  • An explanation of how the Internet has changed communication. Make sure to use at least one specific example.

In my opinion, the internet has changed communication because this generation does more of electronical communication, instead of verbal communication. Before the internet was created, verbal communication was the most popular way to communicate. Now that we have technology, there is less of verbal communication.

  • Define Immediacy, Permanence and Lack of Control as they pertain to the Internet

Immediacy is the how instant a post goes onto a social media site. Permanence is how a post will stay on the internet forever. Lack of control is something that is out of your hands.

  • An explanation of how Immediacy, Permanence and Lack of Control affect both our offline and our online identities and lives. Include at least one example.4

These three types of social injustices affect our online lives because it could affect how people apply for jobs because if you look that person up, you will see the things that they have posted, and also what other people have posted about that person. They affect offline life because what people see on the internet, they believe and your reputation is ruined.

  • What are two ways that you can actively manage and protect your identity and your reputation online? (one of each)

One way you can protect your reputation is to not have any social media sites. Another way you can protect your reputation is to post responsibly.

  • Answer the question: “Does the Internet have rules?” Use at least one specific example.

The internet does not have rules but certain websites do not allow certain content on their website.

  • Define cyberbullying in your own words.

Cyberbullying is being bullied by technology, usually done on social media.

  • Describe at least 2 kinds of cyberbullying and why they are considered cyberbullying

  • Harassment-is intimidation of a person by posting them continuosly, saying things to damage their reputation, and or spamming them

  • Flaming- Flaming is similar to harassment, but it is insulting a person usually involving profanity

  • Provide advice for: victims, bullies and bystanders of cyberbullying

My advice for victims of cyberbullying is to talk to someone so the problem will not escalade or delete all of their social media pages. My advice for bullies is to put yourself in the victim’s shoes, and see how you would feel if you were being bullied. My advice for bystanders is to speak up and help the victim if they see them getting bullied.

  • Your Top 5 tips for using the Internet

                       -Post responsibly

-Post/comment positive things that could makes someone’s day

                             - Do not make a page if you are planning on trolling (which is another form of cyberbullying

-Post things that you wouldn’t mind your boss seeing

                           - Do not post anything that will hurt others reputation

Required Project Elements:

  • An explanation of how the Internet has changed communication. Make sure to use at least one specific example.

The internet once was a platform where you can share information online and…. That's it, let your information go online and people can view it. The only form of communication is through Phone. When. ARPANET adopted TCP/IP on January 1, 1983. In the internet you could show your finding and get good feedback. Since the internet was new people became more cautious with it and posted appropriate material and respectful comments.

  • Define Immediacy, Permanence and Lack of Control as they pertain to the Internet

Immediately is how fast something can get popular.

Permanence is the time it stays there. (Which can be forever).

Lack of Control is how you can't do anything about it because it has spreaded.

  • An explanation of how Immediacy, Permanence and Lack of Control affect both our offline and our online identities and lives. Include at least one example.

When you post a picture on social media it could be immediately, permanence, and lack of control all in one because you cannot get the picture back because it has been shared so much so fast and there is nothing you can do about it

  • What are two ways that you can actively manage and protect your identity and your reputation online? (one of each)

  • Answer the question: “Does the Internet have rules?” Use at least one specific example

1) .

People used to get their news from the newspaper but now people get their news from online and in 2013 47% of the population got their news from Facebook.http://www.niemanlab.org/2016/05/pew-report-44-percent-of-u-s-adults-get-news-on-facebook/

2)

Immediacy has a very serious effect on the internet, people just do what they want without thinking on the effects. Permanence. People don't realize that what they post on the internet will not go away even if they take it down. Lack of Control. You might only email two people something but that could go viral and the whole internet could end up knowing it.

3)

All of these have a much larger effect on the internet because anyone can see what you post share it as they like and do what they want with it. It might be illegal but people will still do it. Like with Tyler how he was recorded inline and ended up committing suicide.

4)

You should always think before you post and if something comes you do not like you should send an email asking for it to be taken down. You should never give out your email to an untrusted source or click unknown links.

5).

Yes the internet has rules it might be hard to enforce them but the internet does have rules. If you look on websites you will see that you sometimes have to agree to something, those can be considered rules.

6)

Cyberbullying is the act of harassing someone over the internet or giving out personal information. Doxing is a kind of cyberbullying that involves getting the information of someone and releasing it online. Impersonation is a kind of cyberbullying because it can be used to harass someone by making a bad name for that person.

7)

Victims should always say something what is happening to a teacher parent or even police.

Bullies should think about what they are doing and stop.

Bystanders should speak up and say something or get help

8)

  • Be very careful and do not do anything that could leak any information.

  • Remember that no matter what you might think it is virtually impossible to be anonymous on the internet.

  • Be nice on the internet.

  • Remember that the internet does have rules.

  • Try not to be a different person.

The internet has made a momentous change in communication in good and some not so good ways. Immediacy effects your on and offline life in several ways one way on line is you might click the post button and not mean it but you can’t change it. Off line if you say something mean or office something could happen to you or that person could be hurt.Permanency can affect you online because if you post something bad  that's what people think of you. Offline you might lose friends or certain people will think of you differently. Lack of control effect you online because if a picture of you is photoshopped on someone else people might think that's you.Offline you  can get in trouble if that think online was illegal.

  1. The Internet has changed communication because it gives humans the privilege to do things easier than they can in person without getting caught. For example, the Internet lets you judge others anonymously and possibly ruin their lives.

  2. Immediacy is when you post something online and the post immediately is recognized by others, even if you delete it someone possibly got offended or screenshotted the post.

Permanence is when a post is permanent. It will always exist on the internet.

Lack of Control is when you don’t have control over something you or another person posted.

    3.    Immediacy, Permanence, and Lack of Control affect our online and offline lives because whatever                is under your name will follow you forever.

   4.    You can protect your identity and reputation by securing your accounts and thinking before you post.

    5.    The internet does have rules. Social media and other websites allow you to do certain things and has the authority to ban you.

     6.   Cyberbullying is harassing someone else just to lower their self esteem.

There is also flaming and outing, they are considered bullying because they hurt others’ feelings and make them feel bad about themselves.

     7. Victims: seek help, report the pages.

Bullies: think before you post.

Bystanders: don’t engage, talk to the victim afterwards.

8. Think about how others would feel, Remember how your post can affect your reputation, Secure accounts, Use different passwords, and be aware of hacks.

1 To me immediacy is like posting something online or it can be saying something in person. Once you say it you can’t take it back.

1b.  Permanence is only on the internet once something is on the internet it's forever even if you take it down. There are screenshots or pictures to prove you may have done something.

1c. Lake of Control is if you are tagged in something you had no control over what happened. Also you have no control over what happen when other people post or say something and bring you into it.

2.  One way you can protect yourself online is making sure you only post appropriate things online. Also something you can do to protect yourself online is to only contact people you know oline.

3. Does the internet have rules? Yes it does like legally you cannot post or say certain things online. For example On twitter if you put something up that they don't like it will be taken down.

4. Cyberbullying is hiding behind your screen to and hurting others.

4b harassing saying mean thing on the internet to hurt other people

5 Don't be a victim stand up to bullies

1. The internet has changed our community in many different types of ways.  For example, the way that people communicate now is through the internet.  It is a lot more convenient than sending letters or meeting up with people because everybody doesn’t always have time to write a letter or meet with someone just to talk about something.

2. While using the internet you have to be careful of Immediacy, Permanence, and Lack of Control.  Immediacy is when you send something or post something and it is uploaded immediately.  Permanence is when you post or send something and it will be on the internet for ever.  Finally, Lack of Control is when you no longer have control over something that you send or posted to the internet.

3. Immediacy, Permanence, and Lack of Control affects our online and offline lives because if you post something or send something that everyone can see, you can get in trouble online and get in even more trouble in real life.

4. Two ways that you can actively protect your online identity is by one, making a password that even you can’t remember.  Also, you can try and make yourself private on whatever you are using so only people you know can see what you post.

5. Does the internet have rules.  The answer is no.  But, on almost everything that you use on the internet, it has a terms of service also.  In those terms of service it tells you what you are allowed to do and what you are not allowed to do.

6. Cyberbullying is when you constantly harass someone or attack someone of the internet to get them angry or scared/worried.

7. One type of cyberbullying is trolling.  Trolling is when you purposely say things to get someone mad.  This is cyberbullying because someone is purposely bothering someone for the sole purpose of making them mad.  Another type of cyberbullying is Mashups.  Mashups is when you take a photo of someone and edit it to insult the person or just as a funny joke.  This is cyberbullying because you are making fun of a person so that other people can laugh at it.

8. Some advice that I have for victims of cyberbullying is to try and not take what people say so personally so that you don’t get hurt from it.  Also, you should tell someone that you are being cyberbullied and they might be able to do something about it in order for it to stop.

9. My 5 tips for using the internet are make passwords that you can’t remember, don’t post anything that will hurt somebody, keep your accounts private, don’t share anything of your accounts with others, and do anything on the internet that could affect you.
