Media Team; Q4 Benchmark
For Biochemistry's Q4 benchmark I was assigned to be apart of the media team which was responsible for creating a magazine and well informed instruction manual for the aquaponic system. My role in the group, alongside Angel's was directing manager. We were responsible for an abundance of the written and visual appearance of our benchmark and much of the final product you will view. Angel and I collaborated together to make the magazine and I created the instruction manual with influence from Angel. Overall, from the benchmark I learned the harmful effects of mass production and how it has impacted our environment and prompted a surge of methods and inventions. With the intent to find a renewable, Eco-friendly energy source that is more reliable and sustainable then some of the current, which has in turn prompted our development of this system.

I was the Media Liason and my responsibilities was to Work with the Media Team give them information and photos about how another high-school can design and set up the power, pipes, and pumps of an aquaponics system

I was part of the Power, Pipes, Pumps group where we had to work on building the system so that the water could flow through the plants and back to the tank. My job in the group was to make the Aquaponic poster with information on the Carbon Cycle as well as about the system and how it works. During this project I learned that there is a easy way to grow plant as using just fish and water, you can do it in your own home!

Throughout the process of the Quarter 4 benchmark, I worked diligently as a member of the Power, Pumps, and Pipes team. However, my specific roles were a Chemical Recorder as well as Poster and Presentation Researcher. I worked with Bella, Gianna, Spider, and Emily to meet the expectations of the tasks that were due. For example, Bella and I worked together to test ammonia within our system's water, Gianna, Spider, and I worked on the digital presentation slideshow, and I assisted Emily with outlining the final poster.
Additionally, what I learned from the class blog was that this was truly a team effort. Everyone on each team had a responsibility and primarily maintained whatever that single responsibility was. Furthermore, I learned that an aquaponics system requires so much for it to be successful. The fish must be happy, the plants must grow, the battery for the system must work, and so much more!

In my group, I was the work documentor. Which means I was in charge of taking pictures of all our progress and the daily work logs. Along with that, I was helping with the power systems. Trying to make everything worked and ran smoothly.

My job was to make sure to watch videos to show how the water should flow, test the water and make sure that it’s flowing correctly. This meant me doing research on allowing water to travel throughout the system it self efficiently.Another part of my job was to build the shelf for the tank and make the plants available to water at all times. This part took time and thought to figure out how we wanted it to look like.

Media Team; Q4 Benchmark
The Media Team was tasked with the creation of a magazine on Climate Change as well as an instruction manual for building an Aquaponics System. During this project, I took on a huge responsibility as my group was narrowed down to only a few people who were actually working. I created the Media Team's magazine with the well-needed help of my colleague, Douggreco Askew. In addition to this, I helped him make small edits on our instruction manual. We (Doug and I) actually both acted as the managers of the Media Team.

Jada Reynolds - Capstone
For my capstone, I focused on trying to remove allergy triggers from the school and air quality improvement. I made a “PSA” to try and inform the students of how to prevent certain things from happening in the school.
I talked about asthma and how people who don’t even have asthma, can have asthma-like responses to certain things. I also briefly discussed heat strokes and heat exhaustion, plants that can be useful, and simple forms of modern technology that can maintain their usefulness as well.

Throughout the course of this benchmark, everybody had different and evolving responsibilities. I was responsible for working on the Water Cycle slideshow and completing the Daily Work Journal, which kept track of my team's progress and which things still needed to be done. Additionally, I was responsible for conducting any additional research about questions that arose as we were planning on building the system, such as which bedding we needed to get and finding the best things that would work with our intended goal.
I've learned many things while I was reading the class blog. One specific thing that I learned throughout the completion of this project was how unique an aquaponics system is in the way it functions. It's a great thing because it's self sustaining, but the conditions need to be perfect in order for it to function the way it was intended. I've learned much about climate change, it's history, and it's negative impacts on the world.

For this project I was the art director and I was in charge of designing the blueprint and creating the poster. I worked with the poster and presentation researcher to make sure that the information and images are clear and follow design recommendations. I learned how alternative energy sources impact the carbon cycle.

My team was the plants, grow bed. lights, and structure which means we were in charge of how the system was going to look and work together. Specifically, I was the project manager which meant I overseen everything but also contributed everywhere I could. I did most of the documents, helped construct the growth bed, helped transferring the plants to the fish tank, and most of all made sure everyone was on track. During this project, I learned how to create such an intricate system and filter a fish tank while being eco friendly.
Power, Pipes and Pumps
For this project, I responsible for keeping everyone on task. Every class period, I would fill out the Daily Organization Chart which was assigning roles to my group members. I made sure everyone had a role and knew what they were doing. If one my groupmates didn’t know what we doing or didn’t understand something I was there to answer their question most of the times. Other times, I would ask Ms. Glynn for clarification and inform my groupmates. I also helped with the powering, even though I wasn’t the one who got the power to work, I was there troubleshooting, trying out different solutions.

Water and Fish
In my group I was responsible to do what I was given and thats what I did. My job was to do chemical check and I was kind of confused because I wast suppose to use high ph, I was suppose to use the low or regular ph. What I have learned through the class blog is you must be very careful with what you have in the tank
