As we know earth systems affect each other and they all influence each other to make up the climate. We can only things good for the earth if we make sure we aren't affecting the systems such as polluting the air, polluting the water and more. Some efforts we can do to make a sustainable future is recycle, plant seeds, reduce house hold energy and use long lasting light bulbs. These things would help a ton because all we are doing is saving less and doing more for the earth, there's only benefits to this.My reaction to all of this was surprising because its like we are damaging the earth everyday and more and more by the things we need to live our life. However if we do the things to make it sustainable then we wont have to worry about anything but it's gonna be difficult for everyone to be apart of the movement. As you see for my picture me and my group are creating solar paneled transportation, this will help in so many ways such as not polluting the air with these toxic gases we are being exposed to everyday.

Sustainable World 50/50

For our quarter one benchmark, we were assigned to create a business plan for a specific industry. The industry was chose was the automotive industry, therefore we decided to show how electric cars will benefit our future in the long run compared to regular cars. The earth system affects each other on how all of the systems work together in order for everything to be sustainable. The geosphere has four subsystems called the lithosphere, hydrosphere, cryosphere, and atmosphere. Because these subsystems interact with each other and the biosphere, they work together to influence the climate, trigger geological processes and affect life all over the Earth. By going by our guide we can soon build a sustainable future. My reaction to our project is crazy about how much these vehicles have actually impacted our environment. Now we have come up with some way to make it better. https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1VdxL4T28G3-ZinOLkX18UZeIM5m68JnBfmnUAqgQvhI/edit?usp=sharing

For our quarter one benchmark we were assigned to create a business plan for a specific industry . The industry were chose was the automotive industry , therefore we decided to show how electric cars will benefit our future in the long run compared to regular cars . ( Reflection ) The Earth systems each involve each other , our industry uses atmosphere and Geo sphere . Using a car that in running on oils and different gases may mess up our environment and can affect many living things. The atmosphere is polluted and causes dirty air that organisms breathe . The Geo sphere is affected because many of these automotive industry's burn fossil fuels to gain oil for the vehicles . We decided that we can drive while being green by using electric cars that may keep our atmosphere clean and very sustainable. Right now our atmosphere is full of pollution , we want a sustainability life because it can help lives in the future , it saves animals , money and our environment that we live in. We need to focus on keeping our planet green for the better good.

TSA Sustainable Clothing

Posted by Chayna Holliday in Environmental Science · Sasso-Chryst · A s1 on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at 9:25 pm

My group and I decided to create a sustainable clothing line to help the earth. Our goal was to create fashionable clothing but clothing that is good for the earth. All clothes are naturally made from natural materials. We used sustainable way to make clothes and sustainable materials. The clothing industry now affects earth systems because clothing factories release carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. That contributes to global warming and climate change. It also affects the biosphere because living things are inhaling the carbon dioxide into the air. Efforts we can make to create a more sustainable future is making sure we could try to buy clothes made in factories that do this. Another way is to try and have companies find more sustainable way to make their clothes the way my company did.

Sustainable Arrangements

Posted by Elena Webber in Environmental Science · Sasso-Chryst · A s1 on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at 7:31 pm

For Q1s Benchmark, we were tasked to create a sustainable business plan for an industry of our choosing. We chose that of the food industry, resulting in us creating a restaurant— Sustainable Arrangements. For this to be what it’s called (SUSTAINABLE arrangements) we needed to asses it’s Eco-footprint and how harsh/beneficial it would be on our earth systems.

REFLECTION

In short, earth systems affect each other in the way any webbed system would; They each help each other to sustain a cycled system. Our end result uses each (Hydrosphere, Atmosphere, Biosphere, and Geosphere) earth system due to the fact that our restaurant uses primarily ‘natural’ energy. The most important factor for us all is photosynthesis, this process is made from the Hydrosphere, atmosphere, and biosphere. When combined, the Hydrosphere and atmosphere condense and create rain, this is then helpful for the biosphere, to help give all organisms that source of essential nutrient to survive. This then gives the organisms, specifically the plants, the source they need to begin eliminating the CO2 in our atmosphere to create oxygen in the atmosphere, which all organisms need. This is one main system made by these earth systems. Moving onto what efforts WE as a society can do to create a sustainable future, is doing exactly what we’ve done in this benchmark, but put it into actual action. Investing in serious bank$$ that in the end benefits our world and economy more so than just providing a cash flow. If we focused more so on this, the long lasting effects, I bet more money will come out of it, a stable future also. Doing this project really helped me understand why, however, becoming more sustainable is more so looked through rather than actually doing it. It’s so much money to actually place something more Eco friendly, money many Americans don’t have, so it really puts in perspective who has the ultimate control here if we want actual change.

J.a.c.k. Thrift: Sustainable Business Plan

Posted by Angel Rivera in Environmental Science · Sasso-Chryst · A s1 on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at 6:45 pm

Billions of pounds of clothing are wasted/thrown away by Americans every year. Our goal when we created this sustainable business was to greatly reduce that amount. The clothing and textile industry is very harmful to the environment. By recycling clothing, some of the pollution and damage that is being done to the earth during clothing production can be avoided. More than 2,700 Liters of water are used to make a single cotton t-shirt, toxic acid gasses like hydrogen chloride are emitted into the atmosphere, etc. If we all thrifted/recycled our clothing, this pollution would be greatly reduced. We can create a sustainable future by recycling or resources rather than throwing them away, reducing the amount of time spent and pollution created by making new material. Recycling clothing reduces water pollution, the amount of greenhouse gases being released, as well as the amount of materials harvested from the earth/animals.

Transportation Benchmark

Posted by Nydirah Torrence in Environmental Science · Sasso-Chryst · A s1 on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at 6:19 pm

The Earth systems affect each other in how all systems work together in order for everything to be controlled. The atmosphere provides all of the elements in order for life (Biosphere) to exist such as air that contains carbon, oxygen, and hydrogen. The Biosphere has all the animals in which make up life and we know that life includes water(Hydrosphere) that nutrients all the plants and providing drinking water to humans and animals. Water covers the Earth and the Geosphere (land) needs water in order for all the landforms and soil to be healthy.

In my group’s project, we create a sustainable Earth that has trees, frogs, and hybrid cars. The hybrid car that is presented in our visual supports our business name Hydro-Green in which is a company that manufactures hybrid cars. Our slogan is Saving The Earth One Car At A Time, the company manufactures in hybrid cars because they don’t release as much as much gas usual cars and our batteries are not so sensitive so our customers will get the better offer in having a 1-year warranty on their car’s battery. Throughout the process of doing the project, I learned about sustainability; defining as something being maintained over a long period of time. The project taught me that we have to use our resources wisely in order to have resources for the future. Also, it bettered my understanding of how our transportation ways such as cars, planes, trains, and buses really pollute the air of so much gas being put into them and the gas being exerted into the air.

J.A.C.K Thrift

J.A.C.K Industries is a group of people trying to make a more sustainable world by providing better ways to take care of the fashion/clothing industry. The clothing industry isn't sustainable, however, since it continuously uses up multiple natural resources such as water, plants, and animals without even learning to properly recycle and nourish the same resources that help produce things like coats, pants, shirts, and hats. This, in turn, has led to multiple environmental hazards like radiation, deforestation, endangered animals and water pollution. Not only that, it affects the hydrosphere, atmosphere, biosphere, and geosphere. Our plan is to create a shop so people can donate their clothes and we would resale them for cheaper. Along with donating clothes to multiple clothing companies so that they can be reused and recycled into new clothes. That allows fewer greenhouse gases released, which protect the atmosphere. With a more breathable environment, fewer natural resources like cotton and wool and silk will be used to make clothes, which in turn protects both the biosphere and hydrosphere. Using fewer fossil fuels will also protect the geosphere. Understanding how the spheres of the earth are destroyed because of the clothing industry will help people like me and you make the earth a little more sustainable and a little cleaner. By following our business plan, it will reduce how each sphere is affected. Brand names don't matter, thrift to save our planet!

J.A.C.K Thrift is a company working towards the goal of being more sustainable by making better ways for the clothing industry. The reason why the fashion industry isnt sustainable because of the number of resources the fashion industry uses. Like using tons of resources such as water, plants, and animals. Hydrosphere because the amount of water used in cotton uses a lot of water it takes more than 2 thousand liters to make a t-shirt. The atmosphere is affected by the number of gases to go into the air. Geosphere the fossil fuel used in factories. Biosphere the plants and natural resources like cotton. This could help us understand if we do an action what of the following spheres will be affected and if there is better ways to limit the use of using those spheres. The efforts we could do is get used to clothing and not factory-made clothes from the business that sells the clothes or we could make our own clothes. My reaction to some of the effects that the clothing industry uses such as the amount of water used in factories.

Project Hydro-Green

Posted by Khaila Sundiyata in Environmental Science · Sasso-Chryst · A s1 on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at 11:25 am

For our benchmark, my group and I created a business plan as environmental consultants to find a better way to create sustainable resources on our planet. We chose to do the transportation industry since each of us take some form of transportation every day. We also wanted to have less of an impact on the environment so we choose to create a company called Hydro-Green which creates hybrid cars so we are using less carbon dioxide and we can help with maintaining clean air. We used the slogan “Saving The earth one car at a time” because hybrid cars do not release as much carbon as regular cars that use gas since our cars will run on batteries. Things I learned while doing this project were what sustainability is ( Something that could run on its own for a long time ) and why we need it. This project showed me better options for transportation and ways we could better the use of our ecological footprint. Below is our 3-D Model we decided to show a much cleaner and preserved planet earth with people driving our hydro green cars around there are more trees and plants, frogs and other animals, and lots of clean water which are all benefits of driving our car.
