My Quarter 1 Project
I take Media and Design and for this class, we did a project that consists of making a website. This isn’t my first time making a website I actually took this class twice so this was good for me because I was experienced. Instead of editing my current website I decided to start from scratch. In this new creation, I hoped for it to be better than the original. The original wasn't visually appealing so I decided to change it so my audience can see better, in addition to, having moving backgrounds. If you’re planning on making a website keep it simple because if you make your website too fancy people might not be able to concentrate on one thing. In the future, I hope to do art like drawl and use that in this class somehow.

What I created in my project, are my four pages. My home, about, project, and resume page. In my about page I have all important information about me. Then my project page is with just a couple of projects I did the year before. Lastly in my resume page, I added my work experience and some information about my education. What I did to complete my project was to find pictures with me and my friends, also find important projects that were enjoyable that I liked. What I learned is how to use my time wisely and how to be more organized. If I could do the project over again I would add more pages and try to use time wisely. I am inspired to do work more ethically.

Digital Portfolio
This is a Digital Portfolio where I can display information about me and showcase some of my best works. In completing this Digital Portfolio I had hoped that I would have created an easily accessible, professional platform in which I could represent myself to the world. This is precisely what I have achieved. In order to build a successful website, I first had to choose the best website creator for me. My Weebly website showcases all the necessary features. The process of creation for my website consisted of, using the elements available and writing brief explanations about myself and my work. An obstacle I encountered in completing my project was having to switch websites in the middle of the project. The Wordpress format wasn't working for me. But that was easily resolved. However, a success was the ease of revising my website because I was happy with the original design. One thing I have learned was how to write a resume.
Although this project taught me a lot, I cannot say that I am an expert. One thing I learned about myself was that I have an abundance of photos, none of them seem to be professional though. If I were to do this again, I would probably make sure I took better photos and spent time gathering information on myself to see what it is I did because I feel that my resume lacks substance. That would have to be my advice to others completing this project. Find substance. It’s hard to create a website if you have nothing to put on it. This project inspired me to complete more projects so I can put them in my website. I feel as if in this project, the message dictated the medium. A website was the best way that I could express myself and have it so that it is easily accessible to the world.

Portrait Project
The materials I used in my work were mostly pencil and color pencil. I used pastels to whiten the clouds and color in the heart and the rose to show emphasis on the colors I used. With the same color used to color in each different object in my portrait, I darkly outlined the object in color pencil to make it “pop” more. The reason I did this was because color pencil did not bring out the image how I wanted, however I had to use the color pencils because there are very fine lines and details that would not be correctly shown through another material. In my previous work I was content on only using pencil for my drawing because I felt that the details would be shown way better this way. In my current work I used more color to create better imagery of the story and meaning behind the drawings.
The first step I took into creating my portrait was listing out what I wanted to show or represent in my drawing that has an impact in my life. Next I sketched out how I would want to represent these things through my portrait. After this I drew a box based on the required measurements the portrait had to be on and I started to sketch my portrait. I started off my drawing the side image of my face then drawing the hijab. This took a few trials because I wanted to show every detail with the scarf. Then I started to draw the other objects in my portrait such as the track, then the heart, next the skyline and the rose. The clouds came after the rose and then finally the eye. All the white spots in my portrait was filled in with a gray color pencil. There is no particular Artist, which I know of, that inspired my work or does art similar to mine.
A technique that is important in my work is my use of outlining. For each of my drawings I darkly outlined the shape do bring every detail of my portrait. I used this for every part of the drawing to bring more definition to the objects. I am most proud of my ability to express the many aspects of my life, and give them meaning through my use of colors. If I could change one thing, it would be to make more use of the materials our class has to offer. From this project I learned how to bring more life to my work through my techniques and color use.
My Q1 Artist Statment 2017
I based my artwork off the show Rick and Morty so I can create a depiction of it from my point of view. I enjoy watching the show and it would make sense for me to draw about something I dislike. I used a small amount of materials: colored pencils to color in most of my picture, white tempera paint to lighten up any colors I felt were too dark, and a black sharpie to even out the darkness of the lines. I think this work has no correlation to my previous work except for the fact that t includes things that I like. In freshman year, I has drawn a picture of a room full of food and I love food so much. I had never drawn pictures of people before so that was something new for me. I think this picture was a fail. I don’t like the outcome of it very much because it could’ve been way better. I wish the pencil lines hadn’t smeared because it would look way cleaner I also wish I got a thinner sharpie because those lines are very thick and I wish I took more time trying to get straighter lines. Rick’s eye is a little bit off, he looks like a Simpson. His hand is very small and so is his portal gun. My inspiration comes from the love of this show and the animators and artist(s) who drew him. I’m most proud of the attempt. I want to say I tried my best but if I did, it would have been better. I would spend less time on paint testing and more time on actually drawing and painting because I didn’t even end up using any other paint color but white.
Self Portrait
I drew a picture of my inner grandmother. I drew this because I was really close with my grandma when I was younger. They called me her and her twin sister (my great aunt) triplets because we all looked exactly alike. They even put her name (Verlene) as my middle name because they knew she was going to love me dearly when I was born. I remember going over her house when I was younger and she would feed me my favorite food, mashed potatoes and chicken and give me red wine and me, her and my grandpa would sit and watch scary movies together. Unfortunately she died in 2007 of a heart disease.
In the picture I included an old lady face with no wrinkles. I included no wrinkles because she didn’t have any wrinkles, she died when she was 50 which is very young. I included her with big lips with green lipstick because green represents life, growth and harmony and I felt like this was apart of her personality. I feel as though she will live on forever in me, she is apart of me forever. She was always happy and positive no matter what. She always saw the good in situations and the good in people. I made her with dimples because both her and I have really deep dimples, it is one of our best assets. Last but not least I created her with a lot of curly hair. My grandma had a buzz cut but she always wore curly wigs to church every sunday. I didn’t want to make her with a short cut because I always felt like that didn’t match her personality. She is fun and spontaneous. Because of me, My grandma with live forever.
The tools I used to create my work of art was colored pencils. I used colored pencils because it had all the colors that I wanted to incorporate into my artwork. When I colored my picture I made sure all the colors were vividly shown, I colored the lips and dark as possible so that it can pop out. I also learned while making the curls that the harder you press on the pencil the more defined the curls will be.
I am most proud that I was able to not just draw this picture, but bring it to life and tell a story through it. I would say though that if I had to change one thing, I probably would have tried harder to make her eyes even and make it look like she has a body at the bottom. To finish this off I just want to say that drawing this picture have brought back so many memories and I learned to always cherish your loved ones while you still have them with you because tomorrow isn’t promised for anyone.

Taneeja's Q1 Portrait Project
I created my artwork to portray the idea of connection and family. I love my family and we are so huge. My grandma had six children which started it all. She had four boys and two girls. Later on, my grandpa had four more boys which made ten children. This made two girls and eight boys. Which gets me to the idea of my artwork. Since I have a lot of uncles and all of them are very talented I wanted to bring them to light.
By looking at my drawing you can see different activities and jobs, while it still being colorful, vibrant and meaningful. You can see the reasons why they should be shouted out. In my drawing I put a bus because one of my uncles drive the bus for Septa, another is an artist, loves to sing and listen to music, one is a personal trainer, and another is in the NFL and plays for the Cleveland Browns. I chose to put their talents as a symbol of them and their worth. They all supported me since the day I was born and I wanted to show them that I appreciate them and everything they did and still do for me. The tools I used were pencils, color pencils, and pen. I used the pencils to draw out my portrait, then I took the black color pencil and traced the outline of my drawing. After I outlined everything I started using color, then I used the pen for the writing on my shirt since it was smaller lines. Lastly, I used a yellow color pencil to create a faded look across myself so everyone can see the main point. This relates to previous work because every time I do work I do it with a passion and I wouldn’t have this passion without the love of my family (uncles). The artist that inspired my work is Oskar Kokoschka https://alchetron.com/Oskar-Kokoschka-1270399-W. Certain techniques are important because as I started to color my body in yellow to bring it out, I notice that the technique of fading made it look neater. The technique| of neatness and accurate measurements are always good skills.

Media Design Website Project
In Media Design class for our Q1 project, we had to create a portfolio website. My portfolio website has a white background with purple and black writing. I wanted the project to show the type person I am. My writing font is fun and different and I want my audience to know that’s me. My goals for the project was to tell you who I am, tell you what I like and what I’m interested in. my process i took was fairly simple, first I want to add pictures, I wanted to show people me as a baby to now. I think I typed a small paragraph about myself so they can know me a little bit. I talked about my hobbies, the kind of person I am, my age, grade, school and my birthday. The failures I have is that I'm not very good at building a website, I wish I could've made it more creative. The tips I would give others would be to show who you are, not what you think someone else wants to see. This project inspired me to be true to myself and the type of person I am, to let anyones opinions sway me to be someone different. Also to always love myself. The one thing I would do different would be to get a different type of layout. I would’ve picked something more professional and classy, something that reflects me.
