Quarter 3_Project #1_La Poesía Española (2)
For this project for Quarter 3 we had to first pick a Spanish poet from a list. When we chose a poet, we had to ​write a biography of the person and find a poem of theirs that we think we could reflect in our own poem. We had to write a reflection of the poets poem so that we understand what it was speaking about for when we write our own poem. Then, when it was our time to act as thoug poet and write and autobiography of ourselves and write a poem of our own using the theme of your poets poem. Overall, I enjoyed this project because it gave me the chance to express myself and how I write. I liked the work of the Octavo Paz (the poet I chose). And the poem "Where Without Whom"that I chose to reflect was good because I think I made a good poem to reflect the deepness of the poem.

Reflection: I think I did pretty well. The project wasn't too complicated and it didn't take long to do. I made a poem about myself and the type of person I am because that's what the poet I chose did.

For this project we had to do five different things. We had to write 8 sentences or something like that to describe and create poems about myself and my opet. This project was for individuals and we each had to choose a poet and wrtie a poem similar to our poets. This project was easy for me because the poet that i choose was already brought up in class already. ​

Travel Project

For this project, we had to pretend we as a group were an agency and provide information for a chosen spanish city and my group and i choose Santo Domingo. We then had to make a brochure, a commercial, a powerpoint, which had to include all round information for a trip to our cities. We included hotels, flights, foods and also activities. 

I think this was a interesting project. Out of all that we did so far this has been the most interesting one. It gave us an insight on other places that we may have not been to before. It was like i was living there. When we finished this project i learned so much. And i really enjoyed this project.

I think this project was fun to do. I say this because we got to experience different countries and what it was like to travel to that place. We got to see the food service, hotel service and airport service. Where my group traveled to, their time was different at the airport than it was here in the U.S.A. . We had to choose a Spanish city and give a information on what it is like to be there and we had to want to make sure that the people wanted to stay there. We gave them best hotel that we had in our city, restaurant and transportation. 

La Poesía Española Project

The purpose of this project was to research a famous spanish poet and analyze their life and a poem that they made. I chose to focus on Octavio Paz. He was a Mexican poet and writer. He loved literature and he grew up surrounded by it because his grandfather and father were journalists. He wrote many books and poetry collections and he is the only Mexican writer to win a Nobel Peace Prize in Literature. I chose Octavio Paz because I found it intriguing that he was the only Mexican writer to win a Nobel Peace Prize in literature so I thought he must be a very good writer. He died in 1998.

I like his poem The Bridge, because it explains perspective and how the same moment is different for everyone. This is my interpretation of the poem. Please feel free to read it and interpret a different meaning. I included his poem in English for non-espanol readers.

Octavio Paz fue un poeta mexicano y escritor.  Él nació en una familia de escritores en el treinta y uno de marzo mil novecientos catorce. Él es el único autor mexicano para ganar un premio Nobel de literatura. Él publicó su primera colección de poemas en mil novecientos treinta y tres. Durante su vida, escribirá más veinte libros y colecciones de la poesía. Él murió en el diecinueve de abril mil novecientos noventa y ocho. Octavio aprendió a amar la literatura a temprana edad después de que se expuesto a biblioteca de su abuelo.  Su padre y su abuelo eran ambos periodistas políticos activos. Su abuelo, con su padre al lado de él, se unió a disturbios de la agricultura. Cuando Octavio se convirtió en un escritor estaba siguiendo la tradición de la familia. En mil novecientos treinta y siete, él viajó a Valencia, España para estar en el Segundo Congreso Internacional de Escritores Antifascistas. Cuando regresó a México,Octavio Paz fundó y dirigió una revista literaria llamada Más alta. La revista reconoció la aparición de una nueva generación de escritores mexicanos. En mil novecientos cuarenta y tres, él viajó a los Estados Unidos para estar  en la poesía modernista angloamericana. Dos años más tarde él ingresó en el servicio diplomático y fue enviado a Francia. En Francia, él escribió su estudio de la identidad mexicana, El Laberinto de la Soledad, que es un clásico de América Latina.  Un momento importante en la vida y obra de Octavio Paz fue en mil novecientos sesenta y dos, cuando él fue nombrado embajador de México en India. Él escribió muchos libros durante su estancia en la India. Él dejó el servicio diplomático en mil novecientos sesenta y ocho. Él salió  él protestaba contra el gobierno porque fueron suprimiendo las manifestaciones estudiantiles durante los Juegos Olímpicos en México. Después de este que continuó trabajando para dos revistas importantes como un editor y publicador.

                  ​My Reflection of the poem's meaning

Cuando yo leí este poema estaba un poco confundido. Yo creo que este poema es sobre conexión. Es sobre la conexión porque la primera estrofa habla de ahora y ahora que es la misma cosa, pero también es diferente para cada persona. Ahora para una persona es diferente para cada persona, por ejemplo, mi ahora podría estar dormido, mientras su ahora puede ser cepillarse los dientes. Porque cada persona está experimentando una diferente ahora pero durante el mismo periodo de tiempo, hace a todos nosotros conectados. Ahora y ahora están ambos en el mismo tensa son lo mismo o conectado. Pero su ahora es diferente que mi ahora. La diferencia está basada en percepción. La percepción de su ahora es diferente que mi ahora. Incluso cuando dos personas están en el mismo lugar en el mismo momento, yo podría percibir el momento diferentemente que la persona a mi lado. Pero estamos ambos conectados, porque compartimos el mismo momento o el mismo ahora. Soy y estás es ambos el mismo tenso lo que significa que también están conectados. Esto es porque cuando estoy haciendo algo, están haciendo algo al mismo tiempo. No podría estar en el mismo lugar pero todavía es en el mismo momento. En el poema, Octavio Paz está llamando la conexión, el puente. La segunda estrofa explica que el mundo está conectado como un anillo cerrado. Por lo tanto entrar en sí mismo ayuda a que conectar mejor con el mundo. La última estrofa explica que está abrazando a conectarse con el mundo cuando él dice, yo dormiré bajo sus arcos

Alexus Tomlinson nació en el séptimo de diciembre, mil novecientos noventa y nueve. Ella asistió Escuela Wissahickon Charter. Su madre es una profesora pero ella va a la Universidad para trabajo social. Su padre es un trabajador de la construcción. Su familia siempre animó a ir a la Universidad. Por lo tanto, ella está trabajando duro en la escuela para mantener sus notas. Alexus tenía grados buenos del tercer grado a octavo grado. Alexus ganó concurso de ortografía de la escuela en séptimo grado. Cuando alexus era más joven quería ser un cantante. Alexus está estudiando en la Academia de liderazgo de la ciencia en Beeber. Alexus es un estudiante de segundo año en preparatoria.  Alexus estudiarán negocios cuando ella está en la Universidad. Alexus es pensando en convertirse en una pediatra de emergencia. Ella se encarga de sus tres hermanos menores. Ella comenzará a practicar la conducción en el verano. Ella ganó el primer lugar en pista y campo en la tercera, cuarta y quinta grado. Ella tenía el libro máximo récord de lectura en su escuela secundaria por tres años. Ella aplicó y fue aceptado en un prestigioso programa llamado Avance.

Las flores nunca dicen, a la gente

“Usted nos debe”

¿por qué?

Porque damos el dióxido de carbono de flores

y nosotros obtenemos el oxígeno de las flores en cambio

Sin otro nosotros no podríamos sobrevivir

Este es el dar y el recibe

algunas personas dicen, preguntar y tú deberá recibir

Yo digo, lo que da es lo que recibir

porque eso es lo que nosotros conecta

Qué compartimos con la tierra y de los demás es lo que nosotros conecta

Si es bueno o malo

​Reflection

This project was simple enough to complete and I enjoyed writing my own poem with the same theme as one of Octavio Paz's poems. I learned that writing a poem in spanish is even harder than writing it in English because you have to choose your words carefully so that they translate and still have the same meaning. I also like writing about myself because I haven't done it in a while.

I feel as though this was a great and fun project that can show you how to set up for a trip and to do something that is cool. I felt like this was a hard project because you had to be very specif about each and everything, such as telling you the exact time of what to do for the week and where to go. Another thing was it was a thinking process because it took a lot of thought and what we wanted to do for each day for that week.

La Poesía Española- Final Copy
The Poem project you had to pick a Spanish poet and write information about their life. You also then had to give information about yourself. Then you had to find a poem by that poet that was officially translated in Spanish. Once you found a poem,then you had to write a poem of your own.

This was one of my favorite projects ,even though I'm bad at poetry. I tried to make a poem. I chosen Pablo Neruda,a poet I knew before doing this project because I knew I would like his work. I knew enough to describe him as well. I felt like this was a good project and enough time was given and it was somewhat fun...

Summary: For the poetry project we had to pick a spanish poet and write short paragraphs on a poem from the poet. We wrote a short background summary for the poem. Wrote how we felt about the poem picked from the poem, and identified themes. We even wrote our own poems related to the poets theme of the poem.


Reflection: I liked this project because I have an intrest in poems. For my poet and poem I picked Te Quiero by Mario Benedetti. I liked his poem very much because he was very sweet. The only struggle I had was translating all of the sentence.

 Mario Benedetti nació el catorce de septiembre de mil novecientos veinte. Mario Benedetti nació en Paso de los Toros, Uruguay. Benedetti fue un periodista uruguayo, novelista y poeta. ÉL miembro integrante de la generación del cuarenta y cinco. Mario tiene más de ochenta libros publicados con muchos poems también.  La mayoría de sus libros son en español. Mario fue uno de los escritores más importantes de América Latina en el siglo XX. Mario Benedetti murió  Mayo diecisiete dios mil nueve.

Mi nombre es Vernika Barrow. Nací veinte y dos, dios mil . Yo vivo en Filadelfia. Yo asistía a la escuela en Science Leadership Academy@Beeber. Estoy décimo grado. Como Mario me gusta escribir poesía. No me gusta realizar mi poesía. Pero me encanta mirar a otros poetas de preformas y estoy abierto a diferentes temas en la poesía.

El reflejo



 


El poema es muy bueno. Estoy entiendo que se trataba  de un persona qué Mario amado y cuidado. Un de los temas más importantes fueron el amor. Marion expresa su amor por alguien o algo en el poema. El poema muestra el lado suave de Mario Benedetti. Él escribe su compasión por la persona por las palabras que utiliza. “Te quiero porque tus manos trabajan por la justicia”, “Tus ojos son mi conjuro, conjuro, contra la mala jornada”.   Mario es muy muy dulce.

José Julián Martí Pérez es un héroe nacional cubano y una figura importante en la literatura latinoamericana.Sus escritos y la actividad política se convirtió en un símbolo para Cubas de independencia contra España. Demostrar habilidades artísticas naturales desde una edad temprana, él originalmente realizó estudios de pintura antes de poner sus energías a la escritura. Por 1875, Martí había trasladado a México, donde continuó la campaña por la independencia cubana. Contribuido a varios periódicos de allí y llegó a estar implicado en la comunidad artística de la ciudad de México.

A partir de Kinder a quinto grado, siempre he ganado premios de cuadro de honor. Aquellos fueron mis mejores logros pasando por la escuela primaria. Cuando comencé la escuela recibía altos honores.Hubo muchos momentos de éxito que tenía cuando estaba en primaria. Ahora que estoy inscrito en la escuela secundaria, los tiempos son ásperos. A veces es duro para completar la mayoría de mis trabajos, pero todavía conseguirlos. Pero a través de mis años en la escuela, hay momentos que yo he logrado una meta que he puesto por mi mismo y hay más por venir.

I think this project was useful because we were able to express and how Spanish is used in a different way. Some people use it regular in a way where they just hold a conversation. This time it was used in a different structure where famous poets expressed how they felt. We were able to read different poems from different people. I like the idea of this project because we get to use Spanish in different way that some people don't use it. 

Quarter 3 Travel Project

In the travel project were in groups and each group had to make their own travel agency. We had to have the cost of five days,seven days, and nine days. And be able to explain what the tourist would be doing in all these days. In this project we had to have a presentation,a commercial, and a brochure.

Reflection: I would definitely be a tourist and never work for an agency. I am not good at working in an agency,but this project gave me some knowledge on flights,hotels,and restaurants in San Juan. I would go there for their historic museums and monuments. I believe our trip planned would be really fun.

The purpose of this project was to create a fake travel agency to a Spanish speaking country. I chose to do Santiago Chile for my project. We had to create a 5,7, and 9 day package. We had to include hotel, flight, food, museums and actives. This wasn't my favorite project because I not a fan of group projects but it taught me a lot. It taught me that there is a lot stuff you would have to do to travel and that I am not going to like every project that I do but I will learn from it

My grade doesn't because I think overall I did well on my poem. 

2. Did I follow the project guidelines/description? Why or why not? Do you think this impacted your grade or performance on this project?

I think that I was missing something on my project or I forgot to add something that was on the project guidelines and that I what made my grade kinda low. 

3. What were some of the factors that I succeeded with on this project?

Some of the factors that I used was old papers that we had in class and some of the powerpoints to help me figure out what to say for my poem. 

4. What were some obstacles I faced on this project?

Some of the obstacles were just making sure that the Spanish was well written, modified in its right order. Another thing was just finding out what to write about for own poem that was a really big obstacle that I was trying to work on.

5. What kind of resources/support did you take advantage of while working on this project?

I used some of my packets that we were done and some of the wordplays to help me out with my poem and make sure it was conjugated as well. 

6. What do I need to continue to work on to better my project performance?

Something that I need to work on is just figuring out how to put the right words in place and make sure that I know they might be future or past tense verbs. 

7. What are some lessons that I have learned about time management? 

Some lessons that I learned were that made sure you plan ahead so you won't turn things in late or have reminders. 

8. What would be your advice to your future self for the next project?

Ask for help or make sure you know what you're doing before you just put something on paper and hand it in like you know what you were doing.

The purpose of this project was to pick a country and city of Central America. You needed to promote the city/country and persuade people to go their for a vacation. The information needed to be real and accurate. The promotion needed to include a brochure, commercial, and power point/ prezzi on the city. 

 Reflecting on this, I see that this was an overall overwhelming project. There were many parts with out a lot of time. There were many difficulties working and completing the project but in the end the work and grade were satisfying.

For this project we had to create our own traveling agency. Once we decided on our traveling agency, we had to pick a Spanish Speaking Vacation Place and create a package for a couple to travel to. We created a package of 5, 7, or 9 days for them to choose. In each package we had to make a set itinerary for the full day. That included, breakfast, site seeing, night activities and dinner. We also has to book flights and hotels for their stay. Once all those details we planned out in FULL Spanish. In addition to that, we were assigned to create a commercial to sell our vacation package. And on top of all that, we had to present all of our information in Spanish to the class and Senorita Moran. 
I think this project was one of the most intricate projects so far. It was challenging because we had to do our ENTIRE presentation in full Spanish. Even though it was a challenging project overall, I really enjoyed doing it. However we did face some obstacles with some of our group members not contributing as much as the rest of us. That also reflected in our presentations.

​Reflection 
For this quarter 3 benchmark, it was focusing on traveling around the world. Our components were to do a brochure, a Powerpoint or Prezi, a commercial and a presentation. Based on the information of hotels, transportation, museums, restaurants, activities, shopping, shows, day life and night life of your chosen Spanish speaking country. During my time on this project, as a group I believe that we try very hard to use our time that we had. However, in the end of submitting this project, I did not submit the video on time. Meanwhile, this was a good project to see how hard it is to be a traveling agency.

This was a group project where the group got to choose any Spanish-speaking country and create a travel guide which planned a full traveling trip for two people. The project included 3 portions. A brochure, a presentation, and a commercial that all had to be apart of the travel guide. The guide had to include a 5, 7, and 9 day package and one of the packages had to be explained in detail so the traveler could know what activities are available while on the trip. 
I feel like this project was an easy project as long as you have communication and cooperation within the group which is what my group didn't really have. We produced only a fair product and our grade reflected what we turned in. I also didn't take charge in the group like I should have and my grade also reflected that.

This project was one of the more demanding pieces of the year. With the demand, also came a lot of stress because of how much worked was placed onto a few members of my group. Honestly, I'm surprised we even finished it at all and I hope to never have this kind of project experience again and I hope I can just keep moving on. Despite all the negativity I tie to this project we didn't do bad which is a plus.
