Q3 Benchmark ADHD in the Brain

Posted by Mekhya Johnson in Biology of the Human Body · Aziz · C on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at 8:50 am

During this quarter 3 benchmark project me and my group worked together on how ADHD affects the brain. We learned that ADHD affects functions in the cerebellum as well as the frontal lobe. ADHD influences a persons mood, attention and sleep. Here's a link to our presentation explaining a deeper meaning on what we learned. https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1ZClOXpsRuRKgsWGXZ1J2Xfkwi4P41w8M7LvrMLLqPrQ/edit?usp=sharing

Sleep and the Nervous System

Posted by Haajirah Nur in Biology of the Human Body · Aziz · C on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at 8:25 am

We learned about sleep and how it affects the nervous system. We learned that sleep can affect our mental and physical beings also. I have always known that sleep was important but I think it is helpful for me to learn all of the things that sleep can do to our bodies. My favorite part of this project was learning the information as a whole.

Stress

Posted by Bahiyah Corbin in Biology of the Human Body · Aziz · C on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at 8:24 am

I was able to learn a lot in this topic. I was able to relate because I experienced Stress in high school and now I know where it comes from biologically. Now that I know this I know how to control and hopefully stop it before it can affect me negatively for the long term. I really enjoyed doing this project. Something I wish I could do differently is add more to the poster. Overall, I'm satisfied with how our project turned out.

Human Anatomy Stress

We learned that stress can affect us not only mentally but physically also. This would really hurt us in the long run and I didn't know this was so vital to our health. My favorite part of this project was researching the info, because that's where I learned the most. I think this is information that everyone needs to know. I think if more people knew about this information more people would be cautious about letting their stress get too high.

Stress

For this benchmark my group and I focused on stress and how it affects certain parts of the body. I learned how it works and the cause of it. Also I learned that there are different types of stress such as acute and chronic stress which have there own meaning and substance. I think our group did very well working together and able to get everything done. https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1jj73tU5RiR6rHQFQHwDv3qIylhoMUtxrnFTxv_N9e_s/edit#slide=id.g54f35df2a1_1_15

Our project focuses on how obesity, one of the largest health issues in America today, effects the brain and homeostasis. Through the completion of this project I learned so much about how obesity impacts every major organ system and how damaging it can be to the nervous system.

Stress

For Q3 benchmark, my group and I focused on how does stress affect your body and solutions that can help stop it. From reading researching and working together, I learned that there are different types of stress you can be facing such as Chronic Stress or acute stress for example, they each have a meaning on Where they came from? Why you have it? And they each have their own solutions as well.

Human Brain x Epilepsy

Posted by Karrine Tucker in Biology of the Human Body · Aziz · C on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at 1:02 am

For this quarter's benchmark project my group and I decided to look into how epilepsy affects the brain. We found what happens to the brain in those with epilepsy and how homeostasis is tied into seizures. The occipital lobe of the brain is most effected by seizures. Using our "brain cap" we displayed the parts of the brain that are effected by seizures. I already knew about epilepsy but by doing this project I learned more about the science that causes epileptic seizures.

How Schizophrenia Affects the Brain

Posted by Jada Reynolds in Biology of the Human Body · Aziz · C on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at 12:03 am

I learned that schizophrenia is not a personality disorder but it sounds like "Schizotypal Personality Disorder" which has the "schizo" as a root word or prefix so I would like to assume they do similar things to the brain. I also learned that schizophrenia affects the spine. A lot of things I've done research on is hard to understand. There are so many terms that I don't understand nor recognize, but I managed, to get this done and the only thing I have to do is elaborate anagonist actions D2 receptors have.
