Humans of SLA Beeber: Daniel Crowell
Daniel: Well, I would say the U.S. military has had some of the biggest influence. It has not only made me look at how I want to live my life, but on how I will be protecting/saving lives.
Jessica: What are your goals and ambitions for the future?
Daniel: I would say one of my main goals is to graduate SLA and get into the Naval Academy, and from the academy, graduate as a high ranking officer in the United States Marines.
Jessica: Why, might I ask?
Daniel: Because I like helping people. There has always been a part of me wanting to help people out.
Jessica: How would you like to be remembered?
Daniel: To be honest, I have no interest in being remembered.
Jessica: But if you make it to the military, won’t you be remembered for what you did for our country?
Daniel: I might, but my life goal is giving my life to the loved ones back home weather it be my family and friends or the country itself.
Jessica: What is your earliest memory?
Daniel: The earliest memory has to be of me and my sister being washed by our mom.
Jessica: Whatʼs the most exciting thing youʼve done?
Daniel: The most exciting thing I’ve done so far has to be going to Outward Bound! The experience was literally life changing.
Jessica: Is there anything you remember most from that trip?
Daniel: The one thing I remember of this trip has to be the trail name I got. In the trip, I was a kid who was more than willing to help my friends with heavy things whether it be pulling the canoe ashore or taking things up to our camp.
Jessica: What was your trail name, if you wouldn’t mind me asking?
Daniel: Oh god, Carebear
Jessica: What is your biggest fear or phobia?
Daniel: My biggest phobia is hights! I just get this weird feeling when I’m looking down from a great height
Jessica: What are you proudest of?
Daniel: I am most proud of the armed forces, whether they are protecting our homeland here or out fighting for our freedom, I feel they pay with their lives to keep us free.
Jessica: If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be? And why?
Daniel: If I could travel anywhere in the world I would say, Spain or Europe even in general. I’ve heard so much about Europe that I would want to see things, ranging from the coliseums in Greece to the Running of the Bulls in Spain.
Jessica: Thank you for your time.
Daniel: Any time.Humans of SLA Beeber: David Gladney

Question: If you could go back in time and change something what would you change?
Answer: I lost my phone in February... I dropped when I was running for the bus with a old friend...so when I dropped my phone I asked her to pick it up and I would catch the bus and I ran on the bus and then I got on the bus when she got on the bus she said she didn't see it and she didn't get it. So I wish I had gone back and gotten that phone I felt really bad about it.
Question: Who is your idol and why?
Answer: My idol is my father. The reason for that is that he is very inspirational and he motivates me everyday. My dad is a really silly, intelligent, and charismatic. He is someone I would want to be when I grow up and he is just the BEST.
Question- What is the best thing about being a teenager? What's the worst?
Answer: OMG! That’s so hard to answer. I don’t even know how to sum that up. So there are lots of things that are so great about being a teenager. I guess the best thing about being a teenager is I’m able to get more responsibility from my family and especially my mother.
The worst part is that I have a lot of more responsibility to deal with especially with my Brothers and sisters and when I’m babysitting kids. I also think that that the hard part is with having to do more work and chores basically stuff like that.
Humans Of SLA Beeber
Were there any phrases that were popular when you were a teenager? What did you like to wear?
Uhh.. some slang words like wassup and uhmm and in the 80s i don’t really remember too much but not too many ,
I loved to wear jumpers that was the thing back in the 80’s and the 90’s . the jean jumpers and i would let one hang to the side sometimes and you can wear both of them. Reboks were the sneakers that a lot of people wore before, not nikes or jordans , they were more for the boys but the boys wore reeboks and some girls were into jewelry but not me. They were into big hoop earrings or the big bamboos but not for me but that was the still for the 80’s and 90’s .
2.Have you ever had any nicknames as a child or as an adult? Where did they come from?
Yes, yes everybody knows my nickname which is baby donna and the only reason why they called me baby donna is because we had three donnas in the family. we had a cousin named donna and she was an adult when i was a child and we had my aunt donna which was my mothers sister so in order to distinguish me from the others, when the name donna was called ,they would say baby donna because I was the youngest donna.
3.How are your children like you? Unlike you?
Oh my children, my beautiful girls are all individualized with their personalities and creativeness and you are really good at listening and being a good friend and a great helper and i think you just have that on your own , i don’t think you get that from me or your father, you just got that on your own and thats who you are as janelle and i think kyla is very observative and shes more alert and aware of her surroundings and nia is very artistic and i think you all have your own personalities , i don’t see any of those characteristics in me i think what we do all have in common is a love in music, even though we have a different taste in the kind of music that we listen to. But me and you can relate a little bit with some music. Kyla and nia have their own taste in their music but we all have some stuff that we like and some stuff that we listen to on our own. So in summary you guys share your own comparisons with me as a child but but no you guys as far as like your own way of of living your life and doing certain things that you love its really individualized
4.What do you think are your three best qualities? Your three worst?
oksy my three best qualities, strong not physically i mean mentally emotionally and you know just with life in general overcoming obstacles. Uhmm, the second quality is uhmm.. my love and understanding for my family and other families and compassion and empathy that I have for people that I meet uhmm. . my third quality would be just learning at any given moment able and willing and excited and ambitious to just learn a lesson from everything . So my three worst qualities : organization i’m not organized as much as I should be .. uhmm the second would be im a little naive sometimes i should open my eyes a little bit more when it comes to certain things in life . third is .. uhmm.. a third one .. Pass .

Question: What’s something in your life that happened or happens a lot that really bothers you or really affects you in a lot of ways.
Answer: “We’ll everything affects me in my life but something that was very significant was when I found out a friend of mine got raped. That was very eye opening for me because it is something I have always feared and that fact that someone has gone through that is very heart-breaking and sad.”
Question: What’s something that really irritates you?
Answer: “Wow...there are just so many things but something that really irritates is the double standard. Which is like that fact that guys can have sex with alot of guys and be considered the man or its a positve things but if girls do the same things she is shamed by being called a hoe, thot or slut.”
Humans Of SLA Beeber: Alexis
Alexis(From Main Campus)
Me talking- Hey Alexus Ok so I have about 3 questions for you and you don’t have to answer them if you don’t want to, I can just ask you another question.
Alexis talking- Okay cool
Me talking- Ok so where were you born? And how did you like living there?
Alexis- Ok, So I was born in New Castle, Delaware and I lived there for about 5-6 years and that’s when I moved to philadelphia. I moved because my mom and dad had lived in New Castle for a long time and they wanted to try something different out so they moved to philly. I actually really enjoyed living in Delaware. I kind of miss it a little. I remember bits and parts of it and I remember the setting and what my old house used to look like
Me talking- Ok cool.. Wow I never knew you lived in delaware
Alexis- Yeah.. I know right (LOL).. People say that lot
Me talking- Yeah..Ok so My next question I have is what is your ethnicity and how do you feel about your ethnicity?
Alexis- Well my mom is black and my dad is white. So I’m mixed with black and white and I guess I classify myself as mixed. I don’t really know any other way to describe that (lol)
. I feel pretty fine about my race or ethnicity I should say. I don’t have a problem with it or anything it’s something I was born with that I can’t change so… Yeah
Me talking- Yeah I get what you mean.. That’s pretty cool. Ok so this is the last question I have…. What is something that you wish you could go back in time and change?
Alexis- OOOO this is a good one because I was thinking about this yesterday. SO 2 weeks ago I told a girl that I thought she was Ugly and that I didn’t think her crush would ask her out. So I didn’t feel bad at the time when I said that but, I found out that the girl was really upset that I said that and she was crying in the girls bathroom each day because she felt so insecure and disrespected that I said that. People said that she began to stop talking to the people and every time the boy was around her she would walk away really fast and start to cry because she believed what I said and thought she was too ugly to be around him. I know this sounds awful that I said that and when people were coming up to me telling me that I was a mean person for doing that I immediately felt bad and didn’t know what to do. I didn’t just want to go up to her and apologize because I knew that wasn’t going to be enough. “ If I told you everything that I did after that to make her feel better and stuff you would be writing down a lot So I’m just gonna say that’s what I regretted.
Me talking- OH Okay Lol.. You can tell me later because I wanna know what you did…
Alexis- Okay
Me talking- Ok so That’s all the question I have for you… THANKS!!

Mr.Rosen-long: "I’m from Brooklyn,New York City."
Autumn:Ok.Describe the neighborhood you grew up in?
Mr Rosen-long: "The neighborhood I grew up in has changed a lot since I grew up there. When I first um… when my parents first moved to that neighborhood it was not a very wealthy neighborhood and the neighborhood was really diverse there was a lot of people from all over the world. A lot of my neighbors were spanish speaking,a lot were African American, and neighbors from Ireland. We had some neighbors from Asia, all over the place. And that was where I grew up, and we all used to play hockey in the streets together ,and stuff. And now the neighborhood has gotten more popular so it got more expensive. And then a lot of people that use to live there haven’t been able to stay in the neighborhood, they been pushed out...or displaced is the fancy word. And so now unfortunately the neighborhood is not the same as it was. It’s much fancier now.Just less exciting."

Um,yeah,a paleontologist is someone who goes and looks for dinosaur bones. When I got older I didn’t know what I want to be.I guess I wanted to work with politics, but not like be a politician.Like do stuff, like help an organization that helps people."
Autumn:Cool, last question. What is your earliest memory?
"Mr.Rosen-long:That’s a good question.Uh… my earliest memory ever. I remember when I was a little baby being in the old apartment,my parents used to live. And we had this dog,and I don’t know how big it was,but it seemed really big to me.I remember sitting and playing with the dog,it was a big brown dog. That’s probably my earliest memory."
