Mallika Saini Capstone

Posted by Mallika Saini in Senior Capstone · Leaness · ILP/TFI/CAP on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at 6:09 pm

Last year, there was a large national Sikh campaign going around the United States. The goal of the campaign was to raise awareness of Sikhs. Most often, they're misunderstood by the mass and under-taught, if at all, by public schools. Moreover, the Sikh turban (which is why most people are targeted) is not just a headgear, but our greatest pride. And, I would like my community to know the difference. I am not throwing my Muslim friends under the bus, but just bringing out a reality that is much needed.

As a Sikh myself, being inspired by the campaign developed a better understanding of the Sikh community in my community, to project the positive image and profile of the Sikh community.

I created a small, about twenty to twenty-five minute, presentation that brought awareness to my community about Sikhs. I presented to all my school and St. Christopher's Hospital for Children in Philadelphia. After, my presentations to leave the message behind, I recreated a painting that portrays the same message. I've added my own elements, but the base of the painting, I take no credit for. Besides a painting, I created a website set-up as a presentation style to those interested in Sikhs.

After months on this capstone, I'm so proud to finish. It didn't end like my initial hope, but I still completed all of my goals. I grew as a public speaker by speaking in front of a large audience and spread awareness on Sikhs.

Botany PSA on Urban Farming/Gardeninig

Posted by Mallika Saini in Botany · Aziz · y1 on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at 11:17 am
Our video includes an interview with two members of the Greensgrow Farm on Cumberland Ave. They share their views on management of the garden, new urban farms and the societal benefit of these farms. We really wanted to meet with with staff members of urban farms and gardens to know how they think about gardens and farms, what there experiences have been? Not only that, we mention the benefits of composting and the ways to manage soil pH levels. We want people to know that starting or being a part of an urban garden/farm isn't daunting.

As a group member, I contributed in helping create our PSA. Not only that, I worked with another group member to arrange our meeting with Greensgrow Farm. I thoroughly enjoyed our meeting at Greensgrow Farm. The beauty and ambiance of the area was so inviting and pleasant. I personally felt in peace walking through the plants and flowers, it felt so refreshing.

Our other research focused on economical and political impact. Urban farming reduces the cost of fruits, vegetables, and dairy. Small communities growing their own foods lessens our carbon footprint and saves money. Nonetheless, our Administration doesn't believe in going all green. Not only that, accessing land is a difficult at this time.

Caffeine and It's Effect

Posted by Mallika Saini in ALGEBRA 2 - Houwen - D on Friday, June 3, 2016 at 4:08 pm
INTRODUCTION TO ANALYSIS

Have you ever wondered the effects of caffeine? Have you experiences the effects of caffeine? What is caffeine, a stimulant or depressant? Why does it stop affecting our system after a few hours? How much leaves and stays in the body each hour?

Caffeine affects our Central Nervous System (CNS), muscles, hearts and blood. Caffeine is most commonly used as a stimuli, to raise mental awareness. But, it is also used in herbal, pain-killer medicines, low blood-pressure and weight loss. Thus, caffeine is a stimuli, not a depressant. Caffeine affects restlessness, nervousness, irregular sleeping patterns (excessive) and stomach irritation.

Caffeine also makes its’ exit out of the body even hour. Research from the National Science Foundation reports, in an average person, 13% of the caffeine consumed is decreased every hour. This means, 87% still remains in the body. Every drink that consists of caffeine, hourly it will decrease by 13%.

To put this into work, I tracked the amount of my caffeine consumption over a course of 48 hours. The time began from 6:00 AM on Sunday, May 29 to 6:00 AM on Tuesday, May 31. Within these two days, drink items that included caffeine were; black tea, masala chai, Pepsi-Cola and iced coffee.

ANALYSIS OF EQUATIONS

Over the course of 48 hours, I consumed caffeine seven times. Each time caffeine was consumed, a different equation was created:

  • The first equation (in red) was y=67(0.87)^x-0.5 of masala chai, drank after 30 minutes of 6 o’clock in the morning. It consisted of 67 milligrams of caffeine. However, the 67 in the equation derives from the amount of caffeine at 6:30 AM, saying we drank and finished the masala chai at 6:30 AM.

  • The second equation (in purple) was y=235.38(0.87)^x-4.5 of Dunkin Donuts small iced coffee. It was consumed at 10:30 in the morning, 4.5 hours after 6:00 AM. The coffee itself instilled 197 milligrams of caffeine. But, even after 4.5 hours the previous caffeine consumption was still in my body, 38.38 milligrams. So, 197 and 38.38 were added to get the total caffeine present in my body at 10:30 AM.

  • The third equation (in black) was y=149.07(0.87)^x-10.5 of black tea with 47 milligrams of caffeine. It was consumed 10.5 hours later from 6 in the morning. The number 149.07 comes from the previous amount of caffeine present in body at that time, 102.07 mg, then an addition of 47.07 milligrams.

  • The fourth equation (in blue) was y=131.64(0.87)^x-16.5 of Pepsi consumed. It was consumed after 16.5 hours counting from the 6:00 in the morning. The number 131.64 comes from the amount of caffeine in the Pepsi 38.9 mg and the previous amounts at that time (just before consumption of Pepsi).

  • The fifth equation (in red) was y=103.03(0.87)^x-25.75 of masala chai consumed on day two. The green shade represents from what to what time I was sleeping. Even during sleep the caffeine was releasing out of the body. So, 103.03 comes from the 67 mg in the masala chai, in addition to the previous amounts of caffeine within the body.

  • The last, sixth equation (in red) y=91.72(0.87)^x-35 also represents masala chai being consumed after 35 hours (from 6:00 AM, previous day). As in the previous equations, 91.72 mg is of two “ingredients.” The already caffeine in the body, plus the additional caffeine being consumed from the drink, in this case 67 mg were added to the previous amounts of caffeine, 24.72 mg.

KEY FEATURES of the GRAPH

To break down the graph we have key features. They are features that best describe the graph, for an easier understanding. In terms of the graph, the red line represents 32 mg of coffee, the amount in the body that it is no longer in effect. The horizontal axis, x-axis represents the time in hours, while the vertical line, y-axis represents the amount present in my body.

graphexplaining
graphexplaining
CONCLUSION

Caffeine may seem pleasant for a while, at least until not abused. Within adults, one should consume no more than 350 mg to remain healthy. However, even adolescents take caffeine through chocolate bars or coffee it self. Adolescents should take no more than 90 mg of caffeine per day. A high intake can cause problems such as in sleeping, breathing and blood flow. Caffeine if consumed higher than written should be controlled the next day. Limits should be set up. And, drinking caffeinated drinks early in the morning, allowing the body to process if the whole day will be beneficial. However, after the caffeine levels in your body drop to 32 mg, you can’t feel its’ affects. Drinking caffeine is no problem as long as it is not overdosed or abused.

WHITEBOARD PAINTED WALL (Sections)

WHITEBOARD PAINTED WALLS PROJECT

Science Leadership Academy at Beeber in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is looking for a grant to provide the students clear, focused and interactive space…. (some more intro).

Science Leadership Academy has approximately 325 students. Of those 325, about more than half use use the Engineering/Math room on a daily basis. Multiple students use the space has a collaboration space during lunch. This space engages in a lot of creativity, collaboration and innovation. However, the space is not engaging or pleasing to let ideas run and create. There is a small chalkboard space and unneeded construction paper that takes up space from drawing and sketching ideas.

Painting whiteboard paint hopes to promote effective teamwork and communication. If people find verbal communication an issue, whiteboard paint can open up a space for visual communication. It doesn’t require paper to be used for ideas, just draw and snap a picture. This project is to create a more welcoming environment where ideas aren’t limited to the size of a paper.

The budget required to carry out this project is $500. $450 will be spent on the painting material. We are looking to buy Transparent, Eco-Friendly Whiteboard Paint from Writeyboards for $150 per 50 square feet. The amount of square feet we will be painting is approximately 96.72 square feet. Thus we require two purchases, each at $150. However, to be on the safe side we would prefer to buy 50 square feet more paint. The rest of the $50 will be spent on paint supplies such as rollers and paint trays. We will not need much supplies as it is a one room project, a budget of $500.

To visually see a difference in the room with whiteboard paint, we have a virtual model. The model was created through Tinkercad, a real depiction of our Engineering/Math room. The image has been split. One side with the mounts, that we want to remove. One side with a view of how clean the room would look without the whiteboard mounts. Another image is of the side view, another place where mounts would be removed. It has the same idea as the previous one. It is clearly visible, a room without chalkboard or whiteboard mounts looks more modern and inviting.

Respectfully,

Mallika Saini, Emanuel-Spain Lopez, Jacqueline Shepard and Adam Bennett

La Poesía Española Inspirada por Pablo Neruda

Posted by Mallika Saini in SPANISH 2 - Moran - A on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at 7:34 pm

Yo me perderé completamente.

Porque, el corazón está curando,

Con el bálsamo de amor que aplicaste.

Mi Reflejo

For this project, we were required to basically write a poem of ours inspired by a Spanish poet and a poem of thiers'. I chose the Spanish poet, Pablo Neruda and his "Soneto XXV." It was his 25th Sonnet, a poem about the poet finding a reason to live because of his love. We were required to research on the poet writing a mini biography, writing a mini-autobiography, our reflection of the chosen poem and an orginal poem inspired by the themes of the poet's poem.

Reflection:

I felt that this project had a lot to offer in terms of understanding of context. I believe, I have learned a lot more vocabulary than before which is staying inside me. We tried to meet all of the criteria of this project from making sure that all the concepts are incorporated in a some manner to the completion of this benchmark in time. We did face problems such as time management - a major throw off in our plans. Our deadlines were not met properly, despite those obstacles we came together at the last moment to pull our socks up. I as the health consultant in the video was pretty fun because I do want to do something with health in the future which I found amazing. I was also the recorder, the editor and the prop person along with Iris, which was actually quite fun despite the extra work. We all worked together coming together as a team despite near the end, but before the project was due. I believe our benchmark could be even more exceeding expectations, however, our improper time management caused delays. Overall, despite the stress I felt over this benchmark, I am quite pleased with its' outcome.

Conversation Powerpoint in Spanish, in which we compared Ser and Estar, the "to-be" verbs in Spanish. Both these words mean " "to-be", however each verb is used for different manners. So, in this powerpoint we compared those two verbs using them in situations most valid. This was to help us grasp, as well as others realize the different reasons Estar or Ser are used, in a more engaging way.

I created my skull and mask on as you may have read on my grandfather, Sardar Hardev Singh. He has, is, and will always be my first idol. The following paragraphs describe the reason of my skull and mask appearing the way it is, as well as his importance in my life. He is special and will always remain special in my heart.
ENGLISH
Sardar Hardev Singh, by relation by grandfather, my father’s father. Our strength, our weakness. He is my grandfather, but I never called him my grandfather, daddaji (grandfather in Punjabi), but father. I have only called him by dadaji (father in Punjabi). My first word was even “dadaji” because as a toddler I spent most of my time in his arms. As I lived in a joint family in Dubai, family members would call him “dadaji” causing me to catch on to dadaji faster than mamaji (mom in Punjabi) or papaji. He has always been my father, no matter what I am in relation to him. In my interpretation, Waheguru Ji, has given me two fathers and I am eternally grateful to Waheguru for giving me the love of two fathers.
Him not being present destroys me from the inside each day. Hearing or saying, “dadaji” brings tears in my eyes which flow in abundance or are forming inside me. The fact that I don’t receive calls from him each Saturday morning breaks my heart. The fact that he is not the first person who wishes me on my birthday awakens those birthdays I have spent with him. I haven’t heard, “Happy Birthday Makko” for the past five years, after his death, I have neither celebrated my birthday. I just really want to hear his voice, but I won’t ever be able to hear it. I regret being in the United States during his final days, I wish I was there to be with him, to create and preserve those memories.
The mask includes two flags, each displayed on the eyes. The flag on the left is the flag of India, his birthplace and his identification. The flag on the right is of the United Arab Emirates, the location he spent working. United Arab Emirates is also the country in which he passed away, however, in India he was cremated. There is a sticker placed above his eyes, a sticker of the globe with a plane across it. My grandfather loved traveling, though he didn’t himself. He had dreams to make his children visit those places as he couldn’t. The tongue of the mask is in blue because it represents honesty and respect. My father, or by relation by grandfather was a completely honest man. He did not appreciate being lied to, let alone lie. He respected everyone despite what others may be thinking of him, never missing his professional and personal life. The color red is also a major component, as the red represents love and caring. However it also represented his medical problem. He had high blood pressure for many years, so the color red also represented his high blood pressure issue. Henna like designs are drawn near the head as he was a great henna artist (at least the designs he drew when I was young). Sweet like food items are placed on the teeth as he had a sweet tooth, but had diabetes too. So, he wasn't allowed to consume sugar. Black construction paper is placed around the mouth area as he had a blackish-grayish beard.
The sugar skull was nerve-racking to make, because I felt like it was going to remind me of the way my grandfather looked. My grandfather followed Sikhism, he wore his turban which is one of the five required Khalsa’s to be followed. The turban was also his pride, he felt like a Sikh while wearing it. The turban was an integral part of his identity as a Sikh in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, and so the skull has a parka placed on the head. A patka is the informal way of wearing a turban. The word “punjabi” is written in Punjabi because he had a lot of wise thoughts in Punjabi phrases. The word “family” is also written because he used to treasure his family and really did everything for us. The word “Singh” is written because each Sikh male last name, Singh adds greatly to their identity as Singh means lion. A necklace like object is placed around his “neck” with a Khanda. The Khanda is representing the religion he follows which is Sikhism. Again, as mentioned for the masks I painted India’s flag in the right eye, while United Arab Emirates flag is placed on the left. There are mini mango because mangoes was his favorite fruit. Twice a week he would bring either a case of mangoes as they were eaten in abundance by him and others. His face is covering in silver/white glitter as he was our shining star. If we were down he could always cheer or motivate us, he used to shine for us when we needed his shine the most.
Dia de los Muertos, is a highly celebrated occasion in the Spanish culture and I respect that. However, to be completely honest, I don’t like celebrating the death of someone. I don’t think I have that strong of a heart that I will be able to happily accept that my loved one, such as my dadaji isn't living anymore. Moreover, reliving those memories by sharing them with the families is difficult. I don’t think I can ever just think of him and be happy. I may be selfish, but I want him to still be around. I want to lay down on his lap to sleep while he caresses my hair, like the way I used to in Dubai, 7 years back. I want to be able to share all my feelings, which I only can with him. I want to be able to hug him when I come home from school and eat lunch in the same plate while watching television. Like I said, I may be selfish thinking about my needs or wants, but I don’t ever think it is possible for me to think about celebrating the passing of my dadaji or any other loved one. My heart isn’t that strong to have an outlook as that, but I have immense respect for the people who are able to do this because it requires a strong heart.

Q1. Describe your perfect day.

A1. I would say my earliest memory in Puerto Rico would be when I was a little girl and me and my dad were walking on the beach of Yabucoa and he got this rock and knocked it on a coconut, cracked it open. We ate it but I accidently threw away the piece you were supposed to eat. He was like what're your doing and I was like, I am sorry I didn't know I was supposed to eat that.

Q3. What would you perfect day look like?

A3. My perfect day *pauses* I would say my perfect day would be if all my my mom and dad's family would take like a trip to either a like, a nice little island or Puerto Rico because even though my mom's family has been to Puerto Rico, none of my dad's family have been to Puerto Rico. They are always saying like, "I want to go to Puerto Rico, I want to go to Puerto Rico" and my grandfather from D.R., he says that before you know he passes away he wants to go to Puerto Rico. So, I would say like we would have a nice day in Puerto Rico more (drama) just everybody having fun, everyone interacting with each other.

Q2. What does your future hold?

A2. I would say my future..my future holds what I tell it to hold. Like, what I want my future to be like is I would like to become a marine biologist. Or if I don't pursue that career, I would like to do culinary arts.

Tips for Teenagers (By: Mallika Saini, Aiesha Langley, Hadja Diallo & Eoin Kelly)

Posted by Mallika Saini in ENGLISH 1 - Zeller - X on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at 11:33 am

Based on the I-Search papers that we have completed on teenage development, here are some tips for teenagers to help them be happier and to help them develop in positive ways.

1. Learning to stand up for yourself and your beliefs are important steps in becoming a responsible adult.

2. Social networking can negatively affect your respect toward oneself when browsing on it for a lengthy period of time. Use online networking when vital, than an alternative to cut time.

3. Never give in to peer pressure.

4. Performing activities which others perform, will not help you get anywhere. Be yourself, become a leader, not a follower.

Shah Ruk Khan vs. Salman Khan Infographic

Posted by Mallika Saini in TECH 1 - Hertz - a2 on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at 9:17 am
I chose my topic to be about Shah Ruk Khan and Salman Khan because I am a huge fan of both of them. I believe they both are brillant actors in their own ways and others' need to start recoginzing them as well. Many times people ask who is my favorite actor in Hollywood, but I do not have any favorite actor in Hollywood, which offends them. So, as important Hollywood may be for them, Bollywood is for me. I hope that people learn from this infographic that aside from Hollywood there are other film industries which are worthy due to their actors. If others' know knowledge about Hollywood other than Americans, then Americans can also follow other stars from different industry's.

Sunglasses are extremely fashionable, disregarding when or what you wear it. Sunglasses are trendy and always in fashion. Sunglasses have other benefits as well, such as health benefits. In addition, to health benefits and fashionable style, sunglasses can also be gifted.

The accessory know as the sunglasses have been trendy since the 1940’s. For us, sunglasses is way to state our fashion sense. We both believe that sunglasses can state your fashion sense in many different ways. Including, sunglasses can be worn during any time of the year, not only in the summer. Sunglasses could be paired with almost anything. Basically, sunglasses are something which can keep you in the fashion loop.

There are many health benefits which is another reason why we chose a sunglass as our foundation. Sunglasses help prevent skin cancer around the eyes. In addition, sunglasses help prevent sunburn in the eyes. Sunburn in the eyes can cause irritation and redness in the eyes. Moreover, sunglasses help the eyes adapt to dark light faster. Being in bright light for 2 hours, then imminently being in darkness or under dull lighting can hurt your eyes internally. Eventually, sunglasses are not only to look cool, but also provide safety for your eyes.

Another reason why we chose sunglasses for this project is that it seemed ironic to use them. Since sunglasses are used to protect your eyes from sunlight, adding lights on to the glasses almost cancels out that protection. Also since sunglasses are a very fashionable accessory we thought adding some flashy lights would make them more “cool” and weird but not as stylish as they would normally be. The glasses would then now look more appropriate for raves or events with many lights.

Sunglasses are also something which is very close to Mallika. Mallika lost her grandfather in 2010. Her grandfather’s death occurred after her 10th birthday. Mallika received 2 pairs of sunglasses as her birthday gift from her grandfather, being the last ever “gift” she ever received from her grandfather. For Mallika, those sunglasses are extremely special. The sunglasses are a tribute to her grandfather and a representation of his importance.

So the reason we chose the sunglasses to use in this project is that we know they are important in the fashion and health world. They also are important to one of our group members and serve as a remembrance for her grandfather. Lastly it gives the glasses a sense of irony and create a mocking image towards the health and fashion worlds.

These days social media profiles are something many recruiters look into before hiring their employees. However, many people fail to understand that whatever they may be posting on their social media accounts can impact them in a negative manner. The image I chose represents the message I am trying to convey, which is: keep track of what you do online as it can be harmful to you later on. Many times people want to post pictures of them smoking, drinking, or anything which is negative. However, it can cause a bad impression on the company you are working for and the company does not want to hold a bad reputation. This leads to the person posting those things being fired. Being fired is not something fun and delightful, it can cause financial troubles. So, the message in this picture is that many recruiters, search you on social media platforms before hiring you. They see your previous and current activities on your profile to determine if you are worthy of the job. So, if the recruiter notices something "unsafe" they will not give you the job. Now, this applies to people who are already employed in the company as well. Recruiters often hire people to keep track of your activity on social media platforms, to know if you are causing the company to hold a bad reputation. In addition, even colleges look at your social media profiles before admitting you to their college. In conclusion, your online reputation may cause problems for your future career, so choose and post wisely as nothing is private online.

Expressing ourselves as a group to create a video which describes us, has been a very unique and interesting journey. During the process of this video, we learned that despite our differences we can still come together  to collaborate in order to create a interesting video.. However, along this journey we learned and obtained knowledge that is process was not just educational, but a way to connect together. The video is representing that even though we are “the eyeball” in several categories, there are things which tie us together.

Our Express Yourself Group video, was a journey that we would all cherish. The video has many things which we are doing at a constant rate everyday. The video starts out with differences we all posses, then showing some similarities we all have. Jordan is artistic, while we are not that artistic to create drawings and sketches he can create. On the other hand, Cash’e is not that interested in sports, while the rest of us participate in some sport. RaVana, wants to go further educate herself in some kind of cosmetology school. However, we all would like to pursue a career in the science field. Finally, Mallika has a completely different taste of music than us, Bollywood. Even though there is the difference that Mallika possesses, the video shows the similarities we all have. We all are die-hard fans of fried chicken, we can eat it all the time. Many pictures of us together were also included, as well as our school goals. We showcase our characteristics, on a whiteboard as well. Some characteristics mentioned on the whiteboard included that we all are honest, caring, friendly, and etc. The video closes out with the the characteristics displaying.

Creating these videos as a group, to share our similarities and differences was not the only goal. Our video is trying to spread a theme, a message to people who tend to differentiate themselves from others. A theme which we were trying to share out was, be confident in yourself when it comes to expressing yourself. We applied this theme in our lives as, helping Mallika gain confidence by sharing Bollywood music videos. She was nervous at first, but after gaining self-confidence it was easier for her to express her music taste. Be confident in yourself when expressing yourself to a wider audience. It definitely helps you in the future because you are not too shy. Another, theme which is indirectly being imposed is being different. Being a different person, possessing different characteristics and personalities makes you unique than others’. So, if you being a person who is trying to fit in, you are losing your own uniqueness. This theme doesn’t look like it is being imposed, but it is. The two themes mentioned above were the themes we wanted to mention through the video, as it is carrying an important which needs to be followed soon.

Cash'e Chapman's Artist Statement:
You should know the essential question and what type of person I am overall to understand my video. I learned how simple my life is from video.

Individual Video:

Mallika Saini's Artist Statement

The complexity of my life, has been explained through the video. I have displayed key things which are close to me and define me. For example, the pictures that relate to festivals show that I am really close to the cultural festivals. Such as Diwali and Holi, since those two are the festivals which I have been more prone to than others. Another, element which shows the complexity of my life are my family and friends. My family are people who I am tremendously close to and they help me define in every possible way. They are a part of my life which I have valued since the day I was born. Finally, another way the complexity of my life is presented through my video is my love and affection for Bollywood and cricket. I can view Bollywood movies all day and night, they lead me into another whole world. Cricket, is another thing which represents me because I love watching cricket, especially the International Indian Cricket team and the Kolkata Knight Riders. They way the can bat and catch a heavy ball in the air flying with great pressure amazes me. These are key parts of my video which represent that I have different and unique from others’.

There is so much into my life, that my video needs a bit more explanation to some people. My video includes some details on my religion and festivals, as you might already know I am not a Christian. I am from a Punjabi family, I follow Sikhism which has different holidays than Christians do. For example, you might not understand why my sister is putting color on my face or why we have color on our face at all. This festival is most known as Holi, meaning the Festival of Colors, where we celebrate the wonderful colors life gives us. You might need to understand those pictures in order to understand the video overall. I believe that knowing that I am a Punjabi, following Sikhism will allow you to understand the video much better. This is important because the role of religion and festivals play a huge role in my life.

Expressing myself through a video, was a very touching project to me. It was a very one of a kind way to let us express ourselves to our classmates. A way for others’ to learn how I define myself and express myself. Through the procedure of making this project I learned many things. One of the many things I learned throughout the project was that there are many ways to express ourselves. I mean I created a 2 minute, 10 second video and expressed many things about myself. I always believed that for expressing ourselves to a wider auditions to have to express every single thing. However, in this video I was able to express myself in many ways, religion, music, family, etc. This was the biggest lesson I learned by completing this project. Overall it is a small, simple, but very inspiring thought I realized as I was making the video, as well as presenting it.

Saraa Fadl's Artist Statement

For my individual video, I put pictures of my religion, values,my love for soccer, and quotes that I love. These pictures show who I am. These things are what builds up to who I am. As I was creating this video, I made sure that I represent every topic as I can so that the audience can understand the type of person I am.Even though I showed a lot of pictures that can identify me, there were still things that I haven’t mentioned. For example, I didn’t show my career since it wasn’t really on my mind as I was creating the video. My career is becoming an FBI agent. As I was watching my video, I saw that I put a lot of my friends and family. The reason behind that is that I value them the most. So, to sum it up, I think that the way I created this video is exceptional to me.

Jordan Lewis's Artist Statement
In this Wevideo, it is important to keep in mind the fact that there are many unique people in the world that we live in.  This video is an example of the different ways that people can express themselves and tell people who they really are.  To fully understand my WeVideo though, I think that it is important to keep in mind the fact that this is meant to represent me and the important things that make up who I am, and it does just that.  It shows my different interests such as cars, my artistic talent with pictures of drawings by me, my family, and my friends that I have in this school, and even who I’ve known before I entered into SLA.  This WeVideo presentation is an electronic representation of who I am.  This video benefit not only allowed me to express myself but it allowed me to notice how easy it was in the process.
Completing this WeVideo showed me how easy it was for me to express myself to other people.  I also learned how much of an accepting environment I am in at SLA Beeber.  We are all able to express ourselves to each other and it has brought us together. It has brought us a lot closer than we were before because we knew more about each other and when you know more about someone, you feel more comfortable around them then you would if they were a complete stranger.  During the process of creating this video, I have learned how comfortable I am expressing myself and how I feel that I really don’t need a mask in society and I never wore one.  The SLA Community is accepting and I find myself very comfortable in that kind of environment.
RaVaana Griggs Artist Statement
My wevideo was based on my life and childhood growing up. I also put some things that mean a lot to and some of my hobbies. I define myself by the things I do and it shows who I am by my interest. Also it showed my classmates who I really was that don’t know me so well. I learned from this express myself unit that its not hard to express yourself and, its better to show who you really are rather than hiding yourself. Hiding yourself doesn’t help you it actually is worst than just being yourself because, if you’re being fake when you do decide to be yourself no one will like you for your actual self. To fully understand this project I think you should  know not to hold anything back and show your inner self because, the point of this project was for everyone to get to know you. No matter how you are theres always someone who will accept you and also you should accept you.
