Alcohol is bad 4head

Posted by Lamier Howard on Sunday, April 14, 2019 at 9:20 pm
  1. Basically our video just talks about what alcohol abuse is and why it’s so bad. The reason I chose this video is because I always wondered why exactly too much alcohol is a bad thing and what happens when you drink to much. I knew what alcohol abuse was but not everything about it. So I wanted to learn about it more. Now with the information I learned, I can help and inform people in the future about alcohol abuse.

  2. I helped write the script, interview our person, film the video, and be in it.

  3. I think I did a good job at writing the script and cutting out the unnecessary stuff. I think I could’ve done a better job of saying my lines for the video since they’re kind of unclear.

  4. I think the most meaningful part was knowing that we created something that could help people with alcohol and teach people about it. That’s what makes this project best in my opinion.

Q3 Anatomy Project

Posted by Lamier Howard in Biology of the Human Body · Aziz · C on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at 10:22 pm
Throughout the project, I have learned many things about the brain and comas. For instance, I've learned how there are multiple states you can be in when you suffer a serious brain injury such as vegetative state and complete unconsciousness. I do wonder however if there will be anyway possible to wake people up in comas who have been there for a long time.

Q3 Botany Benchmark

Posted by Lamier Howard in Botany · Aziz · y1 on Monday, March 18, 2019 at 11:50 am

Throughout this project, I learned a lot of stuff. I learned that there is multiple different ways of farming such as urban farming, tower gardening, and aquaponics. I also learned that climate change plays a big part in food security and why a lot of people now don’t have any food. Luckily, there are organizations that will help these people. A question I have though is will there ever be a time where everyone will have food an there will be no issues? I guess time will only tell.

Toxic Waste is a no no

Posted by Lamier Howard in Environmental Science · Aziz · C on Monday, January 14, 2019 at 11:54 am
So our video is literally just the 3 of us talking about the toxic waste.  Labaron introduces the topic, Emmy talks about the issue, and I talk about what we can do to stop the issue. We chose this topic because we think toxic waste is a very huge issue that isn't talked about enough. We need more people to learn about it. Also, we think toxic waste is the most interesting topic to do. The role I did for the group was talking about the solutions for the issues. I think I did a good job speaking loudly in the video and finding a lot of solutions for the issue. However, we could've made the video longer since it was only 3 minutes long. I think the most meaningful part of the video is telling about how the issue can be solved and why it's important to be solved.

Our School is Toxic (what a surprise)

Posted by Lamier Howard in Environmental Science · Aziz · C on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at 10:36 pm

So my group and I decided to look at the lead levels of around our school and we saw that it was 11 which if inside a human would be really high. I want to say I’m surprised that the lead levels were high like that but to be completely honest, I can’t be. What I am wondering is how can we reduce the lead not only in our school but also in the area where our school is at?

Sustainable Technology

Posted by Lamier Howard in Environmental Science · Aziz · C on Monday, October 22, 2018 at 8:17 pm
Earth systems affect each other because they all rely on each other to be successful. For instance, plants (biosphere) gets water (hydrosphere) and nutrients from the soil (geosphere) and then releases water vapor into the atmosphere. Without one system, the others fail. Getting an understanding of environmental science aid in handling natural disasters is very important because it could help us learn how to deal with the natural disasters when they happen which can save millions of lives. I think some efforts we can do to create a sustainable future is trying to make the world a better place to live in terms of making sure it's healthy. Doing things like recycling more, walking/riding bikes, and turning off electronics when they're not being used could go a long way in terms of making a sustainable future.

Comparative Ethobotany

Posted by Lamier Howard in Botany · Aziz · y1 on Monday, October 22, 2018 at 11:49 am
Indigenous plants, cultures, and wisdom can be conserved if we put more effort into protecting them and giving more respect for their culture and what they do. The structure of a plant affects how they function. For instance, a Venus Fly Trap is structured the way it is so that it can eat bugs. Humans can affect how plants are affected by the climate because the actions of humans always affect how the environment is which affects the plants in that environment. Like when people smoke, it gets in the air which then kills plants. This is why we need to not only take a priority in taking care of plants, but also take a priority in helping indigenous people.

Essential Questions:

1. Events from from Earth system could affect every other Earth system.

2. If you know what environmental science aid is, you can protect yourself and others as well as always be prepared for a natural disaster.

3. I think if we get everyone at least semi ready for things like natural disasters as well as other things, the world will be a safer place and it will make our future seem less grim.

My reaction to this project is that it was pretty fun. At first I felt as though we weren't prepared but after getting it done and submitting, I think it was a cool project and I learned things I haven't learned before.

Fast Plants Reflection

Posted by Lamier Howard in Biochemistry 2 Honors on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at 9:22 pm
This fast plants project did not go how I expected it to go. The F2 generation did not look like how I thought they would because our plants didn't even grow to see if my prediction was right. The parent generation grew faster because they actually grew. I think our plants didn't grow because we kinda forgot to water the plants everyday and obviously plants need water to grow so yeah. Genetics and the environment affect the phenotype of an organism because it determines how the organism will look like when it gets older and how it will live. I think genetics is a greater indicator of how an organism will look because the genetics will stay with that organism forever while an environment could change and not have as big of an affect as genetics on the organism. Something that stood out to me during this course was that it takes a lot more work to take care of plants than I thought. You go just a couple of days without caring for your plant and everything can go wrong like it did here. Remember kids, water your plants.

The Domino Effect: How it affects an ecosystem (by Lamier, Anthony, and Terrance)

7431223836975802935
So for anyone who doesn't know, the domino effect is when you take one thing out of something and it affects everything. For instance, when you take a domino out of a line, the entire line of dominos won't go down. We used these dominoes to represent an ecosystem because if you take one thing out of the ecosystem, it would affect everything. For example, if you take away the sun, every living thing in the ecosystem would die. In fact, the entire world would die. You can say the same thing for water. Even if you take away a primary predator, it would affect the ecosystem as there would be an overabundance of a certain animal which could be bad. After doing this project, we feel like we learned more about not only ecosystems but food webs and food chains as well. We learned that the littlest things could have a huge effect on everything.  Some things that stood out to us was the fact that some animals that you don't think are important to an ecosystem really are very important. For instance, we didn't think flies were important but if you take out flies, animals like frogs wouldn't be able to eat them which could cause frogs to decrease in population. Then animals like snakes would decrease and it would keep going and going. Something we are still wondering is can there be an ecosystem that isn't affected if we take something out of it.

R.I.P Kiyah

Posted by Lamier Howard on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at 10:00 am
This blog post is for a poetry project. In this project, I had to write 3 poems about an object that is important to me. I chose my baby sister's urn because her death impacted me and my life forever and I will never forget her.

Poem 1: "Here's a little story"

I remember sitting at the table with my siblings.

Sitting at the table, talking with each other and nibbling.

Then our mom came downstairs, telling us she was expecting.

I didn’t know how to feel, my feelings were affected.

For 9 months, I couldn’t wait to be a big brother again.

Absorbing everything I needed to know into my brain.

I couldn’t wait to teach my little sister everything I knew.

Like how to play video games and why you shouldn’t eat glue.

Then that’s when I got the news.

I couldn’t believe it, I wish it was untrue.

She died right at birth, she didn’t even get a chance at life.

I wanted to die at that moment, don’t care if it was by a gun or knife.

I didn’t want to go to the funeral. My heart was in too many little pieces.

The rage inside me kept increasing.

I cried and cried, wishing she got a chance.

But I knew I had to keep going, I had to advance.

4 years later, I’m still wishing I had her in person.

I thought the depression would worsen.

But I have her urn so she’s still with me.

I’ll never forget you Kiyah. R.I.P.

Poem 2: "To be honest"

When I first heard that I was getting another younger sister, I didn’t how to feel.

I wanted to be excited but I needed to be real.

You should always be excited when you getting a baby.

But at the same time, I was so jealous it was crazy.

In the first month, my jealousy was increasing.

It kept boiling, it kept heating.

Then my mom told me all the wonders of getting a baby sister.

My jealousy went away and my excitement got bigger.

Looking back at it today, my jealously really was stupid.

However, I guess jealousy is one part of being human.

Luckily it went away and I had a chance to be excited.

One day, me and Kiyah will be united.

Poem 3: "Asking myself"

I gotta ask myself one question.

What would it be like if Kiyah survived?

This question got me dealing with depression.

This question is making me not wanna be alive.

If she survived, what would I teach her?

I had so much, what would I start with?

When she died, all that knowledge became a blur.

I want her back alive, that’s my only wish.

It’s no point in wishing though.

Wishes are fake just like a lot of things.

All I can do is let the tears flow.

And continue to go on with the things I care about as my wings.

I don't have a title for this project

Posted by Lamier Howard on Friday, May 26, 2017 at 7:47 am

Q1- For this project, I had to create a website. The website had to be all about me. The goal of the project was to tell information on me so that people would know. I think this project was a failure. I say that because I didn’t achieve everything I wanted.

Q2- For this project, I had to learn codes and do them to solve puzzles. I then had to record a video of me doing the project. The goal of this project was to learn codes and solve puzzles. This project was much better than my first one. I achieved mostly everything I wanted to

Q3- For this project, I had to create 3D model (although I didn’t have to print it out). I decided to do a meme for this project. The meme was called it’s time to stop. I created it by creating a clock with a circle, an arrow, and inside of the clock, I wrote stop all around it. I then wrote over the clock “oh boy would you look at time?” The goal of this project was to create an image that could be 3D modeled. I feel like I did that and it was a good project.

The reason I chose to do this project is because I didn’t finish everything I needed for it. There were still levels that I needed to complete. One was the “For Loops” level. I wanted to particularly do this one because I felt like it was easy and I didn’t try hard enough on it. That’s why I wanted to do it.

Your high point of the course when it comes to your learning.

A high point of the course when it comes to learning is being able to hear directions once and then not need help for the majority of the class.

An area of growth for you.

An area of growth for me is being able to do my projects better. I went from a really bad 1st quarter project to a really good 3rd quarter project.

How you have used or could use a skill or technique you learned this year outside of this class.

I could use my knowledge of making a website to help people make a website if they want to make one or need to make one.

An idea you want to pitch for a project for next year's class.

A project I want to pitch for next year is creating a music video. I think this would be good because not only is it something fun, it will also help kids learn about technology.

3 tips for anyone taking this class.

Listen to the teacher and pay attention. If you don’t, you could miss something that will mess up your project or assignment.

Finish your work early. If you wait until the last minute to do it, you could mess up or not get everything you wanted.

Work your hardest. If you don’t, you won’t get a good enough grade.

It's Time To Stop!

Posted by Lamier Howard on Friday, March 24, 2017 at 9:52 pm

My project was to make a popular meme using 3D modeling. What I hoped to learn is how to create a 3D image using simple tools and shapes. To create my meme, I had to create a clock with the word stop going around it. To do this, I had to get a circle and expand it. I then had to add a rectangle and put a triangle on top of it to be the hand. The success I had was actually creating the clock. A failure I had was putting the words in the clock. I overcame it by taking my time and not rushing. What I learned through this project is that taking your time will always be better rushing. What I learned about myself is that I work better when I’m focused than when I’m not. If I could do this project differently, I would probably try to add more stuff to the model. Some tips for people doing this project is do something you want to do and know you can do. This project has inspired to create more 3D models. The tool that I used help convey the message I was trying to make because Tinkercad has many options that you can use to create something. I wanted to show that in my project, I can use a lot of stuff which would portray the message that I’m versatile.

Computer Science Project

Posted by Lamier Howard on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at 1:07 pm

So my project is basically me learning codes and doing them to solve didn’t problems. The goal of my project is to do all the levels and complete one of the challenges. What I hoped to learn from through completing the project is how to do basic Javascript. So to do this project, I had to watch a video that tells what the levels we will doing is about. Then we had to answer questions related to the level. Lastly, we had to actually use the codes we learned and complete the level. Successes I encountered was completing all the levels. Failures I encountered was not completing all the levels fully. However, I was still able to learn basic Javascript. I also learned the concepts and ideas of basic Javascript. What I learned about myself through the completion of the project was that I shouldn’t judge something before I actually do that. I say that because at first, I thought this would be easy. However, after finishing all the coding, I realized that this was way harder than I thought. If I was to do this project differently, I would complete all the levels fully. A tip for others doing this project is pay attention to the video and rewatch if you need to. This project inspired me to try harder Javascript.

My Website

My project is all about me. It talks about things about me, my resume, and a project I did last year. My goal throughout this project was to tell everyone some things about me. What I hoped to learn throughout this project was how to create a website and all the different parts of a website. And I did learn those two things. To make this website, I first had to find a website. I had one at first but I decided to change it. After that, I had to create my Home page, About Me page, Resume page, and Project page. I then added information on the pages and I was done. One failure I had was that my first website deleted all my stuff so I had to use another website. What I learned besides the other two things about my website is that you always need a backup plan. What I learned about myself is that I learned I have more accomplishments than I thought. If I was to do this project differently, I would add more pictures. A tip I would tell others doing this project is make you have another website just in case your first website doesn’t work out. This project didn’t really inspire me although it was fun. I think the message dictated the medium because this entire project was about me.

"Hard Work Will Always Beat Talent"

Posted by Lamier Howard in ART 9 - Hertz - e1 on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at 8:34 am
"Hard work will always beat talent." This quote popped into my mind when I was watching basketball. I was watching a video about the greatest NBA players who weren't physically intimidating. The top 3 on that list were John Stockton, Steve Nash, and Dirk Nowitzki. As I was watching their highlights, I was amazed at how good they were despite not being physically intimidating like Lebron James or Russell Westbrook. Then, I realized that they worked hard to get to where they are now. Since day 1, they worked hard to become the best they could. Because of this, they were able to face off against some other guys who were able to play in the NBA because of their physical attributes. Because of this hard work, they were able to become NBA legends and 3 of the greatest NBA players of all time. The objects in my room are a treadmill, a dumbbell, and a workout ball. These represent my quote because it shows that my person is working hard to get better. If he does this, he will be able to overcome his lack of talent and become the best he can and the best he could be.

"Deadpool" Street Art

Posted by Lamier Howard in ART 9 - Hertz - e1 on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at 8:35 am
When you look at my drawing of Deadpool, you would think it is just a drawing of Deadpool. Well, that is exactly what it is. There isn't really a meaning. It just looks cool. What inspired me to draw it was......well, it's Deadpool. Who wouldn't be inspired to draw a walking tumor? The location I chose was the first bookcase next to Mr.Rosen-Long's room. I figured to put it right there so that when people get a book, they can see the beauty of Deadpool. I also put it right there because I was too lazy to walk around and look somewhere else. This project changed my perception of art because it showed that not art has to have meaning. It changed my perception of art around the city because it showed that you can turn even the dumbest stuff into amazing art.

Social Media Survivor Guide

Who am I Online

I am nobody online. I don’t appear as anyone online. People can’t percieve me because I don’t really appear online. I consider if what I post will offend anyone and if it’s too graphic.Pros of posting online- Can become popular, express your feelings, voice your opinion. Cons of posting online- Can be hated on, people can have a negative opinion on you, could hurt someone else’s feeling. Once you post someone online, you have a lack of control over what you posted. Also, when you post something, it can stay on the internet permanetly. Lastly, when you post on online, people will immediantly see what you posted. I think that company owners shouldn’t check your social media background, because they might judge you over it and you’re not a bad person. Free speech is the ability to say whatever you want. Nothing is protected from saying something. An internet troll is someone who says something on the internet to make something feel bad and enjoys it.They enjoy it when people get sad or mad. We can stop trolling by ignoring the trolls. The pros of posting anonymously are you can get internet famous and post your opinions online. The cons of posting anonymously are you can get hated on and people can judge your opinions in a harsh way. Never post something offensive. Never post something inappropriate. Always ignore a troll.
