We chose to do a computer as a sculpture because we are very connected to it in almost every aspect of our live and are just huge fans of computers and using them. It is the best instrument of having fun, doing homework/school work, and netflix. It shows that are modern and like to adventure through the internet.

We decided to use a parallel circuit because it would make all the bulbs brighter than a series circuit would. if we used a stronger battery then the bulbs would also be brighter but if we used to much power then the bulbs would bust or shorten.

Amani & Nair Electric Basketball

Posted by Amani Grant in Physics · Gray · A on Monday, June 5, 2017 at 8:44 am

My partner Amani and I have chose a basketball as our object to light up.  Playing
basketball has been something we’ve been younger. For Nair it was the age of 2 and for me it's the age of 5.We chose a basketball because we both play basketball on a daily basis. Basketball has been something that takes away stress and any emotion we feel like we can’t express through words. We both have a love for the game and we both think it's entertaining to do. What the sculpture says about us is how bright a basketball, can make our day brighten up without anybody else having to do so. My love for basketball is crazy like it's my go to when I'm down and I need something to cheer me up. There’s not enough words or love we have for the game of basketball.

Q4 Benchmark "BN Glasses" by Nateerah and Bella

Posted by Nateerah Wilson in Physics · Gray · A on Monday, June 5, 2017 at 8:43 am

For our Q4 Benchmark in physics we are planning to light up a pair of sunglasses. We decided to do Sunglasses because we use glasses in our everyday life. Especially when the sun is out. This invention is called the “BN Glasses”. It gives us the ability to use these glasses anywhere at anytime. At night you wear them and the 4 lights in the side light up! Cool right? I guess so,  All you simply have to do is make sure the wires connect to the battery on the glasses. It’s kind of complicated but it’s a cool way to learn how to light up bulbs.

The reason I choose to make my sculpture is quite sad when you think about it. The very first pair of glasses I got was just the beginning of it all. I broke them because they fell from my face to the floor, and then in pieces. If I were to explain how I broke every pair of glasses we would be here awhile, so instead, I’ll just wrap it up and say my most significant pair that broke. On a fine early day of school, my friends and I were walking down a street. When one of them came across a punch buggy, she punched me in the arm, nothing bad about a little punch. A few seconds later an acquaintance of mine turns around for a punch, this eventually led to my glasses being broken, that would be the 5th pair of glasses I've broken. So that I why I choose glasses. A nice, sad significance.

We choose an iPhone because it's something we use in our everyday life. We also us iPhones as a light we can't see things so making an iPhone with lights around it was really use full. Another reason we selected to build an iPhone is because it's how we connect. We take pictures to send to each other

I chose the DNA double helix because it shows the most interesting part of me. I was inspired by my favorite biologist, Francis Crick, who along with James Watson Maurice Wilkins and Rosalind Franklin had discovered DNA, and my favorite artist, Spencer Shay from ICarly. As a kid I found Deoxyribonucleic acid, DNA, the coolest thing in the world because it allowed organisms to develop, survive, and reproduce without having worries. If I wasn't introduced to the double helix as a child, I might have never wanted to learn more and more about science! Anyways, I love science, and I can't say that enough! Science showed me how photosynthesis works all the way up to the genetic makeup of a horse and all the way up to the voltage of an object, and it keeps going. Science even opened a door to understanding math easier, and this all happened because I took the time as a kid to understand what DNA was.

I chose these books because they’re one of my favorites. They were the books that got me into reading. I remember borrowing one from my middle school library and just reading it wherever I went. When I was done with it, I was so sad. So I checked it out so that way, no one could read it. I would be able to read over and over again if I wanted too. Eventually, I had to give it away and I started reading the second book. Then on Christmas, my grandmother gave me the books for Christmas. I was so excited. I loved it. Now I could read them any day I want too.

This plays an important role in my life because I’m part of the LGBT+ community, and that it means a lot to me as well so I decided to make a flag that lights up to show that pride.
