Art Project 3

  1. Describe your project
I made a drawing of a bird that I first sketched then painted over.

  2. What knowledge did you already have about the project before you started?

I had made sketches for my last two projects. I had little knowledge with painting for this subject.

  3. What new skill did you want to learn coming into the project?
I wanted to learn how to paint over sketches seamlessly. I want to be better at painting, so I started out with sketches first and then painted over them.

  4. Did you accomplish this goal?
I did since I made a painting through sketches and painting techniques.

  5. How do you know you accomplished the goal? If you didn’t accomplish the goal, why do you think that is?
I know i accomplished the goal since I made the bird painting to my liking. The paint clashes somewhat and isn’t the neatest, but it was something knew that I tried. I feel like it turned out ok.

  6. What other skill(s) did you learn along the way?
I learned different techniques for painting. Such as how different strokes and dexterity of the water change the way the painting turns out.

  7. What are you most proud of in this project?

I’m most proud of the way the bird turned out. I like the color scheme of it since the blue makes a sky like feel and brown is seen common on birds.

  8. What would you do differently if you had to do the project over again?

I would change the background. The background doesn’t fit as much as I would like it to with the bird.

Abstract Art

  1. Describe your project

My project is a form of abstract art. You see a stream of crayola crayons dripping down the canvas with the word grow highlighted at the bottom. To me it’s sorta like the crayons dripping are continuously growing and me as a person I feel like I am always continuously growing. Even at the roughest times, I always want to grow in some kind of way.

  1. What knowledge did you already have about the project before you started?

I had just knew that the crayons were made of of wax and once anything wax getting heated it starts leaking. Also, I knew what materials I needed and what techniques to test out so I could have made up my final decision come time for the final project.

  1. What new skill did you want to learn coming into the project?

Going into this project I wanted to learn how to be in control of the crayons. What that means is the way the crayons dripped and how much they dripped I wanted to be determined by me. I did not just want to make a blob of colors.

  1. Did you accomplish this goal?

Yes, I have accomplished this goal and I loved completing this project. If, I could I would do this again.

  1. How do you know you accomplished the goal? If you didn’t accomplish the goal, why do you think that is?

I am very pleased with what I created and I’m not just saying that as a settlement. I really love what I have created. I love the feedback that I have been getting as well. When you look at something and really admire it that’s how you know that you have created something well and I feel as though I am going to actually use this piece and hang it somewhere.

  1. What other skill(s) did you learn along the way?

I learned that when melting the crayons it was better not to hold the heat gun too close to the crayons because this would created blobs of the colors to come out. Whereas what I had to do was hold the heating gun away and on an angle to get just drips to come out of the crayons.

  1. What are you most proud of in this project?

I am most proud that I have completed the project only because it seemed like I kept hesitating about my ideas. I knew that I wanted to do something with melting crayons, but I was so unsure about the concept behind what I was actually going to do. Now, that I have created this piece I am so proud that I finished it, it’s on time, and I am so proud of what I have done.

  1. What would you do differently if you had to do the project over again?

If I had to do this project over again the only thing that I would change is maybe trying to do a different picture. Maybe, I would try to make an actual picture instead of just lines. I would learn how to use a different method in regards to making the crayons move different ways.

Surreal Slime Dream

This Project was an achievement for me as it was my first time painting and it included something from a mission in a game called First Time Together, and the boss of the mission was a Slime. The slime I guess represents me in a dream on a plane staring at the sky, which is supposed to be Surrealism right? Anyways, here's my reflection. Peace.

  1. Describe your project
My project is pretty much just a small, purple slime (with one black string with a purple ball on its end sticking out of the top of the slime) staring up at the blue-sprayed clouds.

  2. What knowledge did you already have about the project before you started?

I knew about how to take care of acrylic paint and painting materials, as well as what they’re made of and how best to use them in techniques.

  3. What new skill did you want to learn coming into the project?

I wanted to learn about how exactly acrylic paint works. What I was looking for was some experimentation and experience to accompany the previous knowledge that i’d looked up.

  4. Did you accomplish this goal?

    Yes.

  5. How do you know you accomplished the goal? If you didn’t accomplish the goal, why do you think that is?

I know I accomplished this goal because I was able to experiment with different tones and shades and apply them on different plates. In my blog post i’ll show you what I came up with in the end, well before it all got swirled. Still looks pretty cool.

  6. What other skill(s) did you learn along the way?

I learned about making different shades, and painting small areas. Making shades requires that you have space for making different variations and occasionally going over the variation line to refill certain shades. Painting small areas really depends on the look that is wished to be gained, which can be gained with different size brushes, and applying water to different areas.

  7. What are you most proud of in this project?

I’m most proud of the painting in itself. The Slime could have came out better, but the blue painted sky, the blue and white mixed clouds that don’t look the same from each other, and the greenish-yellowish grass are beautiful to me. On top of that, I finished my entire project in one day, and was able to get my work done on time, which was truly a miracle for my schedule.

  8. What would you do differently if you had to do the project over again?

I would have done it sooner.

Research project 3

art research 3
art research 3
For my research I did water color over a sketch. I wanted to try out different shades and color variants. So i wanted to switch from darker to lighter to darker again. I also tried putting more water in certain areas to see how it turned out. In the end I like the colors mashing but not the splotchy water effect that happened.

Color Shading Practice

I practiced using the color pencils as well as the pens and markers. I used light and dark blue, green, brown, and black. These are the possible eye colors for my drawings. I did different shades for each color pencil. This shows that the pressure applied to the drawing utensil can change the outcome. I also practiced drawing an example eye mixing the color pencils and the pen together in one.

Research: Flower

I've tried something simple to see how it feel working with soft pastels. There are some pros and cons working with soft pastels. The pros are, you don't really have to use to much force to have a bolder color. The other pro is soft pastel have vibrant colors. There are cons, for example it's very messy because it's like chalk it get on your clothes easily. Another con is it spread are don't really stay on the canvas. So to solve those problem applying a spray to prevent from going everywhere.

Fauvism

My experience with this material was easy. I thought fauvism would be hard trying to draw a self portrait or of something else. I actually think fauvism is cool because of all the bright colors that make the painting pop out. My sketch was suppose to come out like a bear I didn't put to many colors behind it but it was still easy.

Gag Manga

A gag style manga is a type of manga that is more comical than most. Therefore, it is often drawn in a more of a flow and emphasis on a character's details. I want to learn about this type of manga, because I think it would best suit me and I have never looked into this type of manga before. I hope to make a 12 page gag manga that leaves the reader wanting more of it to read.
