Art of The Plate

Posted by Ryan Swann in ART ADV - Hertz - b2 on Thursday, January 1, 2015 at 6:20 pm

I started experimenting with the clay by making a spoon. However, after a few tries, I gave up on it because it continued to break. It was a fun way of experimenting and it was a good way of working on my skill. I felt like I was good at it and it was an effective way of creating art. The only problem was making it so that the clay hardened and didn't break.

So for part two it's actually an astronaut and I want the astronaut to be leading into one of the other images and I used 3 different shades of gray white and black paint individually as well. So far I've really enjoyed creating the project because in the Process I did acquire new skills. And I want to also include some asteroids in the background as well.

I am making a MUG as my quarter 2 project. By doing this I am starting to practice how to work with clay. Also I’m having an idea how to design my MUG. I don’t think I like to work with clay. I have many concerns using clay, for example the clay get stuck to the plater. Since I’m not use to clay so I’m willing to try to work with it and learn new things.

Experimenting with Markers and Color Pencil

Posted by Moesha Grant in ART ADV - Hertz - b2 on Friday, December 19, 2014 at 8:10 am

For my second quarter individual project I want to do Pop Art. The different mediums used with Pop Art are marker, color pencil, acrylic paint, and photo shop. I want to use markers and color pencils. I practiced in the below image outlining with markers and shading with value. I outlined the lips with red marker, bottom row of teeth with yellow marker, and top row of teeth with black marker. I wanted to shade the lips with a mix of both red and pink lightly on the upper lip and darker on the lower lip. I darkened the yellow color pencil on the bottom row of teeth because that should have been the boldest. I experienced with color pencil that mixing different colors and values create a more realistic shade.

Tiffany Irick Quart 2 Project Research

Posted by Tiffany Irick in ART ADV - Hertz - b2 on Friday, December 19, 2014 at 8:07 am

When I watched the tutorial, it looked easy to do. When, I started To actually do it and paint it was so hard. Then I started to get the hang of it towards the ending. When I finished the painting I realized that i had to make the swirls more tight in and make it fuller. It was a cool experience because I really Enjoyed it. I cant wait to try it again on my actual project.

I drew something that came to mind. I enjoy using pencil in different ways and I will continue to experiment. I don't like it, but that is okay. I think that I like the clothes the best out of everything in the piece. I want to learn how to draw torsos and arms better in the future.

This piece is a dream catcher. This is a preview of what I want to do. This piece looks really nice and and dreamy. During the experience of this, I came across a few obstacles. One was that I used the wrong brush. One brush was too big and so I went into my lines. This help me for next time because now I know what brushes are too big and what to use. This helped me know what and what not to use during the process. It also helps me know what piece I should color in first to make sure its very neat.

Sculpting Right

Posted by Dior Thompson in ART ADV - Hertz - b2 on Sunday, December 14, 2014 at 1:29 pm

I don’t start out with a particular image when sculpting. When I sculpt, I only think about what’s in my hand and where I can go with practically nothing. I relate with only a slab of clay thinking of it as my life.

I start off with thinking of how life can never be exactly perfect, same thing with sculpting. When you are sculpting with your fingers, you’re using basic tools you hands.

With my piece I decided to not color it because the earthly tone was the look I was going for.

I had fun with this piece of art and look forward to doing something more advanced in the future.

I made my object on Tinkercad because I wanted to do something creative. I accidentally put the head on backwards but I decided to keep it like that to represent uniqueness. The heart-shaped hole through the center represents kindness and compassion. Even though it wasn't a very complicated design, it still looked cool and in the process I learned how to make complicated structures on Tinkercad and to work the 3d printer. I accidentally cut the legs off and decided to just leave it as a torso.
