Only 1!~ Dejah Watts

The meaning of this work is to be original. I am the only one who put their street art in the place that it's at. It makes even more special than it already is.

What inspired my work was how Terri used someone else's work as his own. I didn't want to do that. I wanted to be as original as possible.

I thought the place I put it wouldn't draw that much attention, but when it did, I would make people say that it was different.

I now look at art as something that is sacred to the artist. Their art is a symbol of them, no matter where it is present or where it's placed.

I now look at art in the city and see the struggle of the artist that put it there. I see the different ways the artist had to get the art to where it is. I also imagine what the artist was thinking when it ame to getting the painting or drawing noticed.

The meaning of the art work that I created is that there is always going to be ups and downs but to always stay positive. I was inspired to do this art work so if anyone is having a bad day they are able to look at my artwork to see that their is always good in no matter what is going on in your life.  I choose to put my artwork on my locker because I go to my locker every morning and at the end of the day and it will remind me that I should always stay positive. This project did change my perception of Art because it allowed me to see how much work actually goes to creating something with great meaning. This also change my perception of Art when I travel around the city because many people risk their lives to create artwork that represents 'something deeper than just graffiti.

Street Art

The one who inspired my work was my late pet Chester. I created this artwork in memory because even though she was not with me for a long time i'll always remember her. The reason I chose this location is because our advisory is supposed to be our school home and our home is suppose to be something close to us. This project hasn't really changed my perception of art because art was something I always thought had some sort of meaning to it. This project changed my perception of Art as I travel around the city because now I know that it isn't just vandalism.

Street Art By Alex Bonner

The photo I created was just another way of me to reflect to my new personality when I enter to this school. My art work shows that i'm sleeping and not stressing over work, and find a way to manage things out. This art really didn't really affect me since I used to make art when I was younger. I pick the first door when we walk in because a lot of people will see it.

Art project by Rachel McCann

The meaning behind my artwork is something that people would not think it is deep, but to me it is. My artwork is something that my friends and I would draw everywhere. I started drawing this when I was seven years old and anywhere we hung out it was there. I missed the how easy life was then, which inspired my artwork for this project.  My location honestly is not the meaningful to me, I just picked a random spot. This project did not change my perception of art, the way I saw art before I took this class, is the way I see it now.  When I walk around I would take pictures of artwork I liked and post them on Facebook or somewhere else, this project didn't change my view on art because it was still this same.

The Labyrinth

The meaning of this art work is to get people thinking. I want them to interpret this picture in whatever way they'd like.

A few books that I read made me think of doing this.

I choose the location I put it in because I want it to be in a place that people only see in the corner of their eye, something that's there but isn't really noticeable. When they do see it I want them to be interested. That's why I put this art work where I put it.

This project didn't change my perception on Art much, if at all.

This project makes me want to notice more art work around the city. I know that Philadelphia has a lot of street art on walls and I see a lot of them, but I want to see them better if that makes sense. I notice them, but I never really see them.

Hallway Illusion

-The meaning of the work I have created is that "Not everything is what it seems."
-The basic concept of optical illusions inspired my work. Optical illusions are so cool to me. I look them up every now and then, and I think they are really cool.
-I chose the location I did because it was simple to re-create, and it was an easy piece to put into an optical illusion.
-My perception of art is that anything can be art. This project didn't change that perception. I still think art can be anything.
-My perception of art in the city is that it is still art. This project didn't change that perception. I still think art can be anything, including street art.

Street Art

  • The meaning of my art is for everybody to know the town the live in I want them to fell welcome to Philadelphia and love it just as I love it.
  • Well I wanted to make something that represented me so what not better to do then to put the town I live in.
  • I choose this location because everybody walks pass our counselor office so why not put it there where everybody will see it because I want everyone in the building to see it.
  • This project changed my perception of art because I just thought it was just art not something that means something or represented a special person or someone.
  • Now I will pay attention to art and look at it closely and admire the art they took their time to make and share.

Self respect

I created a woman wearing a t shirt that states "a mans opinion does not define you" the meaning of this drawing was to let other females know that a male or anyone whatever the gender is does not define who you are and confidence does not come within someone else's opinion but starts with you. I seen this picture on the internet and seen the same picture but I changed the quote to something I related to/liked. I hung my drawing in the hallway on a wall, I didn't pick this location for any specific reason I just wanted to make sure it was high enough to not touch and just be looked at so it didn't get ruined. This assignment changed my view on art by realizing that art can be anywhere and creating "art" is anything by someone who puts their hard work into something they created.

The meaning behind the art that I've created is that I really like my last name and everybody at this school calls me by my last name more than my first name. Nothing really inspired me I liked the way it looked so I drew it that way. The reason I chose the spot I chose is because I wanted to be the first thing you see leaving the third floor just because. My perception of art didn't change it still is the same. It has made me think of why the artist put it there and there's a certain reason why they did so.

The Final Curtain

The meaning of this piece of art is that life is stage and you perform.  This part is were the ending of that where you are done and ready to be by yourself affected by your thoughts and nobody else. I was inspired by what Senor Rosen Long said in Drama class,"The life is like a play and kind of scripted out, what are you going to do to change the script?" When this project came along this was the first thing I thought of and then this piece of art was born. I chose the second floor near the door heading to the lobby.  I chose this location because I was thinking that this is close to the auditorium at first but then I thought that it could serve a reminder to people that life is can be troublesome. I think this project changed my perception of art because people have different interpretations of things. You might be walking in the city and see a person face painted on the side of the building and think it has one meaning.  Someone else might find some other type of meaning in the face being there.  Before the project I thought street art was more  of a illegal thing but, now I think it is more of a free art show that gives inspiration.

;) Street Art

The meaning behind the work I created is how I see myself. This inspired me because I enjoyed drawing myself and letting others see how I see myself. I chose this location because people sign in at this spot everyday in the morning so they will see my work.  This project changed my perception of art because it taught me that art can come in many different forms and from many different people. This project changed my perception of Art as I travel around the city because now I know that everything I see has meaning behind the actual art and meaning behind why it was placed with it was place.

"1st Place" Street Art

The meaning to my art work is that when I played basketball, softball, and soccer my team and I came in first place at least 1 time, and it brings back good memories. What inspired my art is because I play all these sports, and when I think of them it brings back all the good things that happen with all my friends when we won the championship. I choose to put mine near where the trophies are near the main office because I thought my picture would look better if it was near a real trophy. This project changed my perspective on art because now I know that the spray paint on the bridges near my neighborhood is most likely there for a reason, and that it is art and isn't just vandalism. It changed my perspective of art as I travel around the world because art can come in all different forms, and if you travel the world somethings are considered art in some places that I wouldn't necessarily consider art. Now when I see those pieces of art I will think of it as art because art comes in different ways and forms.

The meaning of this piece of art I created is just to be yourself, don't be afraid to who you really are. I think just the simple fact that many kids/teens are trying to be somebody that they aren't is what inspire me to make this piece of art. My work is inspiring and telling people that loo k at it that it is okay to be yourself. I chose this location because it stood out to me and it was an empty wall so I decided to add my work to it so that the wall wouldn't be blank anymore. This project just showed me that art can be any form of expression. As I travel around the city I look closely for street art.

Street Art

The meaning of my work is that it was supposed to be 3D and mess with your mind. But as you can see I did no meet expectations. But I worked on it trying to make it 3D but did not come out as planned. But the meaning of my work was to mess with your mind with the 3D illusion.
What inspired my work was the other artist that draw 3D optical illusions etc. But seeing their work made me want to try making my own 3D work but it is going to take some times for me to meet does expectations.
I chose that location because I think that's a place where my art won't be bothered and also so people can see it.
This project changed the perception of Art because I did not see street work or paper being hung up with a drawing art, but now I do consider those things art.
Now I know that work I see around me is art.

" STORY OF MY LIFE "

The meaning of my artwork is that Some people are addicted to the streets and are adapted to the streets where as though it is the " Story of their life". I drew a street and like a hot-dog stand with the words Story of my life is written all through the paper. Life is on Streets. What inspired my work is people's feelings a couple art work pieces off of google. I chose to put my artwork up in the stairwell because I feel as though that where it is more commotion, movement, and people for my artwork to be seen and known. This project changed my perception of art because now I see art as any and everything. As I travel around the city everything I lay me eye on is considered ART.

"Me" Street Art

  • What is the meaning of the work you created?
  • The things in my street art are inspired by the way I am. There is a microphone and it represents that I like to sing. There are two hands that look like guns because I have trust issues. There is an eye that has fire and a cold heart in the middle with mascara smears and this represents how I am usually sad or angry or both at the same time.
  • What inspired your work?
  • My personality and feelings inspired my street art.
  • Why did you choose the location you chose?
  • I chose the hallway near Mr.Gray's room because that's where most people are.
  • How did this project change your perception of Art?
  • It didn't change my perception of art. I still love it the same way.
  • How did this project change your perception of Art you see as you travel around the city?
  • It didn't change I see it the same way.

street art

I drew this picture because i saw another drawing and was inspired to make a picture similar to it. I picked the location because its outside of my advisory. this project changed my perception of art around the city is that it isn't just graffiti, but people put thought and meaning into what they make and where they put it.

The meaning of my street art is that your life can be hard to look at if you don't know anything, but fining what you are really made of can be very valuable. My art was inspired by the works of M. C. Escher, a well known impossible object artist. The location I chose was to the left of the doors of the art room. I chose this because people can see it after art to be inspired. This project changed my perception of art by showing me the different genres of art and how this is done in rebellion. As I walk around the city now, after this project, I now know to appreciate the art around me.

If you want to see it, when you go outside art, go to the left, and you will see it to the left of a door.

Street Art

I the reason why I created the work is because I wanted to show people what represents me and who I am and what i like to do. I was inspired by my friends and myself to create my art work. I choose the location because I thought it was a great spot to put it. This project change my perspective by making me see everything my own way. Now when i see street art i see what others think the world looks like to them and the art work represents them.

Browan Gorilla: Street Art Project

The meaning of my artwork is pretty self explanatory, because the words on the art piece explain it. My work was inspired by Gary Rogers who does a series on Youtube called Skateline where he talks about skate related current events, and in one episode where he talks about Rowan Zorilla going pro and he calls him the "Frida Kahlo of skateboarding", because they look so alike. I chose the location I chose because nobody really looks at that wall. This project didn't really change my perception of art, but it did change the way I notice art around the city. I definitely notice and appreciate street art more than I did before.

Obey Homer Street Art Salim McCall-Davis

  • What is the meaning of the work you created? There is no real meaning of my work I just think that it looks nice.
  • What inspired your work? The Simpsons TV show and the obey artist inspired my work.
  • Why did you choose the location you chose? I chose the location because everyone walks past it and it is up high so that no one can touch it.
  • How did this project change your perception of Art? It did not change my perception of art.
  • How did this project change your perception of Art you see as you travel around the city? When I see artists street work I no longer see it as an act of jejune vandalism as much as another artists expression.

"Deadpool" Street Art

When you look at my drawing of Deadpool, you would think it is just a drawing of Deadpool. Well, that is exactly what it is. There isn't really a meaning. It just looks cool. What inspired me to draw it was......well, it's Deadpool. Who wouldn't be inspired to draw a walking tumor? The location I chose was the first bookcase next to Mr.Rosen-Long's room. I figured to put it right there so that when people get a book, they can see the beauty of Deadpool. I also put it right there because I was too lazy to walk around and look somewhere else. This project changed my perception of art because it showed that not art has to have meaning. It changed my perception of art around the city because it showed that you can turn even the dumbest stuff into amazing art.
