For our capstone we made a blog that is about surviving high school. We give student and also parents advice on how high school is. We asked some students who have been through high school to gives us their real life experience, so that we could post it on our blog so incoming students or current students can read about it. We also asked people to ask us questions, and we recorded ourselves answering the questions and also just talking about our ups and downs throughout high school. We thought that this would be a good topic to do because so many students who are entering into high school do not always know what to expect. It can be harder for some and easier for others, but we believe that your high school is experience is what you make of it. During your experience you will face a lot of hard times. Your grades might fail, friendship may die, and sometimes you start to mature and branch out. It is good to have a good support system, people that are willing to help you and push you when you need it. We have been through alot and have friends who have been through things different from us. We know a lot from being in some situations. High school is a fun place and staying active in activity is also a helpful source to staying connected with other people who are at your school.

Max Brown's Capstone

Posted by Max Brown in Capstone on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 7:36 am

Abstract:
Since this year is the last year of high school and attending the Science Leadership Academy at Beeber, I wanted my capstone to be something that would be more reflective of how my time here has changed me and how recent events in the world have influenced me to become who I am today. With that goal in mind, I decided to write poetry because it’s not something that I had done very seriously or outside of class before and because it would truly allow me to express how I feel and how I’ve changed over the past three years. So over the course of this school year, I wrote several poems, some in my Creative Writing and Philosophy classes, and some outside of school and compiled nine of them onto a website that I made that is titled ‘The Divide.’ As a result of completing this capstone, I feel like I’ve learned to become a person who is better at reflecting and understanding the consequences of my actions and why I feel the way I do at certain times. Furthermore, I think that I’ve become better at expressing myself, if I was a sophomore and I had the option to release the poems so that the rest of the school could see them, I would be extremely hesitant to do so, but now I’ve grown more comfortable with the idea of people seeing how I really feel. High school is a transformative time for many including myself and I hope that those who read my poems can both enjoy them, and understand me better as a person.

My website can be viewed at this link.

Paragraph:

For my project, I had decided to dive deeper into the true meaning of artistic concept in subconscious mind. All of the photos that I have decided to display below, were all photos that I wasn’t completely aware of what I had captured. I simply saw a moment and without determining whether or not it was a good shot, I took it. This kind of reaction is also present throughout all forms of artistic expression. When you’re drawing, you sketch something out without even paying attention to the fact that you are creating something and you are able to put the pieces together to create something grand. My project aims to display the reactiveness of the brain and as it relates to photography. I also aim to showcase the many things I have learned as photographer and present that to the world. Using photoshop, I have edited 10 of my pieces in various ways and had them printed on special kinds of paper. I then had them framed and submitted one into a contest to be displayed in Moore College Of Art And Design’s galleries in Philadelphia. I have worked really hard to produce these pieces and I hope others can heavily relate to my journey. I hope you enjoy the perspective of the photographs that I am presenting and I wish everyone luck through the long years we have ahead of us.
