One Sweet Crystal

Art Project #2
Art Project #2
For my project, I drew a Crystal, or what was supposed to be a crystal... At the time that I had drawn this, I didn't realize that Crystals are straighter than I made mine, but I think that's a plus. My project's medium was a standard pencil and a few sketching pencils. My inspiration for drawing this was a time where I reflected on me as a person, and realized that a Crystal was something that could have represented me. Out of my newfound love for Crystals, I decided to draw one.

With that, here is my reflection:
  1. Describe your project
My project was a visualization of my thought of what a crystal looked like, which was initially supposed to be representation of my heart and personality that eventually became a procrastinated piece of uncertainty and struggle that reflected life at the time.

  2. What knowledge did you already have about the project before you started?
In terms of my medium, I’d known nothing and done nothing about painting. The most I could say was finger painting, but that’s it. In terms of what my project was, which was a Crystal, I have to say that I had known almost nothing about them and how they actually were. I have to credit Lamont (partially)  to the completion of my project for explaining the ins and outs of crystals (get it?) so that I could shade it well when I drew it.

  3. What new skill did you want to learn coming into the project?
I wanted to learn about tints and shades and about different the different types of brushes used in painting.

  4. Did you accomplish this goal?
I got a 50 out of 100. I never painted to learn about tints and shades but my research beforehand did help me learn about the types of brushes used in painting.

  5. How do you know you accomplished the goal? If you didn’t accomplish the goal, why do you think that is?
I know I accomplished the goal because I know what types of brushes Nigeria used while painting. I didn’t accomplish the goal of tints and shades because I never painted to experience them and how to really use them and know when to use them.

  6. What other skill(s) did you learn along the way?
I learned about how Crystals are made, shaped, grow, reflect light off of them, and are shaded.

  7. What are you most proud of in this project?
I’m most proud of the shape of my crystal. Although it contrasts from how crystals are actually shaped, it still impresses me and I think it looks pretty cool, regardless of critics views.

  8. What would you do differently if you had to do the project over again?

I would choose something entirely different, whereas crystals were just too much. I actually did look up crystals at home besides the proposal, the research and in class, and frankly, they suck to draw, so much. I really wish I’d just chose something else to draw ‘cause that was hell trying to understand.

**Quick note: what you're seeing here is a low-poly version of  the model it actually looks something like this ^

  1. Describe your project

My project was to finish a model of a Porsche 911 (1974).

  1. What knowledge did you already have about the project before you started?

Vehicular modelling techniques, and topology flow.

  1. What new skill did you want to learn coming into the project?

I wanted to learn a fast and effective way to model tires, and the method I found take seconds. The method I used before took an hour.

  1. Did you accomplish this goal?

Totally.

  1. How do you know you accomplished the goal? If you didn't accomplish the goal, why do you think that is?

I know I accomplished my goal because the model doesn't go overboard with vertices and the topology of the existing vertices are placed in a manner that doesn't disrupt the flow of the mesh.

  1. What other skill(s) did you learn along the way?

Using blueprints as a reference for scale, and lattice modelling.

  1. What are you most proud of in this project?

The topology, because that's what I spent most of my time fixing. Time not wasted of course - which is great.

  1. What would you do differently if you had to do the project over again?

Would probably just pick another car but that's probably because i'm sick of staring at this one.

My project is a MUG.  I design the MUG with symbol and words that only I can fully understand. I knew what was clay. I knew when you apply water it becomes more manageable. I wanted to learn how to make a MUG. I wanted to learn how to work with clay. I think I accomplished that goal. Firstly because I made a MUG not a perfect one but not an awful one either. I understand clay way better now. I think I accomplished the goal because I was able to make the MUG and learn new things about clay. I learn a lot of skills on how to work with clay. The pinching technique and the coil method. And I also learn when you let the clay to dry you can not add another part to it, because it will shattered. I’m most proud of the fact I didn’t give up even when it was challenging to work with clay. If I had this project over again I would have try to put the handle before the body of the MUG was dried.

  1. Describe your project

For my Quarter 2 Art Project I created a Minesion...a mansion created in Minecraft.

  1. What knowledge did you already have about the project before you started?

I have created mansions before in MInecraft but never to the scale that I did in this case.

  1. What new skill did you want to learn coming into the project?

Creating a new height at which I can build.

  1. Did you accomplish this goal?

Yes because as Syndrome says “...Its bigger, Its better…”

  1. How do you know you accomplished the goal? If you didn’t accomplish the goal, why do you think that is?

I know because 1 block is equal to 1 meter irl. The buildings I have made previously have been about 8 by 7 blocks and 4 blocks tall, rather than what I have done with this project where the building is 13 by 12 blocks and 15 blocks tall.

  1. What other skill(s) did you learn along the way?

Scaling practice.

  1. What are you most proud of in this project?

I am most proud of the amount of detail I put into it.

  1. What would you do differently if you had to do the project over again?

Worked even more on it.

  1. Describe your project

My project consisted of  canvas stitching for a model of my child.

  1. What knowledge did you already have about the project before you started?

I had done this project before when I was younger. I know that you have to stitch on an angle and you’re going to have to pull out plenty of yarn in order to accomplish pieces.

  1. What new skill did you want to learn coming into the project?

I learned that you can not be rough while pulling your yarn out. A lot of times I had knots with my yarn and this was because I was trying to make sure I had this project complete, so often times I was rushing and trying to move quickly.

  1. Did you accomplish this goal?

Yes, I accomplished this goal. I have a final and completed pretty project. I added her name as well.

  1. How do you know you accomplished the goal? If you didn't accomplish the goal, why do you think that is?
I keep getting compliments on my projects, so I know I did something well. I myself, am proud with my work. I am happy and like what I have created.

  2. What other skill(s) did you learn along the way?
I learned how to used the canvas as graph paper, because I wanted my bear to be symmetric on both sides. So, before I actually even started I had to label and use actually markings.

  3. What are you most proud of in this project?
I am most proud of how the actually bear came out. I did the bear by freehand and it still came out well. I didn't expect it to which made the project come over even better.

  4. What would you do differently if you had to do the project over again?

I would probably make her name a little bigger. I would also have started a little earlier. It took a long time to make it.

"DOODLE ART"

As an artist, I create art that speaks to me and others about the specific art that i’m working on. I don’t think i’m a very good artist but I try to get deep into my drawings and paintings so they can be as detailed as possible. My goals as an artist is try to make paintings or drawings that tells a story behind them. I love painting and drawing because it’s also a way that I can express myself on paper.

Part of my process before I begin my drawing was to research as much information about doodle art. I looked at different themes that artist have done so I can get and idea of what I wanted to do for doodle art. I came across an idea which was nature and peace. I drew the word peace in bubble letters and drew a peace symbol. For this project I used Crayola markers.

In conclusion, I enjoyed working on surrealism it was challenging.

Artist Statement

As an artist, I create art to demonstrate the meaning of self expression and freedom. I hope to achieve the gift of attracting someone to explore that art world, who doesn’t like art. My goal when creating art is to do something out of usual or express creativity. I started off thinking art was just for people who loved to draw, but art is for anyone who loves to create the unexpected like me!

Part of my process before I begin any of my art is to think about what I like and to research any type of art that fits this category. The techniques I utilize is if the art form matches a part of my identity.

My current piece I’ve just created is “Alicia Keys Pop Art.” I created the theme of the piece by I like Alicia Keys and how pop art favors a lot of famous people. I am attempting to show how Alicia Keys can be n pop art too without using a computer program system.I used shading with various color pencils to sharpen her features. I used markers to make certain parts of stick out. I chose to sketch the picture of her from her album cover “As I Am.” The color of her lips shows how fierce she is. I wanted to make the features and colors of her face dramatic.

As an artist, I try to just gather all my current emotions into a funky idea for an art piece.

Reflection

My project was involving the concept of pop art. When I researched pop art I found that many famous people are involved in it. I chose one of my favorite R&B artist Alicia Keys to do my pop art on. I chose a picture from her “As I Am” album cover.

The knowledge I have already have about the project before I started was pop art was sort of vintage and colored oddly. Also, pop art was in a lot of comic books. Pop art targets the face of a person more than the body.

I wanted to acquire skills on shading, outlining, create all different types of pop art, and creating sketches of people.

I did accomplish this goal.

I know I accomplished this goal because I shaded, outlined, and created a great sketch of a person.

Other skills I learned along the way was creating realistic eyes.

I’m most proud of how I actually sketched a real life person because it was hard for me throughout the project.

If I had to do the project over again I would probably pick another picture of Alicia Keys to sketch.

Art of Plate

My project is a simple small plate. I used paint to decorate the plate with two different colors. I also used some of the clay crafting materials to create an eye design in the center of the plate. I studied different tactics for crafting plates. I read about a tactic in which you create a long strand of clay. You then put the strand together to create a plate or a bowl.
I learned how to smooth out the clay so that there are no sharp divots. I feel like I was able to create a plate that was suitable for use. I made sure that I used the clay carefully and used the hardening of the clay to my advantage. I also made it big enough to use for small amounts of food. I also learned how clay hardens. I learned that it needs to be hardened in a special way, so that it doesn't shatter. I am proud that I was able to smooth out the clay, because that was the hardest part of the project. I would have made the plate a little bit bigger, because it won’t hold a lot of food as is.

Art still life project

art still life project
art still life project

  1. My project is a still life of a plant in a jar. What knowledge did you already have about the project before you started?I did a still life in your class last year. What new skill did you want to learn coming into the project?I wanted to learn how to observe more things and sketch them better. Did you accomplish this goal? I feel like i did and didn’t accomplish the goal. I observed and sketched the plant but the background takes away from that. How do you know you accomplished the goal? If you didn’t accomplish the goal, why do you think that is?I know I accomplished this goal because I sketched the plant to my standards, but i wanted that to be the main focus instead of the background. What other skill(s) did you learn along the way? Another skill I learned along the way is how to use size efficiency at it’s best. It sounds stupid, but i usually do everything the same way and I don’t change things that often. So I experimented with size ratios to see which I liked the best. The thing I’m most proud of for the project is my ability to change the sketch this over time the plant started to die so i had to change certain details. What would you do differently if you had to do the project over again?I would change the shade of the plant to make it bolder.

Art Project 2

My project was a painting on the shade in the art room. I knew that I needed to know how to blend the colors In and I Know That I needed to various colors and shapes. I wanted to learn how to blend better and make the colors go together. I believed that I accomplished my goal, but thats my opinion.
If you didn’t accomplish the goal, why do you think that is? I accomplished this goal because i mean sure the colors go with each other and you really can’t tell when the colors actually cross over to the next color.
I learned that there is different brushes you should use for different types of art that you want to accomplish like realism.
I most proud of finishing it before the due date. I wouldn't do anything differently. I think I did Great.
