I decided to have a young entrepreneur-led fashion show for My Senior Capstone Project. I reached out to two other designers, and we planned and brainstormed the theme/concept and every other aspect of the show. The fashion show took place May 9th @ sla Beeber Auditorium. Organizing my first fashion show as my capstone project has been an invaluable experience, filled with challenges, self-reflection, and personal growth. Despite the outcome not aligning with my initial vision, I have come to appreciate the journey as an opportunity for learning and development. It taught me the importance of effective communication, leadership, and adaptability. More importantly, it highlighted the need to embrace imperfections and view setbacks as stepping stones toward growth. Moving forward, I am grateful for the support received and excited to apply the lessons learned from this experience in future endeavors.

My group and I (Caprice and Collin), designed a mental health website that allows users to express their feelings in a healthy way. Users can communicate about mental health-related subjects on our website “CanWeTalk” using the chat feature. Other features of the website include sections like the “Learn more” and “Self-care” pages. Visitors can find a list of definitions for several common mental illnesses on the “Learn more” page. We felt it was critical to inform our visitors about the many terms in psychology and how illnesses may affect someone’s mental stability. Additionally, our team felt it was important to add a “Self-care” section to the website. In order to better their mental health at home, we wanted viewers to have the opportunity to learn more about this topic. On this page of the website, you may find tips on how to meditate as well as links to products you can buy that could potentially benefit you. After our website went live, we made flyers to distribute within the SLA building. We also set up an Instagram account for “CanWeTalk” with more promotions and advice. We push for more healthy approaches to address mental health because we value it. As one of SLA’s core values, collaboration is something we also appreciate. Our organization seeks to unite every demographic, that being adults and students.

It took me a while to figure out what I wanted to do for my capstone but I knew I wanted to learn about a job in the medical field. I finally came up with an idea to make a website that will help others like myself learn about what medical job they wanted to pursue. This audience is aimed at 9th-11th graders who felt like they don’t know exactly who they want to be. This capstone project also allowed me to do research of my own and learn more about what I was interested in.

when looking at our school the school needed some color. Instead of the dull hallways that we always wonder about and always tell our peers we need color or something to spice it up. So what better to do than rebuild a bookshelf and leave something behind us? We wanted to give something to the students other than something that has to do with schoolwork. We wanted to give students new books so that when they want to escape the reality of school they can enter another one by getting a book. So we had to sand and paint the bookshelf and put the hands of the seniors on it so that they can leave something behind before they leave for good. then the last part was to put the books in and call it a day.

For my Capstone project, I decided to Host and take the lower school 8th-grade graduation photos. First, I started by thoroughly cleaning and mopping the floors. Using a swifter jet, I was able to get this done in about 40 minutes. Then I was able to sweep up any access dirt that where in the little corners of the room. Miss Zoey is a lower school teacher who assisted me with my capstone. Taking graduation pictures for 8th-grade students can have a positive impact on their confidence and self-esteem in multiple ways. And I could tell because as soon as the children walked into the room, they had the biggest smile on their faces. Graduation pictures symbolize an important milestone in students' lives. By capturing this significant moment. I was able to set up all of the equipment needed after cleaning. Which included the tripod, camera, backdrop, reflector, lens, chairs, and more. Miss Zoey and I purchased three boxes of Dunkin Donuts of all flavors for the kids to enjoy. Everything was such a success because their faces lit up with smiles as I made sure that kid-friendly music was playing in the background. This validation can enhance their confidence and self-acceptance. Pictures can help students see themselves in a different light. The process of getting ready, dressing up, and having their pictures taken can be an empowering experience. Seeing themselves in a positive and professional context can improve their self-image and confidence. This was my goal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f9DOjNAao28

At Science Leadership Academy@Beeber, capstone projects are an integral part of the learning experience. These projects are designed to make a lasting impression on the student and the school, while not taking away from the regular curriculum. This was especially true for my capstone project.

My team and I tackled the important subject of financial literacy, with the goal of showing our classmates the importance of financial freedom. We believed that this knowledge was essential to making informed decisions, and wanted to ensure that our peers had the same opportunities that we did.

To make our project as engaging as possible, we developed creative assignments tailored to our students. We created quizzes, worksheets, and presentations to ensure that everyone was engaged and learning. We also provided real-world examples of financial freedom to illustrate our points.

Our capstone project provided us with an invaluable experience that we will carry with us for the rest of our lives. We learned how to teach, collaborate, and communicate effectively, while also gaining an insightful understanding of the world of finance.

For my Capstone I made a basketball video and it is teaching the kids in the community or anyone that views it on how to play basketball so they can have a new hobby. Also, this was to get people off of the streets since my basketball video you can do this workout right outside your house in your house or in a gym and if you feel like your city is in a safe environment you may go to your park and do it. The end goal of this project is to make people better themselves in basketball and it will help you in your everyday life. Since you need to sacrifice things to help you get better like you may want to play the game today but you want to get better at basketball, you need to decide what will help you. If you want to be great at something you would need to sacrifice something to get what you want in life. By teaching kids in the community how to play basketball, you are helping to instill important values such as discipline and hard work that can help them in all areas of their lives.

I created a safe space for middle school girls at SLA Beeber, serving as a role model and offering a sisterly bond. Inspired by my own efforts to strengthen my relationship with my sister, I aimed to provide support and a place for these girls to express themselves. My classmates and I developed a mini-course focused on team-building, icebreakers, and interactive activities.

Throughout the project, I connected with the girls on a deeper level, going beyond the typical student dynamic. I strived to be a big sister, addressing their concerns and fostering personal growth. The course spanned several months, including a get-to-know-you party, self-care sessions, and outdoor classes.

Despite facing delays and challenges in maintaining their interest, I remained determined to make a positive impact. We sought new activities and utilized online resources to keep them engaged. Collaboration with my classmates and effective communication were crucial for success.

This experience taught me the importance of community and selflessness. Interacting with these girls allowed me to appreciate the simplicity and step away from my own worries. The project aimed to empower the girls, boosting their self-esteem, academic performance, and social skills. Witnessing their progress made me proud, and I hoped that one of them would continue the tradition, inspiring and supporting younger girls in the future.

Overall, the project successfully provided a supportive space for middle school girls, fostering mentorship and personal development. It showcased the positive impact of older students on younger ones, fostering unity in our school community.

Collin Bracy Capstone

I embarked on an ambitious journey to create a mental health website and forum, aiming to provide a supportive and inclusive online space for individuals struggling with mental health issues. The initial phase involved extensive research to gain a deeper understanding of mental health, and the website was designed to be visually appealing and easy to navigate. To ensure the safety and well-being of forum users, I implemented strict guidelines and moderation practices. I am proud to have created a platform that provides individuals with a safe and understanding space to share their stories, seek assistance, and find solace in a community that truly cares.
