I think they can only create more awareness.

This article is about how Norway DNB sold its assets for the pipeline. DNB is the largest bank in Norway and they sold 3 million dollars of assets. The bank is thinking about getting rid of its loans for the pipeline. The loans are 10 percent of the pipeline’s construction. This DNB is not connected to the DNB in Pennsylvania, DNB first. DNB first is not involved in the Dakota Access Pipeline.

The article also states. It is possible the pipeline’s might be cancelled or at least renegotiated because they wouldn’t meet the deadline of January 1, 2017. There is still hope for the fight against the DAPL.  

This is wonderful. This shows that if you actually have a voice that matters. All the hashtags and mentions on social media has given the DAPL problem more recognition and this is a result of it. This will most likely set off a chain of events with other banks and loans given to the company to build the pipeline.

People have been using social media to spread what's happening in ND by posting their creative arts like poetry, drawings, photos of what's happening. Also people are using hashtags such as  #NoDAPL, #RezpectOurWater

The first hashtag is a play on word with the abbreviations of North Dakota and no pipeline. The second is a mash up of reservation and respect. Even though reservation doesn't have a “Z” in it the word, the s in it somewhat sounds like a Z so it falls under the radar.

These methods have been very effective because more people are aware of the situation which leads to more people helping the cause.

• What is environmental justice and role does social media play in fight environmental justice?

Environmental justice is just behavior towards the environment by all people. Social media is a easier way to access cases of environmental justice not being upheld.

More communication between all people so that no one has to suffer in dark while other things are dominant in our minds.

• The methods of action of these protestors no matter what they do are not as effective as they need them to be because the government is still making it ok for them to have their land taken away. Yet that won’t stop the protesters because they do have methods that are effective like marching and protesting that is bringing awareness but it’s not working.

• Environmental justice is justice for our environment and these protestors are trying to get justice for their water and their land, that could easily be tainted with oil and gas.

• What I think can improve their strategy is having more lawyers and judges take a look at the case making sure that it is unconstitutional so that the government cannot take their land from them.

1st Article

My Summary

The article that I am reading is about the North Dakota Pipeline protesters. The protesters that are protesting the Pipeline that is going through the sioux tribe’s land others land and water put their resources in  danger. The article is titled “North Dakota Pipeline: Protesters vow to stand ground.” The protesters of this Dakota Pipeline  their land  and rights to this land is so important even though they were told to evacuate. The Standing Rock Sioux tribal Chairman Dave Archambault said that the protesters “  would continue even though protesters have been ordered to vacate an area where they have set up camp by next Monday.” They decided to stay and continue to protest against this 3.7million dollar pipeline. To protest this pipeline that would move almost 500, 000 barrels of crude oil across four states through the missouri river. This pipeline would actually transport 470,000 barrels of crude oil across four states every day. The article continues with the Us Army Corps warned the activists and protesters that they coud risk arrest if they continue. But the officials trying to get the protesters away from the \ building do not have plans to force the protesters and activist out. Yet the protesters have something else to worry about besides the Us troops and the government. There is the weather issue has forced North Dakota Governor Jack Dalrymple to order the protesters to clear out immediately because of the harsh weather conditions. Which added to the information the article stated about the protesters being told to evacuate but didn’t they even opposed the harsh weather along with the government. The article ends with more information about the two sides of the story to the protest, where the pipeline will go. The pipeline is expected to stretch across four states as shown and stated in the article. Although the Morton County police department have tried to evacuate the protesters who have been gotten help and support from activist. However the police state that the protesters have not been protesting peacefully. While the protesters argue that they have been trying to get forced out of their land based on trespassing and this is unfair because the pipeline is expected to got through the Indian Reservation.

My Reaction

When I think about how strong these protesters and activist are. I think that we all can learn from them and learn from their example. These people understand what’s important. They are not just standing by and letting the pipeline happen. These protester oppose the harsh weather and the government along with the energy transfer companies and their allies. The protesters and activist have new hope everyday. Thanks to their wonderful awareness and protests. Their outstanding respect and defense for the environmental is what we should all strive to be just like.

2nd Article

My Summary

So I read this article about the money or assets behind the North Dakota Pipeline. This is actually my second article being as though I  previously made a different summary and reaction to a different article you will find that above. However, my beloved second article which is about the assets of The North Dakota Pipeline being sold. It’s called “Norway's Largest Bank Sells Assets in Dakota Access Pipeline Company.” This article tells the reader that there is great hope for the land of the sioux tribe. The article when you summed up really states that there is something else standing in the way of the completion and operation of the Dakota Pipeline. The bank in Norway the D.N.B.  does not want to be with the companies behind the Dakota Pipeline. That’s why they are considering terminating three separate loans that the bank has made for financing the pipeline these are worth millions. Even though these loans are only 10% of the pipelines construction the companies would still need to get that money from somewhere else. The article continues  with hope for the protesters and activist because the Energy transfers companies is almost certain to miss their deadline. This deadline set for january first could definitely affect their future involvement. With their employers and colleagues that they are transferring oil and gas to. If they miss the deadline then they lose the people to buy the oil and gas. A direct quote that makes it possible is "loss of shippers to the project could effectively result in project cancellation."

My Reaction

My reaction to this article is very positive. Very positive for the people that have been working so hard so that this pipeline does not happen. I understand why the bank came to their sense. When you understand what’s happening and what you're becoming apart of it reflected on your character. The bank is thinking about canceling the pipeline’s assets and that it good. That means all the hard work that the activist and protester are doing is paying off. All of the marches, and nonviolent protest are raising awareness  for the respect of the sioux tribe land. I think that the possibility that the energy transfer companies could miss their deadlines with the people that are suppose to buy the oil and gas is great. It’s great for the people who have to deal with the consequences of the oil and gas spills. Also in addition to this the animals who will be affected.

• Seeing as that a big shot foreign company just divested from DAPL, what would you like to tell the American people to do?

• I would like to tell the American people to not let History repeat itself to make sure that we all join the protesters and activist. No matter how we contribute either physical protest like our extra credit assignment or assignments like this that help bring awareness to the NDPP.

• can the American people and government create an environmentally just America?

• I believe that we could create an Environmentally just America if we took care of our planet by allowing our natural resources not be harmed because of profit. To do this we must let natural resources stay natural and not get contaminated to stop the pipelines, dumping food waste, any and everything that makes our planet environmentally unjust.

• Be specific and explain why your suggestion is helpful in creating a just society.

• My suggestions until the end was very specific on how we can make our america more environmentally just, to cut back on greenhouse gases, methane, cars, pollution, and many more examples of being environmentally unjust to our planet.

Standing Rock and Dakota Access Pipeline

There are environmental activists groups that are forming on twitter. On twitter the main hashtag that is used and most popular are #DAPL which stands for “Dakota Access Pipeline.” Considering how long this has been going on, the permit for the destruction has been denied. This means that work can no longer proceed. This is good and the way the people came together was effective because they were able to resist the moves that were about to be made. Environmental justice is an involvement of different people to get together and broaden the challenges that the environment faces everyday because of human interaction. Social media is obviously a whole other world, a bigger world. Using that as a resource, people can easily come together electronically and pinpoint the actions that are affecting the world. Also, word is spread more easily and effectively over the internet. I think if the government was more involved, or the news was more involved things would be a lot more serious. The more serious things are, the more attention is drawn to it.

The article “Norway’s Largest Bank Sells Assets in Dakota Access Pipeline Company”, is an article that talks about how DNB is in favor of the North Dakota Access Pipeline Company. Over 3.8 billion in assets to help towards the project.

• After reading the article, I think that Americans need to see the larger problem. Since a foreign company has invested in DAPL, nothing is sure enough to happen or get better. As people that live and grow in this country, I feel as though we need to fight and make sure things are okay and maybe even take charge of it for ourselves. More people should get involved and spread the word about what is going on so people have an idea of what could happen.

Summary of Article

The largest bank in Norway sold all of their assets so that can so that the North Dakota Pipeline can have nothing to do with other banks that they took money from. It also explains how Pennsylvania is not involved in the Situation. There are possibilities of them losing contracts with other companies if it is not done by a certain due date. It really just talk about the ways in which the Pipeline can be affected if is not done on time such as renegotiating contracts.

.I would like to tell the american people that they have take a stand against the government. They can make sure that everyone does their part in protecting the environment. . Make sure that they respect the place they live as a clean and safe planet and making sure help other people make the same great decision

• When you are Creating, Learning, and Leading you’re collaborating with your friends, and classmates you don’t even talk to in the class. It’s also when you go up and ask Ms. Bentum for help on an assignment even though she might tell you to go ask someone else. It’s when you do more than what was required for you to create. It’s when you’re given a play to do by Ms. Bentum and you go up and remember the lines, but you make it funny. Why do you make this funny, because you want to keep that audience interested even though that wasn’t a requirement. Creativity while learning is exceeding expectations and showing everybody what you can do such as teachers, bosses, classmates, and Etc.

Creativity while learning…

Creativity while learning is the key to success. Nothing slows you down and you don’t have boundaries. The good thing is that you can express yourself. The bad thing, well, there is no bad thing. You might have an time to write what you want to write, like I'm doing right now, but you will get the time to do it. You might not have imagination to just express yourself but, you can figure something out. We all at some point in time learned something from a book, and we used that information to help us in some type of way. But have you ever used your imagination to express yourself? To help you do something in school? The answer might be yes, but not frequently. The answer could be yes, but this time you could be someone who always used your imagination in school to accomplish things. If you're someone who doesn’t use your imagination, or you're someone who barely uses imagination, start to use it. It helps when you don’t have an idea for a homework assignment, or even for an project. Your imagination will greatly affect your creativity. You might say that you don’t have imagination. Everyone has some type of imagination. Even the slightest of imagination helps your creativity.

Creativity while learning makes me more excited to learn. When we learn, write, and do projects in learning environments, creativity is a must. It pushes most people into having excitement to learn. Without a learning environment that includes creativity, learning tends to get really boring. Think about it, if you were sitting in a boring classroom with no color, being given tedious school work, and you were being taught by a teacher with a monotone voice, your learning experience wouldn’t be so fun and interesting. You wouldn’t enjoy learning, and you would dread being in that specific class. This is because the learning environment lacks creativity.

Creativity while learning… is expressing your thoughts and ideas of your own mindset of how you interpret life. To me creativity while learning is like revealing your hidden imagination. Expressing is a huge deal with creativity pieces. Individuals with extraordinary personalities have outstanding ideas; brainstorms about anything. They can might expand their own way of existing. Although, others imagination can reflect on how they create new inventions. Creativity while learning helps  because when asked even a simple question, you can give your own explanation of how things interact. Also you can get to hear other people responses of how they view things and their own perspective.  Creativity while doing anything also aids you to see how your own self can view things and what you believe is more imperative to acknowledge because now you can exhibit your very own skills to people. Most of  the time people express what they enjoy during creativity lessons. how they ponder is a great way to share how you feel.

Creativity while learning makes me a person of knowledge, stress, and art. I find myself a very adventurous. I am driven to exceed and explore all the aspects of learning. When you learn your acquiring knowledge you may not know. So being educated in the sense of something I love makes me feel at home. Not the typical paper pen. Digging deeper to see what truly can be conquered inside. Without my creativity I would be plain. Disgusting right. However, just because being creative is something I have a passion for doesn’t mean I don’t lose my mind. When it comes to school I feel myself under distress when I'm time crunched with work that isn’t just something that can be typed. Even with stress I still love it. O boy I love exploring something I find exotic. It makes me who I am today. A African American who’s inspired by the innovators of my generation. Makes more with less.
