Circuit Project

The meaning behind our project statue is that as the lights get higher up the building, the better your future will be. All you have to do is strive for it. As long as you work hard for it, you'll get there. You'll get where you want to be.

The item that I chose to light is an American Flag.  This is something that I view as symbolic of America, in particular, viewing it as a symbol of freedom and independence.  This is meaningful to me, because my second favorite holiday is the 4th of July or Independence Day.  It is a time when my family has its second largest gathering, next to Christmas.  We all get together and grill tons of food, light bunches of fireworks, and have the best of times.  It is the staple of my summer and one of my most joyous moments of the year.

School Closings and Delays

SLA at Beeber follows the School District of Philadelphia's school closings and delays.

To see if school is closed or delayed, go to http://philasd.org. The district will post an announcement on the homepage. You can also check the FOX 29 site: http://www.myfoxphilly.com/category/239296/school-closings-and-delays

If school is delayed 2 hours, classes will run on a shortened schedule. Students will still have all of their classes scheduled for that day.

Family Appreciation

The Office of Family and Community Engagement has planned several events to take place in October in honor of Family Appreciation Month.

This annual celebration allows the School District of Philadelphia to express its appreciation for all that families do in support of their child’s education and our schools. Studies have proven that when families are involved with their child’s education, students perform better in their classes and are more likely to graduate.

An event calendar for Family Appreciation Month can be accessed at http://www.philasd.org/announcements/2013-family-appreciation-month.pdf.  Please share this information with students and parents at your school and encourage them to register as soon as possible.
