  1. The internet has changed communication in many ways as in people use it to say things that they may not say in person to one another. Things such as admitting certain feelings that they might not have the courage to say in person.

  1. Immediacy can affect our online identity by making it easy to realize how fast something can get out into the world. Along with the consequence of trying to delete it knowing that whatever was posted could have been copied in just a few seconds by someone unknown. This immediacy can affect a person in real life by having something that got loose from their hands on the internet and it can create conversation outside of the internet. Permanence can affect your online identity by letting a person post something and then afterwards having them realize that what was posted can nevern be deleted. Having it reposted can affect a person’s outside life also.

3. One way that a person could actively manage and protect their identity is by downloading an app that will help their identity from getting discovered. Another way is by not putting your real information out on the internet in the first place.

4. Yes i think the internet has rules. For example, if someone had posted something like pornography, they would immediately get locked in jail for participating while knowing it was against the law.

5. Cyberbullying is when a person is getting bullied by any resource online.

6. One kind of cyberbullying is called sexual harassment. Sexual harassment is a type of bullying because it is making a person feel uncomfortable online due to what one’s actions are towards them. Another type of cyberbullying is false reports. False reports may be seen as cyber bullying because of the outcome that it may have on other people when being used.

7. My advice to victims of being bullied is to never fight back unless it’s physical. Otherwise it’s not worth listening to. My advice to bystanders of bullying is to try and stand up for the victim because even if u try and stay as far away as possible from the commotion, it could make its way to you. And at that time, you would want someone to stick up for you the same way you did not for them.

8. 1- Watch what you post before you post it.
2- Never give in your real information.

3- Do not cyberbully others in any way.

4- Look for scam artists and do not fall for their cons.

Internet Survival Guide

  1. Immediacy is when you post something without analyse the post before hand. This is dangerous offline and online.

  5. Talking about someone behind their back is bullying and making fun of them and they don’t notice. Also posting someone without their authority. You are putting up content that they don’t want to because it’s embarrassing or private.

  6. Think of a password only you will know and come up with make it unique. Make a hint so that you can remember that password like what you named your first pet or what is you dream name. Something that no one else knows the answer to.

  7. 1. Secure 2. Hard password 3. Don’t just think about yourself. 4. Analyse before you post. 5. Don’t talk about others or post without someone’s authority.

Internet Survival Guide

  1. The internet has changed communication because instead of going to go see people you can just direct message them on social media. For example me and my sister don use the free time that we have to go visit each other but we still keep up with each other on instagram.

  2. Immediacy is like when you post something on the internet and it Immediately goes up there. For example when I post a picture or video on instagram it immediately goes up there.Permanence is when you post something on the internet and even if you try to erase it, it will be there permanently/ forever. When I put my tbt pictures on instagram and delete them it will permanently be there even after I delete them. Lack of Control is when you post something on the internet and something happens you can't do anything about it. When somebody repost something of yours you can’t complain because it's out of your control because you posted it so people can do as they please.

  3. You can protect your account(s) online by making sure you don’t have any personal information in your bio/profiles, make sure your accounts are set to private when people have to request permission to follow you and make sure you have a strong password. You can manage your accounts by making sure you sure you have a different password for everything because it's easier for someone to get into all your stuff like that.

  4. I don’t specifically think that the internet has rule I just think that there are rules within the internet websites. For example, YouTube has rules when it comes to posting content but YouTube is only a website inside of the Internet.

  5. Cyber Bullying is harassment towards someone online after they have asked to stop threatening/ intimidating them.

  6. Harassment because you talk about them in ways that they wished not to be talked about and it's intimidating. Marginalized- because you're leaving somebody out of a group chat or just an online multi-player game.

  8. Tip 1: Never have the same password for everything.Tip 2: Have important things backed up. Tip 3: Think before you post. Tip 4: Have a private account. Tip 5: Don’t feed into trolls.

Internet Survival Guide

Slide 2

An explanation of how the Internet has changed communication. Make sure to use at least one specific example.

The internet has changed communication because it allows people to get in touch more easily and information/news to be transferred faster. An example of this is when there's an emergency, such as Hurricanes or wildfires, and people need to evacuate and they can just be alerted through social media if something is about to happen or if something is happening that hasn't affected them yet.

Slide 3

Define Immediacy, Permanence and Lack of Control as they pertain to the Internet and explain how Immediacy, Permanence and Lack of Control affect both our offline and our online identities and lives. Include at least one example for each.

Immediacy is how immediate information can be spread around on the internet. Immediacy could affect our online life because if we post something by accident and a lot of people see it, than (depending on what’s posted) it could change somebody’s opinion of you. Immediacy could affect your offline life because it could keep you from getting a job if there's something that you post is bad and the company you work for finds it. An example of immediacy is if somebody posts something on twitter that’s racist, that would get around quickly and there would be consequences for that.

Permanence is how everything you post on the internet can be tracked even if it’s deleted. Permanence could affect your online life because if you post something negative when you're a young person or when you're not in the best state of mind, having somebody find that could alter how they perceive you. Permanence could affect your offline life because if you did something dumb in your youth, your potential job could hold that against you and not give you the job. An example of permanence is if a celebrity were to post something negative, that would stay on the internet forever because people would begin to repost and talk about it immediately.

Lack of control is when you post something on the internet, you can't get it back no matter what you do. Lack of control could affect your online life because once you post something, it's out there on the internet forever and people can interpret it however they want to, whether it's positive or negative. Lack of control could affect your offline life because if you post something and somebody misinterprets that, it could be held against you that you posted it in the first place.  An example of lack of control is if somebody were to screenshot a post or picture of yours, and edit to to make it seem like it’s something bad but it’s actually not.

Slide 4

What are two ways that you can actively manage and protect your identity and your reputation online? (one of each)

I can actively manage and protect my identity by not posting about personal things, such and my address or social security number, and I could protect my reputation online by not posting anything negative or offensive towards anybody.

Slide 5

Answer the question: “Does the Internet have rules?” Use at least one specific example.

I think that some of the internet has rules, such as certain websites, but I don’t think that the internet in it’s entirety has rules. For example, people could get banned from Twitter for doing certain things, but not banned from the internet for doing the same things.

Slide 6

Define cyberbullying in your own words.

Cyberbullying is harassing people online and making people feel threatened or offended about the things you say on the internet, whether it’s intentful or not. (Depending on the content.)

Slide 7

Describe at least 2 kinds of cyberbullying and why they are considered cyberbullying

There is a summary offense and a misdemeanor of the third degree.  A summary offense is considered cyberbullying because they are harassing / constantly communicating with somebody for no legitimate purpose. A third degree offense is considered cyberbullying because it is communicating with somebody anonymously in a threatening manner or at inconvenient times.

Slide 8

Provide advice for: victims, bullies and bystanders of cyberbullying

Victims should try to talk to an adult about what’s happening if it doesn’t stop because they could help you more than you think. Bullies should stop doing what they’re doing because there’s no valid reason, and they should focus on bettering themselves and stop being so unhappy with themselves. For bystanders of cyberbullying, you shouldn’t get into arguments online because it could make things worse, and you should report anybody that you see meaning mean to another person.

Slide 9

Your Top 5 tips for using the Internet

  • Do: report people if you feel the need to and you think there is a valid reason.

"internet survival guide"

                                                  “Internet survival guide”

  1. Internet has changed the verbal communication, people these days don’t like to communicate verbally, they just sent messages through gmail or snap chat or google hangouts.

2.  Immediacy is when you bring someone into a direct and instant involvement with something or someone. This can effect our online life and our offline life, for example if you see someone having a conversation in the hallway, and the person directly involves you in the conversation, Immediacy can also affect your online life, for example if a person is having an argument with a person online and you join in, you are probably going to get involved in the situation. its also like when you post something immediately.

3. Permanence is something permanent which stays and never goes off the internet, also it’s the state of lasting for a long time or remaining forever, in other words it’s endless. Permanence can effect our online life, for example if we post something inappropriate, people can re post it like a 100 times then it's all over the internet it doesn't go away no matter how hard you try to get it off the internet.

Permanence also affects our offline life, for example if you get suspended many times, the record would stay there forever.

4.  “Lack of control”  Many people face lack of control for example if you post a tweet and someone re tweets it by editing it, you would probably try to delete it but you wouldn't be able to, because it was re tweeted many times and someone probably has it saved. A real life example of “Lack of Control” is when the teacher is asking the kids to pay attention, and the kids take their phone out to text.

5. “Does the Internet have rules?”

No, because you can be 12 years old and get on Facebook by changing your birth day to 1998 or 1999.

6. “Define cyber bullying in your own words”

Cyber bullying is used when you bully someone using an electronic device, it’s like when you sent messages to a person to threaten them.

7. The way you can actively manage protect your identity and your reputation online is when you have a password which cannot be hacked easily by a hacker, or you can have the private mode on your account so your files would not be shown, also do not post any bad comments which can get reported, don’t save your password into different computers because people can get into your account easily.

8. There are 2 types of cyber bullying through an electronic device, the first one is when you threaten someone through a phone, like you ask someone to give you money and you say if you don't give me the money right now you are going to die or lose your job etc…

The second way of cyber bullying is when you insult a classmate by an unknown number or by your own number and make them feel really bad about themselves.

9. My advice for victims, bullies and bystanders of cyber bullying is that they should stop doing this because it’s only waste of their time, they can do something better and help people out who are lonely and have no one to talk to. If they would stop doing the negative stuff they would feel way better, and they also would get wisdom.
