Internet Survival Guide

1st slide: It’s just the cover page .
2nd slide :In this slide show we will talking about the impact of internet on communication, immediacy, permanence, lack of control,managing/protecting identity, my thoughts on “does the internet have rules?”,cyberbullying, tips, and advice.
3rd slide: The internet has changed communication because it has made it faster and more efficient. People are able to get and share information easier. Also talk to people from all across the world.
4th slide: Immediacy means instantly. Right after you press enter, your post will be sent off into the abyss that is called the internet.
5th slide: Permanence means it’s there forever ; eternal. Pertaining to the internet, everything you post online is there forever. It is never really,  “deleted”.
6th slide: Lack of control means that you can’t contain where your post will end up at after you press “post”.
7th slide :They affect our online identities/lives because it can lead to people doing stuff they might not usually do. Immediacy doesn’t give you enough time to think about your post. Permanence: Once it’s posted, it’s there forever. Lack of control: People will post and repost it. So even after it is deleted there is still a chance it’s not gone completely.
8th slide : They affect our offline identities/lives because they make someone lose their jobs over a stupid tweet or facebook post. It could really affect how people perceive them. They could lose everything because of one mistake. Immediacy affects offline because that  quick and erratic post could have been detrimental to business and relationships. Permanence affects a person offline because the posts can now be seen in their “permanent” reputation on the internet  even after deletion. Lack of control  affects your offline life because you can no longer control who see it. Potential bosses, peers, family, and even strangers will see the ignorant post/mistake you made.
9th slide: Two ways you can manage and protect your identity are by consistently checking to see if you are being impersonated and make sure to contact the website when you do. Report bullies/trolls and never post personal information.
10th slide: No, the internet does not have rules because people wouldn’t be able to do the things do.

For example, Donald trump's tweets. They are racist, ignorant, and sexist yet he hasn’t been punished for it. Wouldn’t his tweets count as libel because his words have messed up the reputation of blacks, gays, and women.

11th slide: Cyberbullying is harassing( impersonating, sharing other’s personal stuff, and etc) and verbally abusing someone on the internet/ social media .

12th slide: One kind of cyberbullying is shaming. Its when a person repost or post someone else’s mistakes to make them feel bad.

Another kind is outing. Outing is when you post someone’s personal information.

These are considered cyberbullying because these can cause someone to feel bad about themselves. They can also put people in danger.
13th slide:
My advice for victims is dont let what bullies do get to you because you will never get over it if you do. Just try to block their comments and insults out of your head. You could always block and report them.

14th slide : My advice for bullies is stop being jerks . How would you feel if you were the victim? Just mind your buisness if you dislike something/someone because the same things you do to others you would hate to see happen to you.

15th slide:My advice for bystanders don’t just watch the bully harass the victim, help them. Report the bully and let the website know what the bully has been doing. Also don’t try to jump in because you’ll add fuel to the flame. You’ll just make the bully happy but entertaining him/her.

16th slide: Tip 1: think about what you post first

Tip 2 : Never post personal information

Tip 3: Walk away from trolls

Tip 4 : Report when you see cyberbullying

Tip 5 : Don’t share passwords

  7. Your Top 5 tips for using the Internet

  1. Immediacy- Bringing involving someone into a situation. Tagging someone on a Instagram picture that deals with a argument.

Permanence- Something Unchangeable. A picture that is not able to be photoshopped.

Lack Of Control- Certain things you don’t have control over, and it starts to spread, and become more popular, while you’re not able to do anything.

2.For Immediacy you can put your accounts on private so that you're asked if you can be tagged in pictures, or you can be able to ask that person to untag you out of that picture.

Permanence, some ways you should able to avoid this is to not post to much, or you can have your account of private so people won’t be able to see your pictures.

Lack Of Control is something hard to fix, but you can always try your best to reason out with that person to stop this trend that you don’t like.

3. The Internet does have rules, and on certain website there are consequences if you break these rules, but people always break the rules in the internet, and it may seem like we don’t have rules in the internet.

4. Cyber Bullying is harassment on a technical device.

5. Trolling- Offensive insults to accurately annoy someone, or make people mad.

Impersonation- To act as someone else, and ruin their reputation.

6. One kind of Cyberbullying is Impersonation. Impersonation is taking someone’s name, and trying to ruin their reputation.

7.  Bully Advice- Don’t take your personal problems out on other people, it’s just going to come back around and kick you harder than you kicked someone else.

Victim Advice- If it occurs more than once, try sticking up for yourself. Tell the bully off. If they don’t take you seriously, tell an adult, your parents are the best option.

Bystanders- Don’t just watch someone get bullied. Go over and help defend the victim.

Internet Survival Guide

Slide 2: The internet has changed the communication by making it more easier to talk to someone, rules and freedom have involved and basically anyone can contact another person from the internet. For an example people can access the internet anywhere and talk or chat with a random person or someone they know.

Slide 3: Immediacy is getting yourself in an involvement of something or an event that you do or do not have apart of.On the internet you are able to be apart of many things like chats, video calls, hangouts and more to contact people and be apart of something.Permanence is the freedom you have to post but it can basically be there for ever for everyone to see if someone takes a screenshot or if you cant remove it.Lack of control is basically apart of this, you have to know what your posting and make sure it doesnt make yourself look bad.

Slide 5: You can protect your identity by providing a fake name and not your real age to keep your real identity out the way.If your reputation online is bad and people know your real identity than they will know the person you are and these bad things can spread in a negative way.

Slide 6:I would say that the internet does have rules but not many people follow them because theres alot of freedom also with the internet. If someone post something mean but others like it the person will be known for it but people will still treat him good if he does bad things. So I would say that theres rules but people dont follow them without anything bad happening to them from it.

Slide 7: Cyberbullying is basically internet bullying that affects people online, doing these bad things can really hurt someone online and reports can be made.So cyberbullying can go by as mean comments, trolling and more bad things to make another person angry towards you by these things.

Slide 8:Trolling -Making someone think you are something to make them feel stupid in a way to put them in laughter

Slide 5: Fake profiles-Making people think you are someone else and pretending to be them and setting a bad example of them towards others.

Slide 8:I think bullies should not make fun of others online because these things arent nice and reports counts, also its sometimes a state lawVictims should tell others for help and keep it to there selves to help it not spread more negative vibes,
Slide 9:Sex harrasment goes towards children, teens and even adults it mainly is from the internet and things dealing with sex is all over the internet. This maybe makes kids wanna have sex or offered sex

the internet created a new way to communicate from far distances. For example 2,000 years ago the early Romans used pigeon post to communicate and that took awhile for the reciever, and also in the 1820s it took 15 hours for someone to receive a message through mail. The internet paved the way of instant communication changing it from a slow process to an instant process.

Slide 2&3

Immediacy

  • In other words it means Instantaneous. This pertains to the internet by having something out on the internet without time to take it down or reconsider your actions if necessary.

  •    It affects our online identities by having something being uploaded fast that you didn't want to be uploaded fast. And when it's uploaded instantaneously our offline identities can suffer from anyone being able to see it as soon as it was uploaded, so right after it happened

Permanence

  • When something is on the internet or stays on the internet forever. This pertains to the internet by having the internet be used as a vessel to permanently keep a type of file, virus, picture, etc on the internet

  • Permanence affects your online life by having the content you post, whether good or bad, be permanent. It affects your offline life by having somebody look at bad content that's on the internet forever.

Lack of control

  • Lack of control means having no control over what happens to the things you do on the internet after you do them. This pertains to the internet by having no control over criticism or vandalism on the online stuff you did

  • Lack of control affects your online life by having someone frame you for something you down do by editing your videos to make you say stuff you didn't (for example). It affects your offline life by having other people think bad about you because of the re-wording or something else that you have no control over

Slide 4

one way you could do that is to not put your address and real name out there for the public/ internet to use

Another way you could do that is to watch what you do on the internet and be cautious of what you upload

Slide 5

The internet does not have rules, but the things you do on the internet can be illegal.

One can not have ruled but still do illegal things for example, there is no rule about doing your homework but it is illegal to burn the homework in class/ arson.

7- definition of immediacy and lack of control
8- why permanence is important
9- why each tip may help your experience on the internet
  1. The internet has changed communication in many ways as in people use it to say things that they may not say in person to one another. Things such as admitting certain feelings that they might not have the courage to say in person.

  1. Immediacy can affect our online identity by making it easy to realize how fast something can get out into the world. Along with the consequence of trying to delete it knowing that whatever was posted could have been copied in just a few seconds by someone unknown. This immediacy can affect a person in real life by having something that got loose from their hands on the internet and it can create conversation outside of the internet. Permanence can affect your online identity by letting a person post something and then afterwards having them realize that what was posted can nevern be deleted. Having it reposted can affect a person’s outside life also.

3. One way that a person could actively manage and protect their identity is by downloading an app that will help their identity from getting discovered. Another way is by not putting your real information out on the internet in the first place.

4. Yes i think the internet has rules. For example, if someone had posted something like pornography, they would immediately get locked in jail for participating while knowing it was against the law.

5. Cyberbullying is when a person is getting bullied by any resource online.

6. One kind of cyberbullying is called sexual harassment. Sexual harassment is a type of bullying because it is making a person feel uncomfortable online due to what one’s actions are towards them. Another type of cyberbullying is false reports. False reports may be seen as cyber bullying because of the outcome that it may have on other people when being used.

7. My advice to victims of being bullied is to never fight back unless it’s physical. Otherwise it’s not worth listening to. My advice to bystanders of bullying is to try and stand up for the victim because even if u try and stay as far away as possible from the commotion, it could make its way to you. And at that time, you would want someone to stick up for you the same way you did not for them.

8. 1- Watch what you post before you post it.
2- Never give in your real information.

3- Do not cyberbully others in any way.

4- Look for scam artists and do not fall for their cons.
