Devon Defining the ever expanding internet
I would say that i am a pretty good person online because I'm responsible i make sure it's nothing explicit or offensive to anyone I mean at times I might slip up and find myself calling someone out on a picture because they said something ignorant and unintelligent to say and i will call them out on some real stuff but that's besides the point. I would like to think that people would think I'm a very independent and self righteous person who stands up for others who are being put down and told they are worthless. But the thing is i know i probably seem uptight and there's probably people who are like can he mind his business. But i think that if i have an opinion that is not gonna offend someone. I think before i act i think of these essential questions which are Am i gonna offend someone?, Do i feel comfortable with people are gonna think of when they see this?, Am i risking anything by putting this thing on the internet?
Pros
You can connect with others you haven't seen in a long time
you can learn interesting new things
you can get close to those who live in other parts of the world
Cons
-well it can be used and it sad it's a common usage to put others down
- It can cause others to become suicidal
- it can scar children emotionally and can make them depressed
-it can cause others to forget how normally communicate with others
I think that it takes certain amount of control to act appropriately online because you can willy nilly just put anything you want up there you need to be grown up and mature enough to know what is appropriate for others to look at and also what is appropriate for you to lay your eyes on. Just because you think something is right and is not that big of a deal doesn't mean society is ready to see that or be as comfortable with what you deem worthy as to being fine or appropriate. One thing you should watch out for is those employers who will ask you for your facebook or instagram account or even both and they will judge you right then and there who you really are after a real life interview or not they are gonna determine who will get a job based off of what they know from what you post on those social media platforms. I personally think it's wrong yet a good way to keep your work place having classy well adjusted people working for you because first off if you're ready to be apart of a company that pays well you need to be who you are at work and at home which means no posting illegal stuff on insta and coming to work all happy and well adjusted no. You need to be well adjusted individual at home social media and the workplace it's a tough job but it's easy yeah see. But here's some tips 1) only post the bare minimum not everyone needs to know you hate susan and are planning on jumping her come on man not cool, 2) If you wanna post and really good selfie a gun or blunt is not necessary just some good lighting and your beautiful smile and if not a smile then just a straight up model face. For score and seven years ago our for fathers gave us the freedom of speech a law allowing us to say whatever is on our mind and preach our own belief but what's tricky is what's an appropriate way to handle this type of privilege well i will help define this tricky law well it's said that freedom of speech means you have the right to say whatever you want but there limits even tho people still say them and they are still in there rights to say what they have to say. For example you can't yell FIRE in a crowded building because people may get injured even tho you can still say the word you'll get locked up for using it at the wrong times so is it really freedom of speech or not this law is really defined it feels as if it can't make up its mind of what it really is. Now let us talk about infamous internet trolls they stalk and prowl around for anyone who is way better than they are and put them down in the most harshest ways by saying the most harshest things and even tho there are people who can rub it off their shoulder internet trolls have caused a lot of people some grief and some pain even causing others to become suicidal. The main goal of these horrible internet trolls is to cause pain and gain a sense of pride in putting others down to raise their terrible self esteem. So how do we stop them you may be asking the funny thing is people get so hyped up and want to lash back at them and put them down back in their place when the correct thing to do is to just ignore them leave them as they are in their own little world trying to bring others down.
Pros of anonymously posting online
-you can give your opinion without ridicule
- if you don't really like putting yourself out there but you wanna look for help you can still get it without having trouble
-if you want to get answers you don't have to give you real name if you're a shy person about that
Cons
there can be a lot more child predator stalking
there can be inappropriate messages sent to others such as under age nudes and etc
there can be people who send anonymous messages putting down others and they never find out who it is so they do it as many times as they want and torture the person.
Heres some tips to keep you afloat in this crazy fast paced online social media world we live in
Be cautious you never know who you'll meet online not everyone is who they say they are lots of people live lies on the internet
It's always good to ignore the haters and not respond even tho it's tempting it's not worth it they'll keep responding back and keep on being irritating
make sure who you are in real life is who you are on the internet and don't give out too much info about your personal life it's not needed
Thx for reading and have a good time and good luck you'll need nowadays
Collin's Social Media Survival Guide
For me I only want to be online if I’m being recruited or doing something. But I’m only online due to my Instagram account. But other than that I’m not online. But if people were to see me online or on my Instagram they would see that I love basketball and I am intelligent and know what I want to have in my life. But enough about me this is a guide for you and how to survive in the social media world.
Pros and Cons of sharing online
Pros
You can share fun information to your friends
You can let anyone know how you're feeling
You can get advice/help
You can save lives if you need to
You can raise awareness
Cons
Anyone can find you
People can hack into your account
People can stalk you
You can lose vital information
You can lose your job if you post something inappropriate
How this can happenen
You have no control of where your post goes. People can screenshot and share your post to who ever they want. Your employer can find out your account and see what you're up to. Also a big thing now is memes. Someone can meme you're post and it can go viral. Like Kyra Pringle. She was a little two year old that had a genetic disorder. So her mom posted a birthday picture online not knowing that it was going to be photoshopped memed and made fun of. So be careful with your posts. People who do this are called internet trolls. Internet trolls are people who start arguments when the post upsetting things just to get attention from people. You can easily stop internet trolling by not responding. Their goal is to get a response. So don’t pay them any mind.
Another thing is not everyone wants to know every aspect of your life. Like “ I just finished going to the bathroom. Now I’m going to pick up my kids.” Also another big thing is that if you comment or post something rude, disrespectful, or racist you're employer can fire you for that. Or they may not even hire you if you didn’t get the job yet. You might think that's crazy but they have the right to do it. Would you want someone that is racist and discriminates minorities to be a police officer. I didn’t think so. So I think it’s a good thing that jobs do social media background checks.
So in conclusion these are my three tips to not get into trouble online:
Don’t respond to internet trolls
Don't post or like inappropriate content online
Don’t post every little aspect of your life
Nathan M. social media guide
When I get online I appear as a basketball player, chef, and also a good big brother to my little sister.
I think that they think that i’m nice because i do not post anything offensive about anybody online
and I do not post anybody else online unless it’s for a shoutout.
Before I post online I consider the fact that I have some followers that I do not know so I have to be careful about what I post because some people can steal my Information.
Some pros and cons about posting online are do not post anything you have online because some people might try to find out where you live and then try to break into your house to steal your items.
Lack of control online can turn your life around because there are so many things that people can do to you online like try to expose you and then try to embarrass.
I think that social media is a good thing because it is a way for people to stay in touch if you have a family member that lives far away or if you have a friend that lives far away.
Free speech is a way for you to speak your mind on social media but it is only safe if you put your social media page on private instead of public because if it is on public then people can read your thoughts.
A internet troll is someone that judges you on some of the pictures that you post and they make rude comments on the photo that you post.
The goals of internet trolls are they want to make the person who posted the picture feel bad about themselves.
We can stop trolling by blocking the people that have made you feel down or you can ignore the troll.
The pros and cons of posting anonymously are people can make rude comments to you or they can make memes about that person.
be careful about what you post
do not let internet trolls get to you
- be yourself and do not worry about anyone else
Survival guide online by DS
Online I appear as a whole different person, I’m very quiet, and pretty much the same as how I act in public. When people look at me based on my appearance they would think I’m a delinquent or a trouble maker. When posting I think about what I say and I make sure people understand what I post or say and make sure that they don’t misunderstood, and that nobody would be offended. The pros is that you can control what you post and the cons is that whatever you post may spread like a wildfire depending on what you say. Lack of control, permanence and immediacy impacted our lives because people will look at what you post, and you can’t control what you post because people can just keep sharing passing it on from person to person, and permanence is affecting our lives (not just online, also our personal live) because people just look at that and assume you are this and this because you post this and this. My thoughts on a social media background checks by potential employers, well I’m against that because it’s a breach of privacy, and people judge quickly on what the person is like when they see a certain post, but I can’t complain because it’s maybe a job that I want. Free speech is basically the right to say whatever you want, but this power have some limits, things like profanity, fight words, and words that is used to degrade someone is not protected by law. An internet troll is someone who enjoys seeing people mad, basically they make someone mad and trying to get their angers out. Well we can stop trolling by making a website that have programs that type some random discussion and the program can be programmed to respond to what the trolls is saying so they wouldn’t bother an actual person. Pros of posting anonymously is that no one would know that you are the poster if you wanna post without anyone knowing who you are, and the con is that it’s difficult to identify the person who post certain posts.
tips
1. Think before posting.
2. Comment without offending or use words to degrade.
3. Ignore a troll.Ryan's Social Media Survival Guide
Online I am kind of anonymous so to speak. You may find facebook accounts and instagram account none of which lead back to me.
They just look at me and they most likely just look at me as an average kid who likes average kid stuff.
I don’t honestly post much and when I do it is mostly family stuff so I don’t consider much to be quite honest.
A con of sharing online is one their is many ways to track where you are and where you took that picture. Another con is people will sometimes create bad opinions about you just based on the posts you create.
They all have an impact on our online lives and everyday lives because what we post online defines us to most people. Also what you post on the internet is ALWAYS on the internet.
I feel that social media background checks are not a problem. The reason behind that is because everyone should be smart enough to make a work or public account and a personal one as well.
Free speech to me is the right to be able to publically post and/or say anything that we please such as opinions and not be punished for it.
An internet troll is a person that will comment anything that they can to make you made. Or anything to make you angry sad. They feel that they can control whatever you think. They think they can get any emotion out of you and most of the time they can. The goals of internet trolls are to get anything they want out of you. Make you feel bad. Or maybe even a friendly troll might make you laugh or giggle. We will never be able to stop trolling. There will always be a person who will get through anything. The best advice is to ignore them and monitor your comments.
The pro’s is you are completely unknown you are not traceable. The cons are that you might only have a certain amount of friends irl and online.
My three tips to anyone using social media is one don’t always expect every comment to be good. Two make yourself private and only accept people you know and trust. Three don’t post anything without fully knowing all of the possible outcomes.
Social Media Survival Guide
Online I appear as someone who runs track for Ballistic Response Athletics. My business or my social life isn’t on there so you wouldn’t know much about me. When people see me on the internet they would perceive me to be younger and slower than I really am because my track information hasn’t been updated.
People love to share stuff online including myself. But when we share stuff we forget to realize that all the followers we have or friends on social media are viewing our post. So we have to watch out for what we post because we don’t know what they could do with our post. But sometimes when people repost stuff on the internet it may be a good thing. So say if you created a funny video that someone thought was funny and they repost it, and others repost it as well. If people keep reposting and liking the video you may become famous off of just doing that.
Sometimes we have a lack of control when we are online and we fail to realize who is viewing our post. So say if you’re applying for a job and your boss wants to check your social media. What are you going to do when he/she finds something inappropriate on there? Which wouldn’t be wrong for them to do since they are trying to get a bigger view on you. So to see how you are when your not on duty.
On the internet we all have entitlement to freedom of speech. But when it comes to trolling we need to learn how to stop and think about the other person. Trolling is when someone takes a picture of someone and creates a meme to make the picture funny. Also it’s when someone posts something and you rudely comment or do something to make them feel bad aboit themselves. We can stop trolling by not reposting the “funny” memes. People think because they post anonymously that its okay. When you post anonymously, of course nobody knows that you didn’t make it but if someone finds out you did it you can end up in some big trouble.
DO NOT TROLL
BE MATURE
- BE CAUTIOUS

Online i really don't appear except for one photo. So online I am almost anmous.
I think people would perceive me as a latin-american teenager. Who lives in philadelphia.
I honestly do not post a lot. I mainly just share things on Facebook.
Some pros are that you can get praised for doing good deeds. But you can also get criticized for things you post. And there are lots of argument that start online.
The lack of control is a real bad thing about the internet because something that's supposed to be good can be interpreted wrong.
I believe social media background checks are a good way to determine if someone is good for the job. But they also do need to do more thourgh things like police record and etc.
Really free speech doesn't exist online because anything could be taken wrong. And some of things that are protected are political posts. ANd things that are not protected are terroristic pages.
An internet troll is when someone makes front of somebody online.
Lots of internet trollers goals are to get people mad and start arguments.
We can stop trolling by blocking people who troll. And websites can block users who troll.
Some pros posting anonymously are that nobody know that you did it. But a con is that if it gets big you will not get any recognition for it.
One tip is that you think about what you post just like you think about what you say before saying it. Also when you are angry don't post dictive things that can get you in trouble like the girl from UCLA. And also do not troll people online.

If you search my name, you will not see me online. I will be telling you about how to survive on social media. I do not appear on social media, therefore people cannot perceive me. I guess you can say, I do not exist. I don’t post anything online. I don’t recommend sharing things online. There are pros and cons to sharing online.
Pros:
You might have something funny and want to send it to someone else
You could go viral (in a good way)
Cons:
What you send might be inappropriate and they could send it to a million different people and then everyone could see it. You would be publically humiliated.
It could go viral (in a bad way)
Lack of control, permanence, and immediacy have a large impact on our lives. Permanence is in the internet. Once you post something, anyone could repost immediately, then you have no control over what goes on with the post. That’s the lack of control on the internet and the immediacy.
My thoughts on social media background checks for people applying to jobs is it doesn’t make sense to me. Whatever you do in your free time has nothing to do with what you do at work. So what you can smell like cigarettes or weed. Or you’re an alcoholic, you do those things on you’re free time to have fun or release stress. If you didn’t want to lose your job for doing drugs or drinking, you wouldn’t apply for the job in the first place.
I am now going to discuss “free speech”. What is this free speech that you ask? It’s the right to speak your mind and give you 2 cents on what you think about whatever. But people take this “free speech” thing too far. When people start degrading people for how they look or how they speak is when it’s not free speech. After that point it’s just the hatred of yourself and not the person you make feel bad. Certain things are protected like telling someone to kill themselves. That gives you serious consequences. You go to jail and will get charged for I think murder. But things like racism, segregation, and bullying doesn’t seem to get noticed.
An internet troll is someone who just hates on people for no reason at all. They start arguments under videos on youtube just to watch the arguments for their enjoyment. They say things like under random videos saying “Justin Bieber is soooo much better than 1D.” I just sit and wonder why… just why would you do something like that. Their goals are to see people angry and argue so they can be happy because deep down inside, they are dead. We can stop trolling by not feeding into their nonsense. They are like a fire-if you stop feeding them air, they’ll die.
Let’s switch gears for a moment. Many people post anonymously online. Let’s see the Pros and Cons of this situation:
Pros:
You post things that you don't think twice about, start a debate but they don't really know who you are so they can’t really kill you for saying something that you weren't thinking about the consequences for.
People don’t really know who you are, or what you look like, they just like your content.
Cons:
You might post something really inspirational, people like it, you could get famous, but nobody knows who you are so you can’t take the credit. Soon everyone else will be posting or saying it so much where it doesn’t matter.
Tips to survive social media:
Don’t post any inappropriate content that could ruin your future
Don’t be an internet troll
Be positive

I’m fun, interesting, and respectful when I’m online. Also, I appear as person who likes to play video games, hangs out with friends, and does school work. I think might perceive me as a nerd sometimes but I’m cool with hanging around with people. I consider what content will be appropriate before posting anything online. Here are some pros for sharing anything online:
You could brighten someone’s day by sharing a funny meme
You could share can send fashion, road trips, art, or etc.
You could share videos about school, video games, or comedy
Now here are some cons for sharing anything online:
Sharing an embarrassing photo or video of someone
Being ignorant to culture, race, or ethnic group in a video
Posting obscene videos or pictures
Say if you post something about a race of people that might seem ignorant to others and decide to share that post, you have a Lack of Control when people are sharing that exact post to others which could ruin your social life. Even if you delete that post, people will find a way to repost that exact post which could remain permanent on the internet forever. Going back to Lack of Control, sharing a post with other people can spread a lot quicker to many other people.
I have some thoughts about employers checking your social media background. When employers look at your social media, your employer will determine who you are based on your social media. When I think about this concept, I feel that you can give a better judgement about a person by giving a trial run about the workplace. The Freedom of Speech means that a citizen has the right speak. The Freedom of Speech is not protected by libel, slander, defamation, fighting words, and obscenity. An Internet Troll is a person that enjoys messing with people on the web. The goals of Internet Trolls are:
Make people angry about a certain topic online
Embarrass you with a video or photo online
Make people laugh about a topic
We can stop “trolling” by not paying attention to what a Troll says. Here are some pros and cons about posting anonymously:
You could defend a person from being bullied
You could as the bully and embarrass a person
Here are some pro tips on social media:
Don’t try to embarrass a person or they will try to get payback.
Ignore internet trolls, these people enjoy your misery
Be kind people when they post or share online
