Mercury Poison PSA

Posted by Makyle Wyche in Environmental Science · Aziz · E on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 10:05 pm

This video is about mercury poison, and why people should be aware of it. Many people do not know the dangers that mercury poison has, and this video is a public service announcement to my peers who do not have an idea about what it is. It's a very important topic today, and it's affecting more and more of us by the day.

For this project, I was a large part of writing the script, and documenting how  the video should look. My group and I all played an important part in the creation of this project.

What we did well was look for vital information that most people could see as important. What we could have done better is add more quantity of content to the video.

The most meaningful part of the experience with creating this project was learning new facts about mercury poison that I had previously not known.

Light Pollution Q2 Benchmark

Our PSA speaks about the issues and importance behind light pollution. We raised awareness and explain how we can take action in decreasing this problem in our environment. Although light pollution is not talked about as much as air and water pollution , we decided to choose a very prevalent form of pollution that we believe society doesn't bring enough attention to.

I believe that we all played an equal part in the project. I was responsible for recording and contributing to the writing in the script.

I think we did well with working together in most moments but we could have managed our time a lot better.

The most meaningful part of the project was probably gaining the information that we were able to share in our PSA.

Q2 Benchmark: Light Pollution

In the following video, we are giving a public service announcement about light pollution. We explain exactly what it is, give examples, and make suggestions on how we can reduce its damage. I chose this topic because I was not sure about what it was. It is one of the least discussed forms of pollution. It was interesting to learn how simple structures, such as street lights, can cause more harm than help.

I was responsible for contributing to the script and finding out what information would be important to put in the PSA. I also helped record certain parts of the video.

I believe we did well with finding useful information. We also tried to make sure that everyone was satisfied with the script and didn't use any misleading information. If I could change anything, I would add in a visual of the examples and make it more entertaining.

The most meaningful part of the experience was finding the research. We had to become experts on the topic. In addition, we had to retain the information to explain it.

Environmental Science: Water Pollution

Posted by Mercedes Blades in Environmental Science · Aziz · E on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 5:03 pm

Water pollution is what we decided to focus on because it’s a growing concern. It affects the water quality levels as well as surrounding living organisms.

We evenly contributed to this project. All of the checkpoints were divided evenly. We assigned different sections of the issue to the members to research so that we gathered the most information in the most efficient time possible. It helped a lot. Also, we assigned group roles. For example, I was in charge of signing in and out the equipment and time management.

Something that went well was gathering the information. All the checkpoints were completed on time and done thoroughly. We fell behind when it came to recording. Between finding spaces that were unlocked to record at, putting the equipment together, and knowing what to say, it was a challenge. We could have managed our time and available resources better so that our project wasn’t so rushed.

The most meaningful part of the experience of creating the PSA is to bring knowledge of the situation to others and hopefully make a change.

Litter (Philadelphia is Our Trash Can!)

Topic-Litter

Are Environmental PSA is about litter. Litter is a very huge Problem in Philadelphia! Philadelphia is third most dirtiest city. The main reason for this is because a lot of people aren’t disposing their trash properly. Instead, people are using our city, our plant as their personal trash can. So we based our PSA around litter and how we can try to prevent it. I helped my group just by doing what they need done. Also, learning my lines and and making sure they come out nice. I think it went well overall everyone got there lines done and we basically was able to film everyone's lines in one day. The only thing was the half day because of the Keystone testing and a class trip through our class time off. The most meaningful part of creating this PSA was seeing how my group was able to work with me when I was caught because I was absent.

Topic : Oil Spills in the U.S

The content of our video, is based on the impact of oil spills in the u.s. I contributed in various way. I bounced around the group editing and organizing the script and collecting different photos for our video. So we'll have a good representation for our classmates. I think i did well by keeping everyone on track maintaining the group and contributing to on task conversation. Something i would do differently is take my time when researching. To pick up all details. I think the most meaningful [art pof our video was acknowledging the fact that were hurting our environment and its important we fix this as a community because this issue has an impact on all of us.

Environmental Justice : Oil spill

Posted by Shirin Akhter in Environmental Science · Aziz · E on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 2:31 pm

This video was made by Will Sigler, Shiren Akhter, Michael Tran, & Tykeiah Martin. It is a PSA about oil spills and environmental justice.

Oil spill was a good topic to talk about because this problem affect the community where it happens and this problem hasn't been solved
My role in this project was to make sure everything was organized and make sure my part was done.
I did well on researching about the topic and how to try to solve it.
I think that working with a group was the most meaningful part of creating the PSA because it is very efficient and teamwork is cool.

Environmental Justice: Oil Spills

This video was made by Will Sigler, Shiren Akhter, Michael Tran, & Tykeiah Martin. It is a PSA about oil spills and environmental justice.

I wanted to talk about oil spills because it is an environmental justice issue. Oil spills contaminate water and it can kill animals that live near it.

I didn’t have a specific role, I just helped in all aspects of the project as much as I can, like helping my group in recording, editing, and writing the script.

I think my best contribution to the project was the editing. I think I could have worked a little harder on the script.

I think that working with a group was the most meaningful part of creating the PSA because it is very efficient and teamwork is cool.

Through this research and reflection, I have learned a lot about how much our community truly goes through. It shows me how although I hear many different problems in our environment I never really thought or knew it was affecting me so close to home. This leaves me to wonder how will our city be in future and are their dedicated people and projects to change these problems in our community.
