Click edit and you will see options on top of the page, you can create a blog or standard page, you can choose whatever layout that pleases you and you can create a link by using pictures. To create a link using picture, first add the picture and click it and you will see all the options pop up.

Art picture

  • What is the meaning of the work you created?

  • What inspired your work?

  • Why did you choose the location you chose?

  • How did this project change your perception of Art?

How did this project change your perception of Art you see as you travel around the city?

The meaning of the work I created is self enjoyment. I had to do this assignment but I enjoyed drawing this picture of a HellHound. The thing that inspired my work was a character on the show Teen Wolf. This is what I believe he’ll look like if he transforms completely. I didn’t chose a location yet because you collected it and I never got it back. This project did not change my perception of art. It also didn’t change my perspective of art I see around the city

Street Art

My Art work is some sayings and drawings that mean something to me. My thoughts and friends art work inspired it. I chose that location because I hang out a lot right there. Your art can be put anywhere and displayed how you chose. That people really do display their artwork where they want and they put it where people will notice and even in some places where people want. People make and display art for themselves and not for others

The Meaning Behind The Street Art

The inspiration an meaning behind my work is very simple. I wanted something bright , happy because usually people that don't speak their mind are sad or don t have the confidence to speak in which they believe in. The mind is where creativity and personality comes from so I want that to be shown in a picture.

Choosing the place I chose was easy I simply thought about the class that makes me think the most(Spanish) and put it on the outside door. I put it on the door for every time I get ready to go to that class I can be motivated to get through the class.

Doing this project doesn't really change my prospective on art I always had an eye for art but now I can look at things on the street that is created by someone and say that it is art because it's meaningful to someone.

Quarter 4 yearly reflection

File_001
File_001

  • An overview of each of your projects from this year. Each overview must include:

    • a synopsis of the project (why you chose the project, what you created and the process you followed to create the project) AND an image of the project.

    • Color wheel

        • For the color wheel,  actually did not pick this project. My teacher assigned this and this is why I did this project.  The project was a color wheel was the project and I turned it into a spider’s web.

    • Afro centered pictured

        • For this project I created a self inspirational painting This means that I reflected on my life now and how I wanted it to be. The process that I went through to make ths was first by creating a background. After that I created the tree and the girl..

    • Baby crochet shoe

        • For this project I created a baby crochet shoe. I chose to do this project because one of my friends just had a baby and I wanted to make a pr fp shoes for her baby. To do this I broke the project into different pieces by dong the base of the shoes and then doing the top of it.

    • Crochet phone case

        • For this project, I Created a phone case out of yarn (crocheting). My reasoning behind doing this is because I wanted a case for my phone that I didn't feel like paying for. To do this project  firstly created my 3D flower that I wanted to put on the case. I then created the actual case itself and a handle for it.

  • A reflection on your growth as an artist this year

    • As an artist this year, I think that I can say that I´ve truly grown. It may have not been a tremendous amount of growth, but any growth in learning is always a good thing. With crochet I have expanded my exercises with crocheting and brought back my ability to be able to do some complex stitches such as the seashell stitch. This has all helped me grown as a creator using yarn because I am continuously practicing and making new things with her yarn. As far as painting, I have also grown with this because it allows me to be more of a visual learner AND creator!

  • A reflection on these questions:

    • “What have you learned about making Art?”

      • Through making art, I have learned that even if you're not great at one thing, you're great at some other type of art. To me art has taught me as to how amazing art really is.  Say this because when I used to hear art  would automatically think drawing or painting, but art is way more. Art can be music, painting, poetry, drawing, or whatever YOU want your art to be. At the end of art I have also found out that there is room for improvement and you shouldn't be scared to improve your art.

    • “What have you learned about yourself through the projects you have created?”

      • Through the projects that  have created, I have learned that  shouldn't doubt myself. Often times I would shut down when it came to art but these projects have allowed me to see for myself that I am actually more creative than  think.

  • Which project you are most proud of and why

    • This should include an image of the project

      • I am most proud of my painting project because drawing and painting s the hardest thing for me to. I was very nervous when  started this and the fact that it came out beautifully and looked as if  knew what I was doing, shocked myself.

  • Your biggest weakness or area in need of growth has been this year?

    • My biggest weakness would be my ability to draw or paint.  Am not a person who draws or who paints and so for me to a whole project on it was the hardest part for me. However, this did not shut me down, it only pushed me to practice to get better and better.

  • What kind of Art you want to make next.

    • The kind of art that I would love to make next is mostly music or to practice my drawing. Music s a passion for me, but paintings all speak 1000 words to my life in silence. With these 2 art pieces, I am able to be myself.

  • What kind of Art inspires you the most and why (MUST include a copyright free/Creative Commons licensed image and a citation for that image)

    • There isn't one specific picture or exact piece, so I can't add a picture but a lot of mixed media art inspires me because  feel that there s a lot in one mixed media art that any person can interpret different and connect to themselves.

Final Project Reflection

-  The purpose of each project that I completed this quarter was to simply grow as an artist. Coming into high school I would never consider myself as an artist at all. However, over the years I have come to grow in my artistic manners and expand myself as an artist. The process that I followed to complete this quarter's project was simply taking my time to really reflect and answer my questions and to reflect. My final thought on this project was that it was fairly easy, and worth it because we all need to self reflect at times in our life. My only weakness in this project would be finding pictures of each project.

Drawing description

The meaning of the ribbon I drew is All cancer.

Amount of deaths that is caused by cancer inspired me to make this art.

I don't know why I choose the location Maybe because it's visible to others.

Art is not just a drawing it has a bigger meaning under it

I can see on some of the art what would want to make a person draw this piece of artwork.

Travel Project

This project was about traveling to a Spanish country and staying for a couple of days, to a week. For me personally this project was every insightful. For example, this project taught me how to actually plan and pay for a trip. I had fun doing this project with my group members because we all had never been there, so this was cool to plan as if we were going.
Cancún Presentación

Poetry Project

This project was poetry based. We had to find a poet with a life/ and or story that we could relate too. Then we had to write a biography about the poet that we choose, and a autobiography about our self. Also, we had to write one of the poets poem's in Spanish. Then we had to take one of the theme's out of that poem and write our own. I especially had a good time with this project because I myself am a poet! This project was fun not only because I got to write a poem, but I also got to look into someone else's life who I could relate too.

20xx Highschool Style

The meaning of this artwork is that 20xx existed even in high school, Fox was just practicing his tech skill before Melee. I chose to make this art because lately I've been practicing Melee and playing with Fox McCloud. I chose to put my artwork on the door of the game room because that's  where me and my friends play Melee. This changed my perception of art by helping me see that the world is a blank canvas waiting to be used. This has changed my perception of street art by showing me that it isn't vandalism it's art and it's  beautiful.

Street Art

My outer shell. This artwork represents about how I carry myself each and everyday because I wanted to let the outside community to know that what you see on the outside is just a mask. My art was inspired by a song and the moral to the song was to not be afraid to let the world know who you really are and not to be afraid to present and be you 24/7. With that being said I had chose a open space to represent what my goal was so that I achieve the goal I had set up for myself. My art had changed my perception on art in general by making my mind open up a little bit more because now when I see graffiti on the walls I see expression depending on what the graffiti says and how it's displayed. I'm kind of glad now that I have did this project because I don't think my perception of street art would of changed for awhile without out this project.

Freshmen Learn About and Create Street Art

Freshmen at SLA Beeber explore these questions during their first year here:

"Who am I?"
"How do I interact with the environment?"
"How does the environment affect me?"

In our Art class we explore these questions as well:

"What is art?"
"What makes someone an artist?"
"What does it mean to “see like an artist?”

After watching the Banksy movie "Exit Through the Gift Shop" and exploring the meaning behind street art, the evolution of street art into a commodity and the intricacies of fair use and reusing images, students then made their own street art. They, as a result, explored their own identity, their impact on their environment through the placement of their art around the building and the change in their perception of street art by now seeing like a street artist themselves.

Here is their street art and reflections:

Street Art BlogPost

Kevin Westerfer
  • What is the meaning of the work you created?

  • I made this art to spread word of a space in the school that I felt needed to be used.

  • What inspired your work?

  • I think that the way the school was laid out, seeing where people went and did during lunch had a big affect on my placing of my art

  • Why did you choose the location you chose?

  • I chose to put it by the bookshelves near Mr. Rosen-Long's room. I chose this place because of all the books on it that I never see being used.

  • How did this project change your perception of Art?

  • I think that seeing Thierry's change from being an "assistent to the artist" to actually becoming an artist was a very interesting change and it was an eye opener on modern art for me.

  • How did this project change your perception of Art you see as you travel around the city?
  • I guess it made me think about the graffiti or other street art I see when down Center City or in my own neighborhood.

Windows To the Mind

My artwork shows a girl with windows for eyes, as well as brick detailing on her face. I don't really have a meaning behind this drawing.
I wanted to combine a girl with a building.
I didn't really have a particular reason why I chose my location. I just pasted it on a wall that looked free from other people artwork.
My perspective of art didn't really change. I believe that art can be anything created with value.
I realized that the art around the city , such as graffiti, is just people trying to express themselves, and trying to leave their mark on the world. Even if it's only temporarily
