My topic, food safety covers a common sickness called “ foodborne illness”. The symptoms caused by this sickness as well as where it may come from. Foodborne illness is found inside of the food. Whereas through the food can be contaminated with bacteria or parasites. From poor sanitation through the process of the food or the workplace. I contributed to the project of course because I did it on my own, so I played every role to my potential. I think I edited the video well, something I would do differently is try to work with others, for help on things like the recording. I believe the most meaningful part, was informing my peers on what they may be eating, and always stay cautious. So I enjoy being a help to others.

Q4 Artist Statement

May 21. 2018

Incorporated in my work there is a clock, made from the sun and the sec and min hands are being run by the clouds, as the day us passing. Lying by an orange sunset, which I thought would set the tone for the picture and keep the photo coordinated with one another. At the bottom of the picture, there is a young lady, who hair blows in the wind creating the phrase “no time” as she panics while time vanishes as she runs on top of the green grass. O’s fall from the cloud into the phrase no time to emphasize the day or her life is passing by and she has to move fast. The tools I used to create this art was a canvas, canvas painting, using the colors orange, yellow, black, pink, green red, blue. To create the vibrant color in the photo. I think this work represents work I did in the past because my work always wraps around me and a lot of thoughts I may keep private that are spontaneous that truly reveals me. The steps to creating this process were, first to start then continue completing my work, halfway finished and completed next to work on my final touches. Salvidor Dali, because we seem to express our thoughts in an expressive way, creating https://www.google.com/search?q=salvador+dali&rlz=1CADEAA_enUS762US762&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjW5dvf3ZbbAhXIr1QKHeaUADgQ_AUICigB&biw=1366&bih=654#imgrc=BgYWfMc85EsyDM

A certain technique is always important because its what make the photo, the right stroke with a paintbrush can create something you’d never imagined. A new technique I have learned is between t and look for the right brush. I'm most proud of how I turned out to look just how I imagined it in my head and now it's out on something physical. If I could change one thing it would be pace, time. I've learned that the meaning of art is what you create because we're all different so don't be afraid to show off your colors. Tykeiah Martin's & Philamena Seal's Capstone

Posted by Tykeiah Martin in Senior Capstone · Epps · ILP/TFI/CAP on Monday, May 14, 2018 at 12:53 pm

For the class of 2018, we had to create a final presentation for our senior year. I suggested taking part in the action with the homeless people in my city because they are in need which I see often in my community, and thought it would be a good deed to send assistance to those who are less fortunate. The first step we took was to find a location. Where we could reach out to as many individuals, therefore we selected the “Chosen 300” institution. Located in the area of our school, West Philadelphia. After we found a location we began to plan what would be next, helping those in need. The first step was to select the time and dates we were to attend this event. Chosen 300 allowed us to attend on the weekdays Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Where we attended twice a week, Wednesday, May 16, 2018, and May 20, 2018. Chosen 300 welcomed us into their community, allowing us the chance to meet their members of this fellowship. There was a particular schedule when servicing these members. First, we began to prep the food before everyone showed up and set up tables. After was cooperative bible study once we gained our audience. Then was dinner where we served the individuals different vegetables and stomach fulfilling food. I was glad to say I was apart of this experience.

Artist statement

December 20. 2017

My art piece essentially represents the thought, of overthinking. Starting off with a head, specifically the perspective of the side of the face. Leading to a person sitting on top of a head concluding them to also thinking. The thinking person lies on top of a thinking head. Portraying a lot of thoughts. I would like my work to communicate for those who are looking in, is that I'm an artist who thinks a lot about everything and the image of a thinking person on top of a head, visually shows my idea of overthinking. The tools that were used to create this image were a charcoal pencil that shapes the head and the person on top of it. While outlining the art with a white charcoal pencil, to add attention to the person. Also, I used Conte crayon for a darker outline. Leading to the smudge stick with smoother lines in the photo. Lastly, creating this drawing on textured paper. With an edgy effect. I think my old work relates to my new work because often I use the charcoal materials and it’s wrapped also around the mind and me personally. When created this picture, first I stepped into creating the side of the face and looking for the right angle. Then I created the body sitting on top of the head to show a feeling of the body simply relaxing in the process of thinking. Next, i started to shade around the body on the head to show thoughts prospering on top of the body around the head, concluding the ideas altogether. Then I used the smudge stick in 7 out to smooth out the thoughts surround the head of a person, next I began to outline with the white charcoal. Salvador Dali is an artist who focuses on surreal, which is what my art is most likely compared to. I think a certain technique is important to the work to enhance your quality and create the image that you see in your head for others to visually see from your perspective. A new technique I learned was starting off darker shade leading to lighter shade from smoothing it up and down. I'm most proud that I was able to reflect exactly what I was thinking on paper, and now I can let others have a look at what I might be thinking. If there was one thing is could change about this picture is the shading I used around the image. Throughout the completing of this art project I learned to justify what you want, and it can be however you prefer to cause it's yours, and if you use the right utensils everyone else can see your vision as well.

Topic : Oil Spills in the U.S

January 19, 2018

The content of our video, is based on the impact of oil spills in the u.s. I contributed in various way. I bounced around the group editing and organizing the script and collecting different photos for our video. So we'll have a good representation for our classmates. I think i did well by keeping everyone on track maintaining the group and contributing to on task conversation. Something i would do differently is take my time when researching. To pick up all details. I think the most meaningful [art pof our video was acknowledging the fact that were hurting our environment and its important we fix this as a community because this issue has an impact on all of us.

Toxic City We Live IN.

Throughout this research of Toxic's in Philadelphia referring to what is commonly know in poverty is "Lead Poisoning. Which usually has an effect on children who are more capable of eating something they're unaware of. I thought it was interesting that it was said in our article that the paint can sometimes taste like "candy". That can be found very hazardous. Let alone, I wanted to know is there a  we can fundraise money. Maybe inside of our community to come to a sense of justice. For their to be new paint being used on homes, that is not capable of harming our children.

Included in my photo portrait isn't an actual face, but it's me. My art is built on a puzzle piece which reflects all my thoughts and characteristics and people who even means the most to me. Which is built upon who my character is. The art speaks in terms of who I am. Inside of this art piece I used the materials of soft pastel color, sharpie, colored pencil and a soft pencil. It reflects the same idea from my piece. A certain technique is important when creating your artwork because you want to reflect how you feel creating the idea to others if you like to. A new technique I learned throughout this process was to spray my work after the finish to set the tone of it so nothing would change or create a distraction in the photo from any mistakes made. Also, I'm proud of the different color schemes I used through this piece. Additionally, there is an artist named Tim Kelly who also focus on puzzle piece photo. I would change the word addition possibly. I learned that through the process of art your mind may change and you will make plenty differences to the photo and your picture may change throughout the process of you creating this art.

The Process of Sand Storms

Posted by Tykeiah Martin in Environmental Science · Aziz · E on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at 11:42 pm
How do the earth systems affect each other? We realized since the atmospheres on earth are interlinked with one another sharing the same global systems. This manner may contribute to a cause on one atmosphere to affect another. For example, geosphere, biosphere, cryosphere, and hydrosphere which we recently researched this project. Coming to a conclusion that one cause has the ability to affect different environments in various methods. Due to the link of these four atmospheres.

How can an understanding of environmental science aid in handling natural disasters? Now that we are aware and informed how these natural disasters occur, we are now able to acknowledge the concept and search for a solution.

What efforts can we make to create a sustainable future? I would suggest for us to proceed on keeping the earth green. Following the ideas of recycling and managing our resources appropriately. Creating a stronger and healthier economy.
