What do you want to be in the future?
a Marine
Why did you choose Slabeeber to be your high school?
Were there any phrases that were popular when you were a teenager? What did you like to wear?
Uhh.. some slang words like wassup and uhmm and in the 80s i don’t really remember too much but not too many ,
I loved to wear jumpers that was the thing back in the 80’s and the 90’s . the jean jumpers and i would let one hang to the side sometimes and you can wear both of them. Reboks were the sneakers that a lot of people wore before, not nikes or jordans , they were more for the boys but the boys wore reeboks and some girls were into jewelry but not me. They were into big hoop earrings or the big bamboos but not for me but that was the still for the 80’s and 90’s .
2.Have you ever had any nicknames as a child or as an adult? Where did they come from?
Yes, yes everybody knows my nickname which is baby donna and the only reason why they called me baby donna is because we had three donnas in the family. we had a cousin named donna and she was an adult when i was a child and we had my aunt donna which was my mothers sister so in order to distinguish me from the others, when the name donna was called ,they would say baby donna because I was the youngest donna.
3.How are your children like you? Unlike you?
Oh my children, my beautiful girls are all individualized with their personalities and creativeness and you are really good at listening and being a good friend and a great helper and i think you just have that on your own , i don’t think you get that from me or your father, you just got that on your own and thats who you are as janelle and i think kyla is very observative and shes more alert and aware of her surroundings and nia is very artistic and i think you all have your own personalities , i don’t see any of those characteristics in me i think what we do all have in common is a love in music, even though we have a different taste in the kind of music that we listen to. But me and you can relate a little bit with some music. Kyla and nia have their own taste in their music but we all have some stuff that we like and some stuff that we listen to on our own. So in summary you guys share your own comparisons with me as a child but but no you guys as far as like your own way of of living your life and doing certain things that you love its really individualized
4.What do you think are your three best qualities? Your three worst?
oksy my three best qualities, strong not physically i mean mentally emotionally and you know just with life in general overcoming obstacles. Uhmm, the second quality is uhmm.. my love and understanding for my family and other families and compassion and empathy that I have for people that I meet uhmm. . my third quality would be just learning at any given moment able and willing and excited and ambitious to just learn a lesson from everything . So my three worst qualities : organization i’m not organized as much as I should be .. uhmm the second would be im a little naive sometimes i should open my eyes a little bit more when it comes to certain things in life . third is .. uhmm.. a third one .. Pass .
5.Which do you think you have the most of: talent, intelligence, education, or persistence? How has it helped you in your life?
Persistance and persistance has helped me through all of my life with just getting through good times and bad times and accomplishing goals and things in life that im still continuing to work at So persistance is number one for me
6.Do you have any special sayings or expressions?
I always say be a leader not a follower every morning to my kids uhmm. there may be some but this is an interview where i didn’t read the question first so.. i cant think of one .

Question: What’s something in your life that happened or happens a lot that really bothers you or really affects you in a lot of ways.
Answer: “We’ll everything affects me in my life but something that was very significant was when I found out a friend of mine got raped. That was very eye opening for me because it is something I have always feared and that fact that someone has gone through that is very heart-breaking and sad.”
Question: What’s something that really irritates you?
Alexis(From Main Campus)
Me talking- Hey Alexus Ok so I have about 3 questions for you and you don’t have to answer them if you don’t want to, I can just ask you another question.
Alexis talking- Okay cool
Me talking- Ok so where were you born? And how did you like living there?
Alexis- Ok, So I was born in New Castle, Delaware and I lived there for about 5-6 years and that’s when I moved to philadelphia. I moved because my mom and dad had lived in New Castle for a long time and they wanted to try something different out so they moved to philly. I actually really enjoyed living in Delaware. I kind of miss it a little. I remember bits and parts of it and I remember the setting and what my old house used to look like
Me talking- Ok cool.. Wow I never knew you lived in delaware
Alexis- Yeah.. I know right (LOL).. People say that lot
Me talking- Yeah..Ok so My next question I have is what is your ethnicity and how do you feel about your ethnicity?
Alexis- Well my mom is black and my dad is white. So I’m mixed with black and white and I guess I classify myself as mixed. I don’t really know any other way to describe that (lol)
. I feel pretty fine about my race or ethnicity I should say. I don’t have a problem with it or anything it’s something I was born with that I can’t change so… Yeah
Me talking- Yeah I get what you mean.. That’s pretty cool. Ok so this is the last question I have…. What is something that you wish you could go back in time and change?
Alexis- OOOO this is a good one because I was thinking about this yesterday. SO 2 weeks ago I told a girl that I thought she was Ugly and that I didn’t think her crush would ask her out. So I didn’t feel bad at the time when I said that but, I found out that the girl was really upset that I said that and she was crying in the girls bathroom each day because she felt so insecure and disrespected that I said that. People said that she began to stop talking to the people and every time the boy was around her she would walk away really fast and start to cry because she believed what I said and thought she was too ugly to be around him. I know this sounds awful that I said that and when people were coming up to me telling me that I was a mean person for doing that I immediately felt bad and didn’t know what to do. I didn’t just want to go up to her and apologize because I knew that wasn’t going to be enough. “ If I told you everything that I did after that to make her feel better and stuff you would be writing down a lot So I’m just gonna say that’s what I regretted.
Me talking- OH Okay Lol.. You can tell me later because I wanna know what you did…
Alexis- Okay
Me talking- Ok so That’s all the question I have for you… THANKS!!

Interview With Alba Iris Rhoads(mom)
by Iris Wilson
Iris: What’s your earliest childhood memory?
Alba: My mom, Delia was cooking and I asked if I could outside and play. She said yes and took us (me, Tita, and Mama) out on to the porch. The fire hydrant was on and some boy were playing in it. They were about 12 years old maybe. I wanted to play too. My mom said okay, but be careful. I ran right up to the front and tried to hang onto it, but the pressure was so high that it knocked me down and split my chin on the ground. My mom was already on her way to me. As soon as I turned around, she was there picking me up. She put me in her little yellow car and my sisters followed. I got three stitches, but I got to eat ice cream at bedtime for two weeks, and stay up watching Alice In Wonderland, Bambi and Pinocchio while my sisters were sleeping.
Iris: How would you define happiness?
Alba: For my kids to get along and always want to help each other out with a lot of things. Doing chores, picking out outfits when one has a date or job interview, building a lego house, looking for a song one of them heard in a movie. Eating a nice affordable dinner as a family once a week, everyone cleaning up afterward. To live somewhere quiet in a more natural environment, and every time we separate, even if one of us is just going to the store….say I love you because god can take up at any moment.
Iris: What’s a story you always remembered and why?
Alba: One time (at Grandma Alba’s house) someone broke in and we (me, Tammy and Sandra) were home alone. I was just a baby so they wrapped me in a blanket, gave me a bottle and shoved me under the bed to hide me. Tammy said I fell asleep in a few minutes. I remember now because I’m a mom and I can only wonder how kids so small, make such a decision under those circumstances and remain so quiet that they didn’t even know we were in the house the whole time.
Iris: Describe your favorite memory.
Alba: My mom, Delia, let us watch Samson and then Delilah put us to bed. She dressed me in my strawberry shortcake pajamas and helped me brush my teeth with my smurfs toothbrush. We went to our room and mommy put on the night light for us. I grabbed Raggedy Anne and she covered me with my strawberry shortcake sheet, then kissed my cheek and said she loves me.

K: if you could snap your fingers and make one thing better in the world what would it be? and why?
Iris: equality. too many people are sexist and biased and racist. everyone could just like let everyone live on with their life and i think the world would be much nicer.

K: tell me a story about your name iris.
Iris: okay well when my mom had me i was like her 7th child, i’m not sure actually. but um so basically my mom named me after her cause her name is also iris. but she named after her cause she thought i was gonna be her last kid. but then you know she had like three more kids so my name was kinda pointless, because technically speaking my sister should have been named iris but that didn't work out.
