Tree Of Life

Posted by Samantha Wise in ART ADV - Hertz - b2 on Friday, February 6, 2015 at 7:33 am

  1. Project Description
For my project I’m doing a tree of life on a canvas. It will be a sunset setting and the tree will be filled with leaves on one side and on the other side will be dead with no leaves while birds are flying away.

  1. Reasons for Selecting Topic
I selected this because there are so many things going on in my life that I appreciate and then its somethings that I’m not so grateful for and I want to show that with this tree of life without me having to explain.

  2. Knowledge or Experience of Topic
I knew about the tree of life for a while now I just didn’t decide to do it then because I didn’t know if I was capable of pulling it off, but now since I did my first project I have more confidence

  1. New Learning
I will have to acquire some see and draw skills ( drawing what I see in my head) because I know that sometimes I think about how I want it to come out but not all the time it comes out that way. I need to have skills with pastels and shading because with this i’m gonna need a lot of shading

  1. Preliminary Research Results
I did some research with watching youtube videos , I found out that In need pastels , and a black marker in order to do my tree of life.

  2. Main Project Tasks
My main projects tasks is to make sure I’m blending right, I Will on a rough draft of the drawing on a small piece of paper and then i will see which type of canvas is best to use for my drawing. After that I will start with my base which is the blending of the pastels to make my sunset, after thats done i will draw my tree and birds.

  3. Potential Challenges
I think i might have some challenges with drawing my tree and birds and being able to fit it on my canvas

  4. What will your project end result be?
My end result will be having experience working with pastels and a canvas. I Know my project will be a success because I know that I have done everything step by step  , good research and have practiced.

  1. Student  Acknowledgement

I acknowledge that I am responsible for completing my project on time. I also agree to submit revisions to my project proposal as required. I understand that I am responsible for tracking my own progress and asking for assistance from my teacher and/or peers when I need it.

I decided to make this because I was interested in making stuff look girly like a creative. I want to make something more advanced more my actual project but I did enjoy using and making sure I knew how to use the materials. Although I did not put sharpie on my research list , the sharpie made an improvement on how my drawing came out so I do plan on using it in the future.

Art Elective Project Reflection

Posted by Gracehong Platt in ART ADV - Hertz - b2 on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at 12:11 pm

  1. For my project I wanted to draw something from my past. I chose to draw a dancer because it was something that I really enjoyed doing as a kid. I used color because I thought it looked nice, and I wanted to make use of the negative space so I drew a ribbon. For this piece, I just wanted to have fun with it. The end result was not exactly what I was going for, but I do like it a lot.

  2. Describe your project
It is a pencil drawing with color. I drew a dancer from off of the internet and I added a ribbon around the dancer. I drew it because I like dancing, drawing and the color purple. I really like how it represents my love for those two hobbies.

  3. What knowledge did you already have about the project before you started?
I already knew some dance positions and I also knew how to draw basic figures.

  4. What new skill did you want to learn coming into the project?
I learned how to incorporate color into a sketch.

  5. Did you accomplish this goal?
    Yes I did.

  6. How do you know you accomplished the goal? If you didn’t accomplish the goal, why do you think that is?
I think I accomplished my goal because I drew what I wanted and I did it. I am satisfied with the outcome and that is what I wanted for this project.

  7. What other skill(s) did you learn along the way?
I learned how to use negative space to add more to a piece. I also learned how to draw cool ribbon sort of.

  8. What are you most proud of in this project?
I am proud of the figure drawing I did.

  9. What would you do differently if you had to do the project over again?

I would have drawn another one in a different pose.

Art Elective Project Reflection

Please answer the questions below. Do not delete the prompts!

  1. Describe your project

    1. My project is liek I said a reflective piece. My piece is sort of like an illusion. I say that because you can see the main piece in two ways. It can be seen as a tree with colorful; leaves or an women face with a colorful afro. I did it like this because they go together because its like in the future I want to be and want my husband to see me as a natural african queen. On the sides are like fog clouds surrounded with birds and smoke. I put that because its like I don't want my life plan is but I hope its surrounded with peaceful and get rid of all the negativity.

  2. What knowledge did you already have about the project before you started?

    1. Besides my research on finger painting, the only knowledge I had was that I knew was that I wanted this to be a reflective piece representing what I am and what I want to be.

  3. What new skill did you want to learn coming into the project?

    1. I wanted to learn how to come out of my comfort zone with the images I do. What I mean is that I wanted to more than the basic drawings that I do and mature my pieces a little more.

  4. Did you accomplish this goal?

    1. I believe that I did accomplish this goal because I feel like my piece was very creative and mature because of the meaning behind it.

  5. How do you know you accomplished the goal? If you didn’t accomplish the goal, why do you think that is?

    1. I believe I accomplished the piece because like I stated above, the meaning behind the image, and the multiple pieces that on the canvas, and they all add up together.

  6. What other skill(s) did you learn along the way?

    1. While doing this, I learned that more thoughts/ideas come to mind when you're in the actual process of completing the piece. Like when I was doing this, I already had dow and knew what I wanted but as I continued, more thoughts and ideas co=came together to incorporate into the canvas.

  7. What are you most proud of in this project?

    1. In this project, i think I'm most proud of actually completing this and it being what I wanted plus it looked better than I imagined it would.

  8. What would you do differently if you had to do the project over again?

    1. If I had to do this project over, I think I would practice more finger painting methods because you can see some of the places that my fingers went across.

Art Elective Project Reflection

Please answer the questions below. Do not delete the prompts!

  1. Describe your project

For my project, I created abstract art by melting crayons with a heat gun onto cardstock.

  1. What knowledge did you already have about the project before you started?
I didn’t have much experience or knowledge about this project besides that I had a general idea what melting crayons would look like.

  2. What new skill did you want to learn coming into the project?
I wanted to create something that isn’t perfect, something that doesn’t have to be completed in a certain way or it won’t look right. I wanted to learn how to work without being such a perfectionist.

  3. Did you accomplish this goal?
I did accomplish this goal, although it was hard at times.

  4. How do you know you accomplished the goal? If you didn’t accomplish the goal, why do you think that is?
I know I accomplished this goal because there were a few occasions when things didn’t turn out how I planned and I wanted to give up. However, I kept going until I completed my project and I was happy with my results.

  5. What other skill(s) did you learn along the way?
I learned how to work a heat gun properly along the way.

  6. What are you most proud of in this project?
I am most proud of the creativity and individuality in my project. I am also proud that it isn’t precise and clean cut like my other projects usually are.

  7. What would you do differently if you had to do the project over again?

If I had to do the project over again, I would plan out a color scheme for my crayons so that all the colors are complementary and flow together nicely.

Shaded Comic Collage Of Me

Posted by Samantha Wise in ART ADV - Hertz - b2 on Friday, January 30, 2015 at 7:52 am

This is just one picture I did to see how my collage would turn out. Basically it will consist of a lot of shading and tracing like i did in this photo but it will take a while because I'm gonna use a series of photos. i'm thinking about leaving it in black n white but then again maybe some color will suffice my skin tone. The materials I'm using is something like stencil paper , and a pencil using it to trace and shade.

Wolf Sketch

Posted by Sulaiman Abdul-Hadi in ART ADV - Hertz - b2 on Friday, January 23, 2015 at 8:12 am

  1. Describe your project
The project is a sketch of a wolf.

  2. What knowledge did you already have about the project before you started?

I knew how wolves look and their characteristics of them so it's easier to draw the details.

  1. What new skill did you want to learn coming into the project?

I learned how to outline a drawing to keep on what have looking neat and to keep it from looking like its fading.

  1. Did you accomplish this goal?

Yes I accomplished this goal because I successfully outlined the wolf and I colored in what I could to bring it more to life.

  2. How do you know you accomplished the goal? If you didn’t accomplish the goal, why do you think that is?

I accomplished this goal because the wolf looks more permanent and the colors seem to have brought the characteristic of the wolf to light. The drawing is much better than when I first started.

  1. What other skill(s) did you learn along the way?

I learned how to not follow a pattern when drawing fur so that it has that wild unkempt fur look.

  2. What are you most proud of in this project?

I am most proud of the wolf’s eyes and the color I chose for it. It’s the thing that stands out to me the most.

  3. What would you do differently if you had to do the project over again?

I would sketch a wolf in a different position, probably from a side profile because I think that would make for a cleaner drawing and I could probably get more detail in the drawing.

This was by far the hadest drawing ever. I almost gave up but I desided to try one more time. I think its going to be even harder to put it on the canvas. I'll try but I fear that my project is not going to be as good as I hoped. Hopefully everything will be ok.

Preliminary Work

This is the work i've done so far. Most materials are assigned to their respective objects, and the topology for the vehicle itself works. What needs to be done is the tires, and then I can go over the model again to make sure it's accurate as possible.  Most of the heavy work was done in a week, and the recent fixes i've done had been this last weekend. Not much left to do other than finalizing and the tires.
