Juniata Park Toxic City

It is really striking to see how broad of an issue lead poisoning in Philly is, while simultaneously there is no coverage of the issue. It is most troubling the communities and groups of individuals being severely impacted by this public health crisis. From our research for the infographic we found that children who live in neighborhoods with high lead levels are not just at risk in their homes; but they are equally at risk in their schools. All these communities share so common elements that make this public health issue more shady and nefarious in nature. All of the communities are typically low-income communities of color.  This stirs together the perfect "stew of injustice". Young children should not be poisoned in their homes or school when the issue is preventable.

Botany Project Blog post

Indigenous plants, Cultures and wisdom can all be conserved by doing the simplest of things. Will it take a bit of work? Yes but we can even do things like writing down traditions and keeping the knowledge circulating by telling others. Encouraging them to participate in botany. Giving them great, natural, and environmentally positive power. Humans can take the essence of plants and place it inside of areas that they will thrive in. If the area does not exist during the time of year then we can create it with our own two hands. A plants anatomy is important but not everything in regards to it’s physiology.  Yes the basic layout of the plant is determined by what it’s made up by but there are many different looking plants that have the same functions or uses. I say we keep the traditions alive and help our world blossom not wilt. All that there is to wonder is; Will you help save our environment?

1. How do the earth systems affect each other?

2. How can an understanding of environmental science aid in handling natural disasters?

3. What efforts can we make to create a sustainable future?

Earth's systems affect each other because they all are connected. They flow evenly in between each other.
Understanding of environmental science aid in handling natural disasters will help for future circumstances or just basic info to teach others about.
The efforts we can make to create a sustainable future is to just tart yourself, and help people close to you understand factors that affect our everyday life.

Automotive Industry

The earth systems affect each other because they are all connected. A lot of materials flow through all the spheres. For example water goes in all the spheres but it takes on different forms. Along with carbon and many other things.

If you know how a natural disaster works and what systems it affects you will be better equipped in what to do when said event happens.

We can all try to decrease our ecological footprint because we use a lot of earths resources everyday. This way we can slow down.

Brevity Lathers (Short Wash)

The carbon footprint for a load of laundry is 3.3 kg was at 60 C in a washer-dryer combined machine. If multiplied by the number of people in America that use washer and dryer machines, we’d have a dissatisfying number of carbon tons produced daily and released into the air. As a solution my group and I came up with a plan to reduce the use of water used while washing clothes by using solar powered machines. I learned that washer-dyer machines contribute to greenhouse gases which lead us in the direction of global warming. Less water usage will save at least 40 gallons of water per wash. Solar powered machines will also have a longer life expectancy because solar panels usually degrade about 1% each year.

Brevity Lathers

The industry that me and my group did was the fashion industry. We chose to do it because we all love clothes, and dressing up and looking nice. Sustainability is everything we need for and well-being and also create and maintain the conditions under which humans and nature can exist together. Our industry is sustainable because when it comes to fashion people can maintain what material feels right for them such as some people do only like clothes made out of cotton and some only like their clothes made out of wool. To sustain our business we will assign each other roles to keep everything intact. To lower the eco-footprint of the business we will wash and dry our clothes less .

Sustainable Business

The different earth's systems have different impacts on the world. When it comes to how they all affect each other they all create the next step to the next earth system. By all of the systems affecting each other, the earth can flow smoothly and the cycle can continue from there. There are certain things that humans do that can interrupt the cycle as well. So as a population we would have to do better with, water usage, poverty, and other issues in order to have a sustainable future.
