is important to you we chose a boxing glove. This is something that both Idamis and I love to do in our free time. So this project is something that is important to us and that we felt like if we did something that was personal to us that it would come out great. Boxing for us is not just a sport it is a way of life in our eyes.

Eliza and Eva's Physics project

Eliza’s artist statement

My partner and I decided to make our sculpture a happy meal because I think right now it represents American culture. I think that Fast food is so normal and typical for our culture that it has become the new norm. We also designed it to show how much fast food has had an effect on the typical American diet. Essentially what I’m saying is that a Mcdonalds happy meal is just as or even a little more American than our flag because it not only represents our our economic, social, and domestic institution but has managed to change the way America thinks and eats food. We thought that we should shed some light(pun intended) on the ordinary yet extraordinary effects of medium fries and a large cheese burger has had on not only American culture but the entire world. This project says about how we are creative and how we put thought into our work instead of just thinking of the first thing that comes to our mind and that we are willing to go the extra mile to prove that we care about the work that we produce and that others see.

Eva’s artist statement

I personally have choose to do a hamburger and French Fries because I thought it was a unique idea and unusual. I wanted to do something that wasn't a clique or something that would have been expected of me to do. What this project says about me is that I am always trying to do something unusual and unique that will make people look twice. It shows me and partners ( Eliza ) creativity and mind set that allows us to create something that pushes us out of our comfort zone. Doing a project like this pushes me out of my boundaries and makes me really engage in the physics world and really get an understanding of what i'm doing and connect it to real life. It is very enriching to know that you are able to apply what you are learning into a creative and genuine idea that turns out to be a success.

This sculpture (not really a sculpture) is unique in my opinion because there aren't that many Japanese stuff, seen here in fun japanesey philly. Just kidding. So, since this is base of something Japanese some may say it's relaxing to beast your eyes on, or cool. Oh wait, I just remembered to tell you guys what the Japanese thing that my lamp is base off. It's really base off those japanese wooden blinds that stands on the floor. Here's a image for you wondererrrsss.

Tsion's Christmas house: Physics circuit project

picture006
picture006
I designed a Christmas house that lights up because my favorite holiday is Christmas. Christmas plays a big part in my culture and tradition. It reminds me of home and everyone coming together and laughing, eating, playing, and dancing and everyone having a good time. I chose to make this project because it's unique and different and no one has done it in our class which makes it one of a kind.

I chose to create this sculpture because it seemed to be unique. Unique because it hasn’t been done before in the way I designed it and also because for me it shows my passion for education. This sculpture shows my passion for education because everything that I have learned or studied has been put into a school bag and has been cared around with me. And know I am choosing to create a sculpture out of it.

Light Me Up Taylors by Jada Martin and Moesha Grant

photo 2

We chose to make this  sculpture because it represents an item in our sense of style. Jada and I both like the Chuck Taylor Brand because it represents us growing up and comfort. Chuck Taylors often remind us of the summer activities we often did when we were young. Adding the lights to the shoe shows how we want to grow out of old things and make our mark on the world. Also, we chose this sculpture because adding lights is easier than any other object we thought of with the holes on the side of the shoe.

Starbucks at first side <3
Lyza Newbern and Konstantina Angelis

This object is important to us because we both like Starbucks and this bottle had Starbucks coffee in it. We both have a memory from the first time that we had Starbucks coffee. Dina: The first time I had Starbucks I was on my way to a One Direction concert and I wanted to make sure I would have energy to stay awake through the entire concert so my sister and I stopped at a Starbucks and got my first Starbucks. This relates to lyza's story because she has only had Starbucks once and it came in a bottle like this. We both agreed that this object is very important to both of us so we decided to illuminate it and make it even more special.

We chose a hat for our project because we both like hats. Also, we both enjoy watching hockey and like the Flyers. We thought that this was a good way to combine the things we love. The hat represents me because  I really like the flyers (David). The hat represents me because I used to wear hats all of the time and hockey is one of my favorite sports to watch (Mike).

physics benchmark- chirstmas tree

20140114_140911
20140114_140911

Artist statement:

We choose to make a mini Christmas tree because we thought that the Christmas tree would be much more reasonable. When we were going over the guidelines for this project we saw that all the lights had to last at least 24 hours or more. With the chandelier it required more battery power then if we were to make our Christmas tree. Our project says something about us because Grace and I both really enjoy December and having Christmas, New Years, and Alexis’ birthday (on 12/31) all in one month. We decided to make a Christmas tree to show our love for this month. We also thought that if we were to make a Christmas tree, we would be able to use it every year, even after this project was over.
