1. How do the earth systems affect each other? An example of earth systems interacting with each other is how tsunamis are formed. Some tsunamis are formed in the middle of the when tectonic plates shirt or move causing the water to create waves this is the geosphere and the Hydrosphere interacting. 2. How can an understanding of environmental science aid in handling natural disasters? Knowing and being aware of the environment can help you prepare for natural disasters. For example, shelters were made as something to prepare for a tornado 3. What efforts can we make to create a sustainable future? Figure out a way to cool the earth's surface to slow down global warming.

Earth's systems are all necessary so one another could thrive. Without the atmosphere, a biosphere of humans and plants wouldn't be able to survive, or the hydrosphere wouldn't exist. An understanding of environmental science will further improve how humanity or factors from other spheres impact one another. Efforts we can use to push towards a sustainable future would first be lessening our use of fossil and unrenewable fuels. From there, we can then make the move to fully renewable energies.

Qawyyah Powers Natural Disaster Project

Posted by Qawyyah Powers in Environmental Science · Sasso-Chryst · E on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at 12:05 am

The Earth systems are connected in various ways but no matter what they all have something to do with each other. Each earth system affects our ecosystem, no matter what system it is they all affect the biosphere, the geosphere is what provides us with the things we need to survive and provides us with each earth system. The atmosphere provides us with the air we need to breathe as well as collects the gases that come from our earth. This is the one system that affects all the systems, due to the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere we're experiencing climate change which affects the biosphere by creating natural disasters, some of these natural disasters come from the hydrosphere, things like hurricanes, tsunami's, and floods. Environmental science helps people understand natural disasters because we're begging to understand the causes of them, how they affect not only us but the world we live. For us to create a sustainable future we need to change the things we're doing, like creating less trash, recycling more, using fewer fossil fuels, and lowering our rate of pollution.

1. How do the earth systems affect each other? Earth systems affect each other through different cycles or systems that happen every day and have a flow of energy. For example, photosynthesis shows how all of the earth’s systems interact with each other where sunlight is able to give light energy for the plant (biosphere) to take in which will transfer it into chemical energy. While the plant is located in soil (geosphere). The water that the plant takes up through its roots is the (hydrosphere). The carbon dioxide that the plant takes in and the oxygen that the plant releases into the air are part of the (atmosphere). 2. How can an understanding of environmental science aid in handling natural disasters? An understanding of environmental science can aid in handling natural disasters because if you understand how certain earth systems interact and how different environments are then either certain natural disasters could be prevented or tragedy for people could be avoided ahead of time. For example, landslides can be prevented through different ways like modifications to slope geometry, installing structures like retaining walls, and diverting debris pathways. 3. What efforts can we make to create a sustainable future? Some efforts we can make to create a sustainable future are reducing climate change and global warming through using more renewable resources, keeping a balance for greenhouse gases, even continuing to understand and study environmental science, and more. My reaction to our findings and overall project: My reaction to our findings is that I found it pretty interesting to see how landslides or mudslides actually work and how they look when they happen. I think the idea of a natural disasters project is interesting, especially since I got to learn more about a natural disaster I didn’t know much about which are landslides/mudslides.

How do the earth systems affect each other? The Biosphere the trees and plants that gets swept away by all the debris, the Geosphere is the rocks and soil that remains the majority of the landslides and mudslides, and the Hydrosphere is the water that is usually at the bottom of the landslides/mudslide that all the Debris fall into. How can an understanding of environmental science aid in handling natural disasters? Understanding environmental science can aid in handling natural disasters by figuring out why and how it is happening so we can find ways to prevent it from happening or if we can't we can always stay away from places that landslides and mudslides happen the most. What efforts can we make to create a sustainable future? Technological advances could always help. We could also plants more trees which would help keeping the soil and ground intact instead of spreading apart.

How do the earth systems affect each other? The systems, by interacting with each other, can cause a change in another. For example, plants that are biosphere take water (hydrosphere) and nutrients from the soil and release oxygen into the atmosphere. How can an understanding of environmental science aid in handling natural disasters? On mudslides in which we had to do for our assignment as a group, it occurs when masses of rocks, earth, or debris move down a slope but if you know how to stop it such as listening to evacuation instructions and having a geotechnical assessment done on your property then you will be able to aid in handling this natural disaster. What efforts can we make to create a sustainable future? The most important effort we can make is saving energy because when we save energy, it reduces the amount of air pollution and water pollution and can also create a healthy environment for people. Your reaction to your findings and overall project? My reaction to the overall project and the findings of the information was fun. It was interesting to design the project and see how it all works out. We used different types of materials such as software for sketching, and different types of ideas on how we can make the mudslides.

Natural Disaster Project: Hurricanes

The earth systems affect each other because they interact with each other daily. If one system were to be overused by other systems there would be an imbalance within the Earth. Understanding environmental science aid in handling natural disasters because it prepares you to have to react and what is going on in your surroundings. The efforts we can make to create a sustainable future are by taking care of the environment. There are many ways how we can improve but the number one rule for creating a sustainable future is by respecting the earth in every aspect. Nature goes through a cycle where these natural disasters have to occur but due to the extreme damage from humankind, they occur more frequently which is not safe for the environment. Creating a plan to help improve this would be suitable for the future.

Cierra Cain- Natural Disaster

Posted by Cierra Cain in Environmental Science · Sasso-Chryst · E on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at 11:22 pm

All of the earth systems are connected to each other and not just in location. the hydrosphere and biosphere share a big connection with each other... photosynthesis. Each system uses the other to continue its individual cycle. Understanding environmental science can help handle natural disasters because it will guide people into knowing what to do and what the most effective ways are to do so. Having an understanding will allow people to know the proper solutions. To create a sustainable future we have to be careful about what we are doing to the world. We also have to reduce our problem with climate change by taking the necessary steps to prevent climate change.

Xavaire Parker Natural Disaster

  1. How do the earth systems affect each other?

They all impact each other to help each grow. The atmosphere contains all the oxygen that the biosphere needs to breathe. The hydrosphere provides for the biosphere and the geosphere by giving water and bringing water to plants and soil.

  1. How can an understanding of environmental science aid in handling natural disasters?

Understanding environmental science can better inform us about the state of the environment and how we are impacting it and how we can ensure that we have a positive rather than a negative output on the environment. We can find ways to alleviate some of the damage that it does, even if we can’t stop the natural disaster itself.

  1. What efforts can we make to create a sustainable future?

Better technological advancements can help us make a better future.

Salena Wimter Wildfires

Posted by Salena Witmer in Environmental Science · Sasso-Chryst · E on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at 9:55 pm

How do Earth Systems affect each other? Earth Systems affect each other in Wildfires, because with the smoke it causes more pollution into the atmosphere and the biosphere is being affected because the habitats are burning. How can an understanding of Environmental Science aid in handling natural disasters? An understanding of Environmental Science can aid in handling natural disasters because we can use what we know about the environment to help find solutions. What efforts can we make to create a sustainable future? The efforts we can make to create a sustainable future is not burning so many fossil fuels but also working together as a group to be more aware of how we are harming the environment.
