Q2 Benchmark Reflection

Posted by Dashaun Smith in Biochemistry 2 · Sasso-Chryst · C on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at 8:51 pm

In my group’s video, we include descriptions of the Cell Cycle along with an introduction. In the stop motion part of the video, we showed the different phases of both Mitosis and Meiosis. Overall, my group and I worked well together. I put together part 1 of Meiosis and had help with part 2. As a group, we put together the video completely. What I did well was contributing and collaborating with my group. I do feel that I could’ve done better with voicing my opinion and would’ve changed the way the video looks and use better editing software. However, the most meaningful part of making this project was making all the different phases and bringing the Cell Cycle to life. I enjoyed this part because it helped me learn more because I was able to visualize what happens clearer.

Najla- The reason why we picked a star because Is from my hometown Los Angeles because that’s my home where i am from. The next reason why we picked a brick wall because The brick wall represents that we both come from a place where you see nothing but bricks like brick houses. The bricks are plain and nothing out of the ordinary.

DaShaun- What we made was a star on a brick wall. The brick wall represents that we both come from a place where you see nothing but bricks like brick houses. The bricks are plain and nothing out of the ordinary. However, were represented by the star. The star shows us as a something shining. This represents us shining in our communities. We also choose to do a star is because I want to visit Los Angeles in the future to see the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

One Point Perspective

Posted by Dashaun Smith in Introduction to Art · Hertz · e2 on Friday, June 1, 2018 at 2:31 pm
The room I drew is a living room. It has a couch, table, flat screen t.v. that is above a fireplace with wood flooring. On the back wall, it has mostly nothing but a bunch of quotes that are suppose to motivate you. I put the quotes there so that wall won't look so plain and boring. What I have learned from one-point perspective drawing is that every thing is suppose to face the vanishing point in the middle of the horizon line. What I am the most proud of in this drawing is the couch because it was the hardest thing to draw. First thing was that all the lines had to go towards the vanishing point and I didn't want it to look flat so I curved the lines to make it look better. What I wish I had improved on is the table in the middle of the room because it doesn't look right with the placement of the couch. A tip when doing this project next year is to draw the furniture before putting the flooring down and to draw lightly first and then darken the lines that you need.

Multitasking and Cellphone Addiction

Posted by Dashaun Smith in Intro to Tech and Comp App · Hertz · e1 on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at 9:16 am
The purpose of this project is to see how many times we check our phones and multi-task and how it is becoming an addiction. In conclusion, many of us multi-task more than we realize and that we are on our phones while trying to learn, do work, watch t.v., etc and our phones have become an addiction. Multi-Tasking doesn't help and slows you down when you try and do something. Here are some tips to not look at your phone all the time: To limit your phone use you can create no phone time zones. Give it to a person you trust to hold it. Try not to look at your phone every time it dings. Try gradually looking at your phone less a day/ set a limit and make that limit smaller every other day. Find other things to occupy your time like playing a sport or doing a hobby.
