  • What inspired your work? What inspired my work was just wanting everyone to be happy and peaceful.
  • Why did you choose the location you chose? I picked this location because I wanted It outside of Ms Hertz room and at first i wanted it really low because I didn't want anyone to see it but my best friend moved it because she thought it shouldn't be on the floor.
  • How did this project change your perception of Art? It didn't really change my perception of art I always loved art and I will still Love at it as an amazing way to express yourself 
  • How did this project change your perception of Art you see as you travel around the city? I Think the little things will catch my eye after doing this project.

Emmy and Rayna's Project

Rayna and I chose to do this project on a phone case because our phones are important to us, so we chose something that could protect them. Since both of our favorite colors are blue, we picked a blue phone case. We also thought that it would be interesting to try to light up a phone case, so we tried to put it to the test.

The Light Up Shoe

I choose to do a shoe as my sculpture. I choose to do a shoe because I like running, and this is a running shoe. I also wear shoes everyday, so I figured it would be a good thing to do as a sculpture. Although this isn’t a basketball shoe I also have a lot of basketball shoes, and basketball is one of my favorite sports. I thought it would look really cool to put lights on a shoe to, and it does because you could walk in the dark and still see your shoe light up, so I thought that was cool. That is why I choose to use a shoe as my sculpture.

People kill and steal all day in life.They represent themselves as thieves and people who aren't real or true to their life/self. To be real or stay true to your life don’t kill or don’t steal or don’t commit a crime that will make you unreal.

My illustration represents my memoir. My memoir,  Don’t kill don’t steal  be real represents some life and how the destroy it. People steal kill and commit crime all the time and their end results is in jail. Recently there was a story on the news which involved a famous teen basketball player name Rysheed jordan . His life and journey have been so good because he is major in his sport , basketball , and he is the GOAT. He got into something at the wrong place, wrong time, and with the wrong people. On the news is said he was arrested for a shooting in North Philadelphia. No one knows who he killed and what he did. The only person that know is him. Now he's ended up in jail and somewhere he doesn't want to be.

Artist Statement


I decided to make my project with my makeup bag because I really like putting on makeup and this the thing that holds all the makeup that I have. It is very important to me What this piece of art means to me is that I love makeup and I want the thing that holds it to also have some meaning . It will show others how much I appreciate and love makeup. I wear makeup almost everyday and because it is apart of my everyday life I decided to incorporate it into this project.

Waking Up Early Makes Me Sick

​My six word memoir is "waking up early makes me sick" because I truly hate waking up early. Every morning I have to wake up at 5 A.M and I've never been a morning person, so it isn't fun. For example, most mornings when I wake up, I don't get to eat breakfast because I have no time. Also, I hate morning because it takes me an hour to get to school and I have to take two trains. My room reflects my memoir because in my room the sheets on the bed are coming off because I don't have time to make it, and there are clothes strewn about on the floor from me rushing to get dressed in the morning.

My six word memoir is " I'm the greatest of all time". This is based on a fictional character named Jim and his narcissistic nature narcissistic nature. He believes that he is the best to ever do anything and is very flamboyant about it. He has posters all over his living room that support his egoistic habits. He has even gone as far as to put a bookshelf in his room that has nothing but books filled with pictures of himself. He has never competed in anything to prove that he is the greatest, so his claims are simply delusions of grandeur. He isolates himself away from everyone so that he does not have to face criticism from his peers. He is unemployed, single, and an overall miserable person. He lost a spelling bee miserably in 1st grade and this has lead him to his isolated lifestyle and his exaggerated claims.

"Hard Work Will Always Beat Talent"

"Hard work will always beat talent." This quote popped into my mind when I was watching basketball. I was watching a video about the greatest NBA players who weren't physically intimidating. The top 3 on that list were John Stockton, Steve Nash, and Dirk Nowitzki. As I was watching their highlights, I was amazed at how good they were despite not being physically intimidating like Lebron James or Russell Westbrook. Then, I realized that they worked hard to get to where they are now. Since day 1, they worked hard to become the best they could. Because of this, they were able to face off against some other guys who were able to play in the NBA because of their physical attributes. Because of this hard work, they were able to become NBA legends and 3 of the greatest NBA players of all time. The objects in my room are a treadmill, a dumbbell, and a workout ball. These represent my quote because it shows that my person is working hard to get better. If he does this, he will be able to overcome his lack of talent and become the best he can and the best he could be.

  I chose this bear because this is my childhood stuffed animal. His name is Freny. I got him from Boyd’s Bears outside of Philadelphia. I’ve had him since I was five. Freny has gotten me through a lot and has been through a lot himself. His frayed feet are proof of this. By putting lights around his ears and legs, I’m returning the life he gave to me long ago.

​6 word memoir: She walked in... the room silenced.

Backstory:This girl had a presence.The way she looked and carried herself people stopped and looked at her. She had a great vibe and everyone wanted to be her because she had her head on straight.Women were jealous of her and men wanted her. She wears makeup but never over does it. She sees herself as a princess and so do others.

I decided to use a charger for my project because it is important to me, and it’s also an important part of cell phones. A charger is important to me because it can be a lifesaver for your cell phones. Without a charger you wouldn't be able to charge your cell phones if the battery drained to death, and I know for a fact everyone hate when their phone is dead because they can’t do nothing about it until the phone is charged.

​I decided to use a mug for my project because I drink a lot of tea. The mug represents how much I love tea. This mug says a lot about me because when you usually drink something from a mug, you are relaxing and that you are enjoying something. Also, I relax a lot because I tend to be very stressed out so I drink tea to relax myself.

"Lit" Microphone-Eva

I made a model microphone (since I love music so much), and I have 4 little lights traveling up and down the cardboard base of the handle. I chose to do this for my project because I am obsessed with music, and to me it is “magical” hence the light that illuminates my final piece.

Artist Statement- We chose the skateboard symbol because it is visually appealing. We chose the skateboard because I (aj) skateboard on my spare time. In my hood they call me AnTONY Hawk.

I am also Lamier’s only friend so whatever I like he likes. This is a lie.
