Be Conscious of What You Post

Posted by Zakaa Cruse in TECH (INTRO TO DESIGN MULTIMEDIA) - Hertz - d2 on Sunday, November 6, 2016 at 10:39 pm

                          Think before you post

PR chief Justine  Sacco tweeted about going to South Africa and “hoping she doesn't get AIDS”. However, she offended people when she said of course she won’t, she’s white. This was retweeted thousands of  times . Her company, IAC, fired her for her poor judgment. I think they made the right call because that offended a lot of people and she had to get a consequence for it.

This could have affected other people view on going to  South Africa. Justine Sacco lack of control on social media ended up with her getting fired. Also, this could affect her from getting in other jobs for her racist tweet on social media. Advice that I can give her is “be smart when you post.” Also, think before you post and don’t post from your emotions keep it to yourself. Justine Sacco was unaware that once you post something it is permanent and it could never be taken down.

You should always be aware of what you post and make sure it’s appropriate. Advice that I can give to everyone is think about the consequences you will have. Also, never post anything that could jeopardise your job, friends, and family. In addition, never post anything that could offend someone. Always be conscious of what you post on social  media and be smart.

I say this because, say if you were going on vacation and you post something about you leaving for a certain amount of time that gives a thief time to rob your house. That’s just an example of being conscious of what you post. Therefore, Justine Sacco incident could be a lesson and an example of how serious and important it is on being aware of the consequences when you post things on social media.

Final Tech Project

Posted by Dashawn McIntosh-Inniss in TECH (INTRO TO DESIGN MULTIMEDIA) - Hertz - d2 on Monday, June 13, 2016 at 11:29 pm

The video both Talib and I made was a short learning video on the Vinyl cutter which we used for our 3rd quarter project. Using the Vinyl cutter was a little tricky because we both never used it before, but after a few lessons from Mrs. Hertz and Youtube videos we figured it all out. Now the benchmark for this quarter was based on making our own video of how to uses the Vinyl cutter which was easy. Both Talib and I created many stickers for our laptops, so just explaining how we did everything was another day on the job. We choose to make small thing first because we’re still rookies using the tool. Nevertheless I had a great time using the Vinyl cutter which I never knew we had till this year. I am planning to use it more it more next years and put big stickers all around the school.

Girl Garbage: Tinkercad Tutorial

Posted by Tierra Weary in TECH (INTRO TO DESIGN MULTIMEDIA) - Hertz - d2 on Monday, June 13, 2016 at 10:31 pm

For this project my design was a better way to keep the girls bathroom a cleaner, fresher, and safer place. The problem that occurs in the girls bathroom is the lack of feminine baskets.  My goal was to create waste bins and put them in each stall and create a clean fresh environment. I made my first outline/blueprint/model on Tinkercad, and thought that it would be a splendid idea to make a tutorial on how to use it.  I didn't really know how to work it at first which is also a reason I wanted to do a tutorial because it is actually a complex tech tool. Others may find it difficult as well and this could very much be a small bit of help. I felt like I learned a lot using this tool. From precise measurement, accurate angles and positioning, make me feel like I was actually building something or planning something like a real architect. I really enjoyed making this tutorial and hope that it could be beneficial to someone else.

How to download / make something for the 3D printer

Posted by Austin Heng in TECH (INTRO TO DESIGN MULTIMEDIA) - Hertz - d2 on Monday, June 13, 2016 at 8:38 pm

Making this video was fairly easy to do, after making many takes and trying to get an FLV file to convert to an mp4, I had finally got it working and my youtube video finally finished processing. I make youtube videos on my channel and doing this is not new to me. I know how these how to videos are, I have watched many tutorials on different things on a computer and this is something that I believe people should know about. I am a very fluent speaker and although my microphone might not be the best, I still got the video done.

Instructional Video

I used lucidpress . I decided to use lucidpress because it is an easy tool to use and I have used lucidpress for a couple projects this year. Throughout this video you will see me explaining how to sign up for lucid press and to link your email account to the website in order for you to create your project. You have the options to make a flyer, postcard or a blank document where you can create whatever you want with it. I chose to present a flyer and showed the different ways you can customize it to make it your own.

How To Create A Room On HomeStyler

Posted by Markeera McIntosh in TECH (INTRO TO DESIGN MULTIMEDIA) - Hertz - d2 on Monday, June 13, 2016 at 2:51 pm

This is a instructional video to teach someone how to create and furnish a room on homestyler.com. This video was assigned from my tech teacher Ms. Hertz. The goal of this video was to teach someone how to do something, and also to learn how to use a new tool called TechSmith Snagit. TechSmith Snagit is a tool that you can download on a chrome to record you screen. It s a very useful and handy tool. On the other hand Homestyler.com is a website where you can create floor plans for different things. Some of the things you might need to create a floor plan for is a house, restaurant, or a new business office. I learned many things creating this project that will help me in my future school career. This project took me longer then expected t complete because I had to redo he recording a few times. I also had trouble working with the new application which was TechSmith Snagit.

How To Make a Tv in Tinkercad

Posted by Devin Styles in TECH (INTRO TO DESIGN MULTIMEDIA) - Hertz - d2 on Sunday, June 12, 2016 at 1:18 pm

Tinkercad Instructional Video Script

Hi, welcome to my instructional video on how to make a small tv in tinkercad!

First you are going to go to the “geometric” category and click on the red box. Then, you’re going to shrink it down to 10 mm in height.

Next, you will stretch it out to about 80 mm in length. Now, widen the shape until you see 80 mm. Then, click the shape and take your mouse to color under “Inspector” at the top, now select black.

Now, here’s where it get’s a bit complicated. Now you will click the shape and press “ctrl” and press “c” at the same time, which will copy the shape you just made. Now press “ctrl” and “v”. This will paste the shape, and now you’ll have two of the same shapes.

Rotate the second shape until it sits at a “90 degree” angle. Now, drag the shape up so it overlaps the first shape. Then, press “ctrl” and “v”, another shape will appear, drag this to the side across from the overlapping shape.

Make sure it’s even with the shape across. Now, click the shape you just placed and press “ctrl c” then press “ctrl v”. Drag the shape between the two last two shapes you placed. Turn the shape until it’s at a 90 degree angle and then click color and change the shape to white. Inspect both sides of the standing black shapes to see if you see any white piercing through them. If so then click the white shape and hold shift, then drag the shape down until you see “75 mm”. Now, move the shape to the very edge of the middle shape lying beneath it.

Now turn you screen so you can see the back of all of these shapes, go over to the “geometric” column and click the box. Place the box between the black wall shapes.

Now hold shift and drag the shape up into you see “70 mm” Now turn your screen to the front of the shapes, and go over to the geometric column again, click “box”.

Bring the box in front of the shape, then drag it up until it is  “20 mm” off the ground. Then, stretch the shape length to about “25 mm” Now make the length “65 mm”, click color and make the shape black. Turn the screen to the side of the shapes, make sure you can’t see the top of the screen (white shape) from that angle, now turn the screen back to the center. You now have a tv!

Reflection:

For my project I chose to create a TV in tinkercad. I'm not very experienced in tinkercad. I thought it would make sense to do my last project using tinkercad to get more experience out of it. It's pretty simple to use as long as you have the basics down. You also need to know what keys do what. You need to know where to find the shape you want. I used WeVideo to voice over on this clip. However, WeVideo wants money after a very short amount of time. I had to figure something out, and this was the outcome. I couldn't get the second half of the video due to WeVideo's money trap.

Just so you know I DO NOT recommend WeVideo it isn't very useful unless you're willing to spend money on it.

How to Use 5 iMovie Features

Posted by Hector Tapia in TECH (INTRO TO DESIGN MULTIMEDIA) - Hertz - d2 on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at 4:50 pm

When I was doing the screencasts for the video you have no idea how many times i messed up, and had to start all over. I had to use my mac computer, because for one the chrome book does not have iMovie, and second my chrome book is messed up. This makes things harder because I had to find a good app in the app store... that was free. Which can be rather difficult. Nonetheless I was able to find one. So when I finished with the screen casting I had to find a way to download the video it took, because this was an internet based app. This meant that I had to figure out how to download a screencast from online. I was able to figure it out after looking at sources from google for half an hour. The ironic part is that I edited the video with iMovie. This was a really good learning experience, because it was the first time I had ever done a screencast. I definitely think that I would use that tool again for a project.

Here is the link to my video on youtube just in case the code I embedded does not work:
