UCLA Interview

For this project, my role is to interview my partner because he decided to come to my school. The interview is in Spanish and contains details about the university and the life of the interviewee. To be specific, concepts included physical descriptions, personality, likes and dislikes of the interviewee, school life, family, shopping, and clothes. All of these concepts were taught to us and we did this project to understand the concepts in depth.

​For Spanish 2 in quarter 2, we were instructed to work with a partner that Señorita. Moran assigned to us, and create a conversational powerpoint/google slide show covering the 7 topics she gave us. The 7 topics being, Condition v. Characteristics, Location v. Origin, Identification, Time and Date, Time and Date of an Event, Possession and Material, and Opinion. My partner that was assigned to me was Chris. This was my favorite Spanish project to date, because I had fun while doing it. Creating the slides was fun, but recording was stressful because we were trying to find some where to record while not disturbing the report card conferences that were going on. I believe the grade that we received, reflected our honest effort on this project.

Emanuel's Spanish Conversational Project

For this project I showed my understanding on making sentences about identification, time, date, place of event, opinion, and the preposition "de". For each of these categories I wrote a small script. Each of these scripts had a video of me and my partner acting out those scripts. We put a couple pictures that had to do with each of the videos on each slide.

This children's book shows the adventure of a young girl named Juanita going to school, getting sick, being sent to the nurse's office, and then finally going home and getting better.

Spanish 2 Dia de los Muertos

​This project was about Dia de los Muertos, Day of the Dead. It is designed around remembering the dead. I chose to do my great-great grandmother. I didn't know her personally, but from family members I have heard good things about her, she was an artist and a writer. This has shown in my family the importance of story telling because it has sort of kept her immortalized in the words of my relatives.

On this project we decorated a mask and a candy skull in remembrance of someone we lost. We also wrote a eulogy about the person we made the skull and mask for.

Reflection


Hello my name is kahsir and today I’m gonna talk about somebody that meant a lot to me. first I would like to say we were not related but he was so close to my family he was called our cousin. Dave is from Philadelphia and I believe he has lived here his whole life. He was our neighbor that is how my family became so close to him. I hung out with younger brother a lot that is how I knew Dave. I would describe him as funny, intelligent, and artistic. Dave meant a lot to me and my family, I looked up towards him as a role model. He was a big part of our lives and now that he is not here it feels weird. I decided to make a sugar skull dedicated to him because he is the only person I really knew who died. Growing up I was not that close with my real family so dave was the only choice I saw. I did not know his favorite colors so I just used the brightest colors I saw. My sugar skull is bright and vibrant and that is how I saw him, a bold person who stood out. Días de los muertos has helped me remember him more vivid like he was here just yesterday. If I celebrate Días de los muertos I believe I would remember dave like he is still here for the rest of my life.

Dave fue inteligente, gracioso y artístico. Él fue enterró en germantown. Cuando él murió mi familia fueron muy triste. Él murió el día antes él fue partida lejos a escuela. In the conversational presentation, we had tot ell the difference between the verbs ser and estar. We talked about each category on which to which it would work. We used videos in each slides to convey our point. Everything needed to be in Spanish with a certain criteria of what we need to have on each slide.

I thoroughly enjoined doing and creating this project, there was a lot of freedom and personality from me and my partner can be shown. Our story is called "El Mal Doctor". This story translates to the bad/evil doctor that is a huge fear of our main character. The main character is Miguel, his mother just told him about his doctors appointment and he begins to throw a temper-tantrum. Miguel get very tired from being so worked up and takes a nap before his appointment. When Miguel falls asleep, he also falls into a bad dream. This dream is about the doctors office and the doctors visit. Everything is dark and scary, there are snakes, spider webs, crocodiles and sad children everywhere. Miguel is called into the office and everything takes a big turn when the doctor takes out a needle. Just before Miguel is pricked by a needle he wakes up from his bad dream and it is time to go to his actual appointment. Miguel and his mother go to the doctors and everything is different than it was within his dream. There are happy children and beautiful nurses. At the end of his visit he leaves with a tasty lollipop from the friendly Dr. Lopez. El Fin.

In this project we had to find a college to and create an interview based on the college. I posed as the college recruiter while my partner was and interested student who was being interviewed. 

College Interview Project

For Spanish 2 in the first quarter, we were instructed to create a mock trial for a college that we would like to do. For my project, my partner Caylin and I did the college that I want to go to, Spelman. I enjoyed doing this project, because I learned new things about my college in researching for the project. If I could do this project differently, I wouldn't have rushed recording the video, because I stumbled over some words, and I didn't speak up as loudly. But, overall I enjoyed this project. 

Children's Spanish Book

​My partner, Shaylyn, and I wrote "Elena y el Brazo Roto". It is about Elena falling and breaking her arm on her birthday - which is supposed to be a good day. She has to go to the hospital, and is in a bad mood. When she gets back home, there is a surprise birthday party waiting for her! 

This project was to build upon basic communication skills mastered in Spanish II. The goal is to create a produce that engages students in the creation process, and to use as an educational resource.

This project was about celebrating a life, of the Day of the dead. I decided to focus this project on my favorite cousin. He was a influential role model to me. I miss him dearly. I have fun creating the art aspects of this project.

For this project, we were to define and describe when to use ser and estar. We had to include pictures, the dialogue for our videos, and videos of us in Spanish, without reading from a paper. It was really fun to make and shoot, and to be creative with ser/estar.

In Spanish 2 we wrote a childrens book in Spanish. Me and my partner Zach choose to write about a child named Pablo. Pablo was checked out of school for an dentist appointment. We presenting the book in front of the class and asked questions at the end. I drew most of the pictures and Zach wrote the book.

This was one of those projects I had mixed feelings about, I didn't really understand it until it was too late and I was not able to make the project as good as I could have. For this we had to use ser and estar in a basic conversation, however,  we also needed to define when we use ser and estar, make a video of us talking, and include pictures. I have learned to always look over the rubric many times  and if I still don't understand I need to tell someone. I did, however, love this project once I understood what to do and I think it was a very fun way of using basic conversation while also learning about ser and estar. Anther important thing I learned was to always use the documents that the teacher gives you.

College Interview Video

For this Spanish project we were put into groups. As a group we had to do research on a college. The video had to be 5-7 minutes. The objective were to use our communication skills, having a realistic conversation. The goal of this project is to create a dialogue that will include a college interviewer and a potential candidate, as the interviewee.

Hola fellow Sla students. Here is a project that me and mi amigo Kahsir Jones did for Spanish 2. This project involved having a simple conversation in Spanish with certain requirements. Overall, I really enjoyed this project. It got me a little closer to understanding Spanish. While I still have much to learn in Spanish, I'm confident that I understand the concept.
