Natural Disasters and the Earth Systems

As we studied the earth systems and the natural disasters caused by them, I learned that each and every system is connected with each other. Either by small things such as the Atmosphere providing air for organisms to breath in the biosphere or really meaningful stuff such as tectonic plates moving, causing natural disasters that could affect both the biosphere and atmosphere. This understanding of how they can relate and change as well as affect each other, can help us not only understand a bit of how nature works and how we are all connected but also how to prevent, and protect ourselves. Knowing that tsunami are caused by earthquakes, we can predict a tsunami is coming before it has even hit, making us aware of the situation and finding safety quicker. Furthermore, since we know how the natural disasters happen, we can try our best effort in avoiding them and in term help the earth systems. For example protecting the cryosphere from melting by greenhouse gases caused by C02 emissions (most famously known as vehicle emissions). This both helps the earth and prolongs our time that we share with it. This however, makes me question: If we are all connected, then would the earth's death mean the death of the universe? Also What would happen if we added a new sphere, how would everything else interact with it? In this project I really like learning new things I didn't knew and enjoyed our discussions about the spheres and how everything revolved on everyone.

A tsunami is a large wave that is caused by an earthquake coming down on land (the geosphere). A tsunami is always caused by earthquakes, but not all earthquakes cause a tsunami. Due to it being water, the hydrosphere gets effected since it goes against currents and the life in the water will get interrupted. The atmosphere can also be affected by the tsunami. The energy is so great that it travels to the highest point of the atmosphere to a place called the ionosphere. This causes a disturbance in the ozone which protects Earth’s surface from harmful rays. When it comes to the biosphere, many people can lose their homes, cars, and their due to the distribution.
When a tsunami is coming, try and get to high ground or inland. Many coastal areas grow mangroves to try and protect the land the city from the waves that are to come. Also, if you are in an area where tsunami occurs, make sure you keep extra water extra food.
Tsunami to me is very scary, the amount of water the comes into the land is so destructive. The waves are not as high as our poster depicts, but there is still so much water that it will knock down anything its way.

Natural Disasters

Earth system affect and interact with each other through the movement of energy. The systems influence climate change if a trigger occurs within the other. Understanding environmental science can help when aiding these disasters because if we comprehend the way atmosphere shifts when it rains then we can prepare ourselves the to have protective mask and other items during storms. Also, if we know the chemical impact of a storm we will be able to use less off compounds or rid of disaster inflicting chemicals. We can create a sustainable future by just being kind to our environment, taking time to learn our environment as well as treating it with care.

Tsunamis

A Tsunami is a big wave usually caused by an earthquake on the Earth surface. The 4 spheres that make up the Earth's systems are disturbed by the disaster. The ozone layer, clouds (atmosphere), the ocean is forced from it's homeostasis to a raging destructive wave (hydrosphere), the land nearby is destroyed (lithosphere) , and the people nearby are dead or homeless. The kinetic energy that builds up in the wave starting from the earthquake is the reason the rest of the spheres are affected. People could grow mangroves and teach their young to take care of them, people can make shelter high up and overall be aware of their environment because they could possibly have a Tsunami in their area.

Wildfires

1. How do the earth systems affect each other?
All of earths systems work together as one system, all systems have to work together or there won't be any.
2. How can an understanding of environmental science aid in handling natural disasters?
It can tell us Why things are happening and what we can do to prevent it without causing more problems.
3. What efforts can we make to create a sustainable future?
We can cut our C02 emissions by more than half and erase the material plastic from the face of the world. Start cleaning our #1 source water and air so we can live healthy

Natural Disasters and Earth System Research

We created a power point for our visual as we researched our natural disaster. The natural disaster we researched were sinkholes. A sinkhole is a natural disaster where a giant hole forms in the ground. It’s usually caused by collapse in the surface layer, erosion, or underground water. Sinkholes can be natural or man made. Sinkholes affect the hydrosphere, geosphere, atmosphere, and biosphere. From this we learned that all of the Earth systems are connected. If something bad happens to one it probably affects another one in a bad way. Our understanding of environmental science can aid in handling natural disasters because we know how the earth and its systems work and why these things happen. From that we can figure out what to do when these things happen. To create a sustainable future, we should cut down on trash that’s created, we can continue to find different modes of transportation and keep our underground updated by fixing things like water mains.

My Electric Art Project

I made a Christmas bird picture album. I chose this because I like birds a lot, I studied birds, I have a lot of books about birds, I like to do bird watching, I also had a lot of pictures of birds, and I thought that it would be a good idea to make a bird picture album for this project. I like how Christmas lights illuminate pictures in the dark.

Artistic Statement 1:
To me, as me and my partner looked for ideas the shield stood out to me. With its simple, but interesting design. The design of the shield is used to represent how guarded I can be and helps me envision how complex a person can be and that even a small light can shine through them.

Artistic Statement 2:
To me when we were researching designs we we were able to spot the shield it seemed very intriguing, because we would be able to make something very unique that would not be created by any other group, because this allowed us to make our project by hand and tamper without being able to mess with creation. And also it seemed very interesting to do this.
