How do the earth systems affect each other? Earth systems affect each other because they all work together. Earth systems affect each other if something happens to the geosphere the biosphere will feel it. That’s an example of the earth systems interacting with each other. 2. How can an understanding of environmental science aid in handling natural disasters? I believe knowledge is power so having knowledge on how we are affecting the earth and how each system works allows us to better understand our earth. this also allows us to prepare for storms and how to make the impact on humans less dangerous. 3. What efforts can we make to create a sustainable future? we can learn how our way of living isn’t the best. We can try to find better ways to do everyday things in an eco-friendly way. We can try to do our best every day.

How do the earth systems affect each other? The earth systems affect each other in various ways. They all impact each other to help each grow. For example, the atmosphere contains all the oxygen that the biosphere needs to breathe. The hydrosphere provides for the biosphere and the geosphere by giving drinking water and bringing water to plants and soil. How can an understanding of environmental science aid in handling natural disasters? Understanding environmental science can better inform us about the state of the environment and how we are impacting it and how we can ensure that we have a positive rather than a negative output on the environment. What efforts can we make to create a sustainable future? We can decrease our carbon footprint and cause less pollution. We can also try to limit greenhouse gasses around the world. People think that this issue will just go away but it won’t if we don’t do our jobs as humans. My reaction to this project is just that I feel intrigued because earthquakes really can happen anywhere so it made me want to pay close attention to when it happens, I'll be prepared.

Jasmine Bailey's Earthquake Infographic

1. How do the earth systems affect each other? The earth's system is like a cycle and every system helps the other in some way. The atmosphere provides not only heat, energy, carbon dioxide, etc to the biosphere which is where many living things reside. The hydrosphere helps the geosphere and biosphere by providing water which is essential. The geosphere also benefits from the atmosphere because energy is needed to break down rocks and erosion. Using photosynthesis as an example, the soil is apart of the geosphere, oxygen, co2, carbohydrates are apart of the atmosphere and also the energy from the sun, and the rain provides the plant with water which helps it to grow, and the plan itself is apart of the biosphere. There are so many other ways in which these systems coexist and benefit each other. I only explained some. 2. How can an understanding of environmental science aid in handling natural disasters? Understanding environmental science can better inform us on the state of our environment and know the impact we have on it and how we can make sure we positively affect the environment rather than negatively. Learning about these things can also help us and our family if we ever are in the middle of a natural disaster of any sort. We can learn how to properly benefit the environment and what to expect. 3. What efforts can we make to create a sustainable future? We can make sure we do our best to take small approaches that'll help our environment even if it's in the smallest way. We can find ways to not litter, use less energy, eat less meat, reuse and recycle, grow our own fruits and veggies, etc. There are so many ways we can change our lifestyle to benefit our future and keep the world we live in intact. Reaction: The things I learned about earthquakes are a lot of things I already know about but it was interesting to compare our natural disasters with the four systems. Learning about how to be prepared for an earthquake and the befores and after effects are interesting and just recapping my memory on how they happen and even how long they last. Even though they don’t happen often, it is always important to be aware, prepared, and informed.

Natural disasters and Earths systems

Posted by Joshua Henderson-Long in Environmental Science · Sasso-Chryst · E on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at 8:31 pm

Earth's systems work together in many different ways. The atmosphere and hydrosphere can change the shape of objects in the geosphere, the biosphere can change the look of the geosphere and hydrosphere in both positive and negative ways, etc. Specifically, when talking about a tsunami there are three systems that interact with more of an impact than the others. Tsunamis which are included in the hydrosphere collide with cities that lay closer to the water and tend to harm people in the process. Cities are part of the geosphere and when the tsunami touches land it comes with the destruction of wherever it hits due to the force and water. As homes are destroyed people that are part of the biosphere can also get caught in the tsunami. Understanding environmental science can help us predict what type of impact the natural disaster will have on the area and assist us in preparing so there is not as much collateral. We can try to understand greenhouse gasses more and try to reverse the effects. Learn more about the starting signs of a natural disaster to get a more accurate location and direction.

1. How do the earth systems affect one another? They affect each other in a balanced way, what I mean by this is they all benefit and depend on each other. 2. How can understanding environmental science help when dealing with natural disasters? This can be beneficial to someone in these cases because they may understand the severity of the situation or know how to help themselves in the best way. 3. What efforts can we make to create a sustainable future? We can start by trying to understand what things we put out that affect the balance of life and then strategies ways to better our way of life. Reflection: I learned a lot of interesting things about volcanoes that I didn't know. I thought that this was a really good project because it allowed us to not only research be we were able to take our findings and reflect on them in ways that helped us better understand how volcanoes work.

1. How do the earth systems affect each other? Earth systems affect each other because each sphere works together to create a cycle. For example the atmosphere brings rainwater bak to the hydrosphere. 2. How can an understanding of environmental science aid in handling natural disasters? An understanding of environmental science can help with knowing when a natural disaster may occur and how to combat this disaster. 3. What efforts can we make to create a sustainable future? The efforts we can make to create a sustainable future is creating resources for people who want to know more about how we can protect our environment. Reflection: I really enjoyed this project , researching volcanos and watching videos with active volcanos. Completing this project really opened my eyes about common myths about volcanos and how they erupt. If I never did this assignment I would of never knew about active volcanos that are in Europe as of right now.
